  1. I did Singapore from pre-k until 1b. I switched to math mammoth to help supplement it because she wasn't retaining anything. I redid 1st grade after the Saxon placement test. She did Saxon 1,2,3, intermediate, then 5/4. She has been struggling through 5/4 for over a year. She watching the video, then I help her complete the practice problems and examples. She cries through the mixed practice. I correct it and I work the problems she got wrong with her.
  2. My 11 year old has tried Singapore math, math mammoth and Saxon. Saxon was working for the elementary grades but she has failed every test since she has started Saxon 5/4. She has redone lessons and we use videos. I sit with here while she works and still it doesn't sink in? I am at a loss what I should do. She failed another test today. Should I jump ship again and try another curriculum. We already did the intermediate Saxon book. I feel like I am failing. I have been homeschool for 8 years and about to throw in the towel. Any advice?
  3. My son writes and draws with both hands at the same time. Sometimes both hands write exactly the same thing sometimes they are mirror images. I am not sure how to handle this situation. His drawing and writing skills are equal with both hands. Should let it go or focus on "proper" writing form?
  4. I am thinking about doing theme based writing program, Medieval History-Based Writing lesson. I can't afford Teaching Writing: Structure & Style. Will be difficult to use the themed program without having watched the videos? Any reviews on themed program or IEW in general? TIA Lynn
