  1. Dh just used the word and I showed him this thread. He grew up in CA, so I was curious about who picked each pronunciation in the OP. Turns out dh's father is from NJ, so that may be the explanation :)
  2. It will really depend on the college whether student evaluations mean anything or if they're even read. Sometimes feedback is so strange, it's just ignored. Best bet with a serious concern is a formal grievance.
  3. Nothing personal... but we wouldn't have anything in common if that's what you'd want to talk about.
  4. That wouldn't be anything I'd be interested in discussing with you. I only go to the movies once or twice a year and it certainly wouldn't be for a chick flick. I'd rather have dental work done than talk about hair styles or make up. Dh would at least be likely to pretend to listen to that kind of talk.
  5. I'd definitely report her to either the department chair or there should be a procedure in the student handbook for reporting situations like this.
  6. Sometimes prereqs are more about maturity issues and seeing that everyone has some of the same background (proof exposure etc).
  7. Isn't trophy hunting a good reason? Dh has signed up for a half next year. I think I'll stick to the occasional 5k. Did 2 miles yesterday and pace is improving, although I've got a few walk breaks still....
  8. I'm so pleased for you both! Yes, 85 min is an excellent sign! And discrete is fun IMO.
  9. Good shoes are important! I don't know that it does necessarily get better. I still whine when we go out. There's also no time of the day when it isn't hot here now :( However, it is neat to see progress....
  10. I wouldn't, but sending a thank you note would be good. Good luck! You've already gotten good advice. I don't know if you've already shown samples of your son's work, but bringing some may be useful if asked for them.
  11. They've also got some playlists that I've been enjoying.
  12. http://www.amazon.com/Easy-To-Crochet-Pattern-Stitches-Combine-Heirloom/dp/1574866346/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404704429&sr=8-1&keywords=63+crochet This is the book that really got me going. Took forever to figure out how to hold the yarn and tie the knot. This was before YouTube. First square of sc took about 5 solid hours. I'm much faster now :)
  13. There are 10 kinds of people. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
  14. http://www.singaporemath.com/Primary_Math_s/21.htm I like the Standards edition. Minimum IMO is text, WB, and Home Instructors Guide. I also really liked Intensive Practice and Challenging Word Problems...although starting with Miquon and Cuisinaire rods may be best....the hands on in Miquon was really neat and the .cuisinaire rods go nicely towards bar models.
  15. Just ran 2 miles...first time in couple months! :)

  16. Dh gets hives from visiting people who have a cat even if he doesn't touch the cat. He also got hives from playing with our nephew at our house...nephew has a cat. Thankfully it doesn't seem to trigger his asthma.
  17. Sounds reasonable to me...and I've had issues with a neighbor's dog. I'd be pleased if they'd handled it that way.
  18. We spend about 15 min a day with it. Started in 3 rd grade. That's time that definitely has to be 1 on 1. The advantage is that it reviews phonics as well and does a great job of the "why's" behind spelling rules and giving techniques for when you don't know how a word should be spelled. It's been great for us.
