There is some quote that goes something like "it is an honor to be killed by the king." I can't find it anywhere, I don't know the context or anything. Did it come from classical literature, mythology, a TV show? Or did I just dream it?

We found it helpful.

If you have chemical sensitivities, have you found a depilatory cream that doesn't have a strong smell?

(And I am brutal in my assessment of my kids actual profiles compared to the profiles of students who are awarded the competitive scholarships.)
How do you find the profiles of scholarship winners?

Our family has done a lot of air travel, and all TSA ever does is tell the kids “raise your hand when I call your name” and then read the names off the boarding passes. Weird that the procedures aren’t uniform.

Yes to all of this! I've told her all that too, but you know how 14 year old girls can be ... They know everything *rolls eyes*
Has she been reading about Katie Davis?

Where do you shop for tween girls who have outgrown the girls’ section but aren't ready for juniors styles?

The swing set is gone! I let our handyman take it to fix up for his little kids. My kids are excited about how much bigger the backyard looks (youngest is 9, no one has been playing on that swing set in awhile). Now they’re begging for a trampoline and dh is remaining steadfast against it.

I’m still on the schoolroom. 7 boxes of books gone to the public library, and 6 to the school library. Lots of trash and recycling gone, bags to Goodwill. I’m waiting on someone to pick up old non-working printers and kiddie bookcases. The homeschool curriculum is in stacks, I’m accepting all offers just to get rid of it and bring in a few bucks. My goal is to make the room a book/art/game room, but if I don’t organize it well, it will become a dumping ground again. No one does schoolwork in there. At least now you can vacuum the floor, that’s progress.

I have lost count of how much I have taken to Goodwill. I know that I filled 3 large black trash bags just by cleaning out one small hall closet of blankets and bedding.

Kids are 13, 11, 9. We haven’t decided exact dates of the trip yet or exactly where we’re flying into. It partially depends on availability of redeeming airline points. I’m guessing the trip will be about 12-14 days altogether.
I know I don’t want to spend the whole time doing crowded touristy things. Aside from that, I’m at a loss.

It looks like this is going to be the year to go to Scotland with the kids. I am excited but also at a loss because of all the choices to make. I have to make it count, you know? And I want to plan well enough that we can relax and enjoy it.
Any advice? The trip will be in June.

1. A serious, top-notch touring choir that is open to non-music majors by audition
2. Located in the South
3. Conservative, or at least enough political diversity that a conservative student would be able to find their niche
4. Good merit aid available
