@saddlemomma is Fix It Grammar good for 4th grade level? I will have to look into that program once I have time later tonight.

Another issue I am having with Language Arts is that he struggles with main idea, topic, cause/effect. We read a lot of short stories and he has to write the main idea, evidence from text that supports main idea, and a conclusion. We have been doing this all year and he still sits there frozen without a clue. It is so frustrating! I feel like I am always giving him clues and practically pointing out answers.

I have not used Beast 3 and was wondering if it would be better for us to perhaps start behind.

Hi everyone! So I've been looking into curricula and what to use for my son who will be a 4th grader come August. We had a pretty rough start last year which was our first year trying homeschool by enrolling through a charter. More on our background here http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/532423-our-first-year-of-homeschool-and-its-a-nightmare/Once we left the charter we took it easy for a few months but I feel like my son just isn't getting the best education. I had him take the sbac practice state test online just to see how he is doing. He got 5/30 on the English part and 16/28 on Math. His math has improved a lot but we still got so much to cover and he is struggling with memorizing math facts. He does not like English and seems to forget the lessons we learned by the following week. Here is what I was thinking of using for 4th grade, let me know if this is good or if I should change or add things. Thanks! Math: Beast Academy Grade 4, CLP 4th Grade Math English: CLP Language Arts & Reading I was also thinking of using CLP for Science and History as well because I really liked their samples (Not sure if you say CLE or CLP but it is the Christian Light Publications) Bible: LifePac This will be my first full year doing homeschooling on my own and I'm still learning a lot along the way. I am so thankful for this forum, it has been a lifesaver!!

We have tried tankinis but again so hard to find good ones. The few swimsuits that I really liked were over $150.

I am definitely going to look into Lands End, never shopped there before.

Ok moms, so do you have a hard time finding swimsuits that can hide your stretch-marks and keep your boobs lifted and looking perky? Every summer I have the hardest time ever with this. I hate my stomach so I only wear one piece but these darn one piece swimsuits never have any wiring or padding and all I get is saggy boobs. It's not fair how all the two piece swimsuits have padding wires to give women the perfect lifted boobs but not the one piece. They are pretty boring too! My sis is going on vacation and she has 2 little boys. She would like to find some cute one piece swimsuits with underwire and padding. If you have any suggestions please let me know, because I don't know what to tell her as I have the same exact problem! Thanks!

Looking at flickr seems most people use iPhones for photography than the samsung.

Dh is buying me a new phone for my bday and I don't know which to choose! I have been using the iphone since it came out and currently have the iphone 5, not 5s. I love to do photography with my phone and the iphone seems great for that. The note 4 also has a lot of cool features so now I can't decide! Please share your input!

No prob soror! :) What is BA? Do you have a link for that? It would be great to know where he is at and would help me with choosing the right curriculum for ds. -

Yes Dramorellis that was us who recently left that charter. I guess since it is our first year and this is still all so new to me, that I worry he might not be learning enough or that I will mess him up. I found out about Beast Academy through this forum and I think ds would love that because it's in a comic style. I ordered Zeus on the Loose which should arrive today. I think we'll just stick to journaling for Language Arts without any formal worksheets/books until next year, as I haven't decided on a curriculum yet. We do read a lot and always have audiobooks on in the car. -

We start around 8:30-9 but that is because my kiddos wake up around 6:30-7. I wish they would sleep longer! Ds has complained the past few days that he can't think so early lol... But there are days we start later and he is still a big complainer. I'm still trying to find out what works for us since we quit the charter mid year and I don't have any curriculum ordered yet. We go to the library a lot and he loves to read. Reads 4-5 fun chapter books a week, about 80 pages a day. He loves building, creating, and fun artsy stuff. For writing right now we do journaling, daily topic he has to write about, and lots of worksheets I get online. He complains about every math or word problem he has to do, or anything that looks like HW. I have to make it more fun for him but he also needs to understand that not everything is fun and games in life. He makes his own little comic books and that is the only kind of writing that he enjoys and doesn't need to be asked to do. Any comic book style lessons out there? -
