  1. I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom when I was 18. It's hard to lose your mother at any age. Please find comfort in knowing you'll see her again one day. ((hugs))
  2. my3starsofthesea - my youngest daughter's name means "star of the sea", I love the ocean, and I have 3 kids.
  3. I'm Jodi aka my3starsofthesea. I'm 37 years old. I'm married to David (soon to be 42), we'll be celebrating 15 years of blissful marriage in November! He's my soulmate and best friend. We live in Arkansas, where we have 3 children, oldest dd is 12, middle ds is 9, and our youngest dd is 7. We just completed our 4th year of homeschooling. I started after my oldest completed 3rd grade. She was constantly sick, and missed tons of days of school. My other 2 children have been homeschooled since K. We love homeschooling, being together, and learning together. I enjoy the flexibility homeschooling gives us, and our kids are much healthier as well now too! We've always used Sonlight for our Core curriculum, but we add lots of other things in as well. I've been chosen to be part of The TOS Homeschool Crew this year, and will be receiving lots of curriculum to review, and I'm looking forward to trying out new things! I'm also a blogger. My family blog is called Green Acres ~ about our family's move from New Jersey to rural Arkansas. And, I also have a homeschool resource blog called The Homeschool Desk Looking forward to getting to know everyone here! :)
  4. I gave our homeschool a name when we first started, because sometimes when I ordered things online it would ask for school name. So I just used my username/email and turned it into our school name: Stars of the Sea Academy I think it's nice for our school to have a name, even though we really don't use it often, we can list it if we need to!
  5. I have 3, but my oldest is 12, so she showers daily without all the fuss. ;) But, my youngest 2 are 9 and 7 1/2, so it's usually who's available, or who is the sweatiest, dirtiest, at the moment. My 9 yo likes to stay in there longer, however, so I try to get his younger sis in there before him. They both take showers, but sometimes he likes to sit in the bath, and if that's the case, then he's going last so he can soak to his heart's content, :) However, in the past, we have done alternating who went first/last the last time. Whatever works!
  6. Thanks, I unfortunately missed it last night. I had the timer set on the tv, but it was for later, and it came on earlier before that new show. I love Burn Notice!
  7. My advice is to tell her. I think the consequences of not telling her would be much greater than those of telling her. When my mom was sick with cancer, her cousin that she had been very close to lived far away, and had alot of problems of her own, so her family chose not to tell her that my mom was sick and dying. When she died, they had no choice, she was distraught and horrified, because to her it was sudden and a shock, and her family took away her chance to be with my mom and spend time with her before she passed away. My mom's cousin was never the same. It was a terrible thing for her family to do to her. (btw, my mom and dad wanted to tel her, but her parents and my grandparents discourgaed them greatly from doing so, so they just went along with her parents' wishes). I'm sorry about your uncle, and for your family. :grouphug:
  8. Aww..that looks just like our lab/golden we have when he was a pup. He's now almost 7, and a very special member of our family. Your puppy is so cute!
  9. diapers! lots of diapers, and baskets of necessities, like nail clippers, baby soaps, etc. bibs..all that good stuff, and I loved handmade blankets, I still have all those for all my kids!
  10. I remember waiting a really long time for mine last year. Guess I need to order a new one!
  11. That's fantastic!! Love to hear homeschoolers doing that well!
  12. I would replace them, the least expensive way possible, if that's RR then go for it. Sorry, accidents happen though, at least you are a good enough person to know to replace them :)
  13. I hate moving too. I don't mind the packing as much as the unpacking. We have moved alot, and it's never fun or easy. ((hugs))
  14. I'm 37. Looks like there are alot of us in that age group ;)
  15. Yes, and it's good for me too ;) We need some down time, I encourage them to read, which they enjoy anyway, but we really do love our summer break!
  16. LOL...yes, it is so unreal on tv and movies. And labor and birth happen so fast too! I did not scream, at all. I was too busy trying to breathe and push, lol.
  17. I don't mark in my TMs or textbooks, because I do resell, but I have no probs with my kids writing in their consumable workbooks. I just know if I don't mark in them, I can get most of my money back. That being said, if you're not worrying about reselling, then mark away ;) I use little post-it tab things where I need them instead:)
  18. $25 or $50 depending on how close I was to the recipient and also how much I could afford.
  19. For all 3 of my kids, I usually spend around $1000/yr. As my oldest gets closer to high school though, that will prob. go up a bit. Although, this year, I am trying to spend less and use more free resources and the library much more.
  20. I have never done Atkins, because I am a carboholic, lol. But, I have done weight watchers, and most recently I am having much success with sparkpeople.com. Have you checked it out yet? It's free too, which is a bonus for me!
