  1. IIRC, it was a full size sedan and about $65ish/day through Enterprise. I'm not sure if this is a good price or not as I don't usually rent, but he commented that the airport was more expensive. Price may vary by city, too, and we are in the upper midwest plains. And, they will pick you up for the rental time.
  2. DH just rented a car for a trip he took last week and says that if you have the option to rent from somewhere other than an airport, then do so as it is significantly cheaper.
  3. Many moons ago, when our twins were born, a good friend crocheted nice bibs with bottom pockets/food catchers. They were super nice because they were soft, and I could throw them in the wash with towels no problem. Loved those!
  4. Growing up south of Columbus, and having a brother who now lives in DC, he always takes 68 through northern MD before 70 crosses into PA when he visits, cutting out the PA turnpike--seems like there's always construction, bad weather, heavy traffic--and getting a beautiful, scenic route over the mountains with less traffic and minimal tolls. Maybe stopping at the Sideling Hill Scenic rest area--top of the world. IIRC, he takes 40 off of 68 just southeast of Pittsburgh (Keysers Ridge?) angling up to 70 inside the western PA border. Enjoy your trip!
  5. Matrix Biologe Shampoo/Conditioner. I use Hydrosource for dry hair and detangling solution for conditioner. Kids and DH always say my hair smells great. Not sure if it ticks all your other boxes.
  6. lol...I was still bad at it even knowing it was AI-generated. Maybe you'll work for the US Secret Service counterfeit department in your next career.
  7. DH sent me this article today about AI-generated images and faces and how to spot these fakes. I played this game before I started reading the article and then again afterwards. I was amazed at how good these images are, how low my proficiency was beforehand at identifying the fakes vs. real faces, and how after reading, my proficiency increased to around 90%. It's crazy! Wanna play?
  8. Lemon Poppy Seed Bread or muffins freeze well.
  9. Thanks for your reply, VC. I find what you say about your daughter's group to be true for any book group I've joined. The more enjoyable discussions have been a free trade of ideas instead of sitting at the feet of the "expert." Although, I really do appreciate a few more knowledgeable attendees that can clarify any misconceptions or speak to a few specifics, keeping the discussion moving in the right direction. From the little I've read on Shared Inquiry, it appears to be Socratic methodology. That is to say, we, even the teacher, are moving towards a truth, and the teacher is there to keep us on track, asking pertinent questions that get us considering all the sides of the matter. There is a confidence from the teacher that once a topic has been thoroughly discussed, the truth will reveal itself. The teacher is the humble facilitator, not the authority, having expert knowledge to draw forth all angles to what is being discussed and resisting the desire to be the "expert." From 8's first link above, "The Socratic questioner acts as the logical equivalent of the inner critical voice...", I find this to be the bottom line as to the teacher's role in the process. How you would consider Shared Inquiry different than most Socratic questioning? Maybe what some call Socratic questioning is not really so...maybe it's being done poorly. Reading through 8's first link on Socratic teaching reads quite like Shared Inquiry.
  10. This is interesting! I especially appreciate the Handbook from the site. So, what if there's an expert as part of the group that people want to hear from whether it's the leader or not? Say that the expert may not be the expert on the specific text but is for the general subject matter.
  11. Thanks for these resources! I'm always on the hunt for things that take an idea and show how it practically works, hence my asking about resources that show the application of Socratic method. 8, your link to the critical thinking page really helps me think this through. If I can swing it, I'll have to check out the webinar linked above, too.
  12. The irony that this post is right next to Gil's "Really Dumb Sh..." post makes me laugh.
  13. Is there a resource that explicitly states how to apply Socratic questioning in education? Maybe not an exact recipe, but fairly close. Perhaps I've missed it, but over the years one thing I've wanted to see was something that gives a fairly clear path on the how-to do it with examples. Some of it I can intuit and piece together with a few fellow boardie techniques/tips, but would like a resource to help me become more confident in my style. Bonus points to any Catholic perspective resources.
  14. We do WWE1-3 w/MCT Island along side #3 then Treasured Conversations (8filltheheart's) w/parts of MCT Town & Voyage then WWSkill 1 & 2 possibly 3. Some Killgallon for practice on creating good sentences and cross curriculum writing in the latter years. We've also dabbled a bit in IEW for some story sequence structure, etc. but not full-time. ETA: No experience with CAP, but I've heard good things.
  15. I just PM'd you. Hope it helps in some small way.
  16. Very interesting! Most times you see a fairly standard approach to history and lit. Sometimes it takes putting an alternative out there for us to think outside the proverbial box. Thanks for sharing a tidbit to anticipate exploring your offerings when you're done.
  17. I have... two siblings who adopted my 4 nieces and nephews, 3 in one family, 1 in the other. one sibling who gave one up for adoption as a newborn. a friend who is adopted. a friend who adopted 2 and still fosters, one who adopted 3 foreign, another who adopted 2 locally, one who adopted 1 local/private. my ob/gyn adopted 2 locally. acquaintances through extra curr. that have adopted. Yeah, it's touch our life in a very positive way! ETA: just remembered, DH's cousin adopted 2.
  18. Ooooh...you'll have to tell us more about this. Maybe you have, and I've missed it...

Religion: continue Walking w/God (Cavins) w/Dad in co-op setting Logic: continue Socratic Logic (Kreeft) w/Dad in co-op setting (1/2 credit) maybe continue w/piano, scouts, not sure...I'd love it if she joined debate!! But every time I mention it, she gives me a sideways scowl...hee, hee
  20. Boo on Thomas Bagels!! This is my post, and unfortunately, the co-worker didn't save anything or take pictures. If he had, I would encourage him to send a letter to Thomas and complain. He's an attorney.
