  1. The kids keep changing their minds about which one to keep. Right now they like "Scrappy" the one doing blue steel. But the favorite has been "Buster" (all gray/ largest kitten) for a while. I think we're all torn but we're not willing to be a 6 cat household even after knowing we have rats. Why do they all have to be so darn cute?
  2. It is not easy! They feel the need to go on a marathon of extra cute funny behavior right at our bedtime.
  3. They are getting cuter, funnier and crazier by the day. Fighting, skittering around the house, back arching, tiny hisses, tiny meows, tail fluffing...They're now 5 weeks old. Sometimes it seems like they are actually trying to create kitten calendar photo shoot poses. One found a random Santa hat and fell asleep in it. Hopefully these kitten pics bring you a smile. Spider kitten climbing the couch: "Blue steel" kitten: Oh, let's all 5 of us sleep inside a baby doll carseat: Tiny kitten tongue: Kitten infestation - not even the dishwasher is safe: Kittens + 6 year old girl =
  4. Thanks for the tip about spaying while nursing. I was told to wait until the kittens are fully weaned. We definitely want to get her spayed. We're vigilant about not letting her outside at all for now. I will contact a local ad I saw for low cost spay and neuter. I was going to wait a bit but I'll call Monday. Oh and I'm using "yesterday's news" non clumping cat litter. It's recommended for kittens apparently and I actually like it way better than clay litter.
  5. DD has been placing cheap plastic easter egg halves on the kittens as hats to see how long it takes it to fall off. This is very much a thing. Does anyone remember stuffonmycat.com? (very popular around 2007)
  6. The favorite right now is the all gray kitten, who is also the largest. The kids change their minds all the time though. Their little personalities are easy to fall in love with. BTW does anyone know how to tell what their genders are? We looked at how-to's and youtube videos about it and I seriously have no idea when I look at their little private areas.
  7. LOL it's hard to stand it. DD especially... she would hold them 24/7 if I didn't intervene to let them nurse and sleep.
  8. Yeah it's sobering to think of mama cat about to deliver sitting there at the animal shelter. She and those kittens might not have been alive today. Overcrowding and kitten season and all. It was not a "no kill" shelter. When we saw her we just loved her. We also knew things were not looking good for a pregnant stray. So glad they got a chance. Mama cat is doing a remarkable job. Nursing them well.
  9. From when they were about 2 weeks old. Baby kittens hugging!
  10. I feel like it's my duty to share some of this cuteness. This is our first family pet situation (we are keeping the mom, one of the babies and finding homes for the other kittens) and I must say, there's really something to the happiness that animals can bring. Especially baby ones. Oh my word. They are so precious. My DDs dream has basically come true.
  11. Edited: baby kitten pics starting post #7!!! So my question is, how do you post pics so that you can see them in the actual post and not have to click a link? You may remember we had rats and hastily adopted a pregnant stray to help the situation. We haven't seen a rat since, the kids allergies have been ok and there's 5 ridiculously cute baby kittens being raised in our home now. Just thought I'd share.
  12. "I'll Love you Forever" for sure. Otherwise known as "I'll stalk you forever". Subtitled "you can be a brat as long as you're nice to me on my death bed", or "this is a weird book supposedly aimed at children but really meant to give adults the feels to the point that they don't realize it actually has nothing to offer young children except guilt trips and confusion".
  13. Look up "greige" (gray-beige) on Pinterest. Our new house is 1300 sq ft and we got Sherwin Williams "Perfect Greige" to cover up the banana yellow, bright turquoise and primer gray the previous owners had going on. I really like greige. I just love a nice warm gray. I love bold colors too, but to me using bold colors is better left to things you can easily change, like decor, not walls.
  14. You are so not the only ones with this issue. I think Arctic Mama explained it well. I used to be able to talk on the phone when needed as a teen and young adult but of course that was the 90's and early 2000's when there wasn't much of a choice. Now there's free texting, and I have kids in my home all day either being loud or napping at which point talking on the phone is not worth it. It's hard to know if it's a changing technology thing or a changed season of life thing or both. Plus texting is a natural for an introvert. I'm with Jim Gaffigan. He says "If you are calling me instead of texting it better be to tell me your hands got chopped off."
  15. Hmm. As far as trying to relax the bladder while peeing, is that best? If I don't push the urine out it takes forever. It's annoying and time consuming especially in the middle of the night. But I wonder if it's making things worse to be pushing it out.
  16. What is IC? I don't know exactly what a prolapse is either or if I have one. Thanks everyone. I ordered the core strengthening book and the "Bathroom Key" book. I figured that yes, it's a lot cheaper than Dr visits and tests and maybe surgery. If those things don't help then I'll go to the next step of the Dr. I don't really have bladder leakage just near constant urge to urinate even if a lot doesn't come out. And I've had UTIs so I think I know what they feel like but this doesn't feel like that. I could be wrong though.
  17. Or do I need to start wearing adult diapers at 37? The only time I sleep a whole night without getting up at least once to relieve my bladder is when I catch a virus maybe once a year and get real dehydrated. Being in public where a restroom is not always feasible is a real drag too. I've carried and birthed 3 babies, 2 of whom were over 9 lbs. I'm not that young anymore but not exactly geriatric yet. I understand things don't work as well as they used to but is there anything that really helps? I try to hold it but the pressure and discomfort in my bladder is not easy to endure.
  18. July here. It wasn't really the plan to get married in summer, it just worked out for us. And it happened that the 7th was a Saturday that worked too so our anniversary is actually 7/7/07!
  19. This certainly has been a thought provoking thread. I became a bible believing Christian as an adult and I very clearly remember prior to then how kooky and irritating people who tried to evangelize me/others came off as. It wasn't until a lady who was my co-worker built a relationship with me without ever trying to harass me about her Christian faith that I softened up a bit to hear what she was saying. Whether or not people believe that Jesus is who he says he is, I think it's important to share one's faith with discernment, not having some agenda of putting notches in their belt how many people that they can harass that week. And IMO as far as everyone being Christian in our culture I really think things have been watered down so that it's hard to even know what a person means when they say they are one. Chick tracts... I saw those all the time as a teen/ young adult. It's amusing to think about at this point because I would sometimes collect them for the irony and whimsy, and I guess dark humor of it. Proof of how weird and crazy Christians are. I have a collection of them actually for the art value. I do like the comic motif. Chick tracts had a heavy presence in southern California, Orange county anyway in the 1990's. Jack Chick was from Chino I think. I saw those things all the time.
  20. Not raised in church. Went on Easter (some years) to ethnic orthodox church. Mostly my parents didn't really care or have time for church and faith. I was taught people who read the bible and talk about Jesus are basically cult members. Definitely not normal. Now I am one of those weirdos.
  21. I hear you. Looking at the mother's day cards is always rough. They're always so incredibly gushing. You're so amazing, you always cared so much, you sacrificed etc. I look for a card that says thanks for not aborting me but I haven't found that one. I have forgiven my mom even if she doesn't acknowledge wrong doing but it's still hard that she expects some grand gesture on mother's day when she use to spend money on her boyfriend's meth instead of food for my sister and I and acts like nothing happened.
