No, that's was the National Geographic one on colonizing Mars.

I really want to see that one too but I don't think its on any streaming service we have.

We watched the first 2 episodes of One Strange Rock and the kids (and me too) love it! Its perfect timing because we haven't come across a documentary series we really love in a while.

man, I don't know? I've only done it once and it was such a bust I blocked it out of my mind. I can assure you that if cash tipping was involved I didn't. But I don't remember if there was a tip on the app...I don't think so though.

My problem with walmart pick up is that they don't contact you about substitutions ahead of time. They just do it, and then when they bring out the groceries they tell you. At that point they can remove the items if you want, but it will take them a week or something like that to actually refund you! And the substations they made were lousy. Like, no, regular soda is NOT a good substitution for diet soda. That kind of thing. And now with my son being gluten free I don't know that I trust them. With Shipt, they message me while they are shopping, and give me options. So they were out of the gluten free pizza I had ordered, and she sent me actual pictures of the other items that they DID have in stock, and let me pick which I wanted, or decline all together. And I can leave special notes when I order, like, "I'm not picky about anything except the brand of diapers, please don't substitute those" or "text me when you get here, don't knock, so you don't wake the baby up" or whatever.

With walmart instead of Fresca I got mountain dew or something like that, and then was without any diet soda all together because they won't run in and get a different diet soda for me, and I can't drink regular. That kind of thing.

There is definitely no tip option on the app so that makes me feel better.

I can see why substitutions for your family wouldn't work out great. We don't have any specific dietary needs in our family. We were substituted brand name hot chocolate mix for the off brand and brand name almond milk for the off brand, so both our substitutions worked out great for us! 😄

When you put in your address it pops up with what stores it will deliver from in your area. For me I have a lot...Winn Dixie, CVS, Publix, Costco, ABC Liquor, Target, and maybe another? But...each store you have to meet the minimum order for free delivery, I think $35. So I can't order $10 from CVS and $25 from ABC Liquor for example. And you do need to tip (well, you should or you are a bad person, lol). And there is a membership fee. But for busy people like working moms (my sister) or when the kids are sick, or when we are on a roll with homeschooling or cleaning and I know that dragging all the kids out to shop will ruin the momentum, it is a life saver.

Also, some find they save money because no impulse purchases, lol.

Are you supposed to tip the Wal-Mart employees that bring your groceries to your car with the grocery pickup service? I know some employees of big companies can't accept tips.

I used the service recently when I was in a nearby city and I had a tip for one person but TWO employees came out to load up the groceries! 😲

  4. We are hosting a playdate at our house this morning!!!!! As an introvert, I never thought I'd be so happy about a playdate! But we are so stir crazy between everyone being sick and multiple rounds of ice and snow, so I am thrilled to spend some time with other humans and let the kids play with their friends!

This afternoon, after the playdate, we'll do a relaxed school time. Read alouds, memory work, math facts, and 1 hour of a docu series we are watching.

More laundry, house cleaning/ organizing projects, and at least one very important phone call for me today.

    Have a great day everyone!

  5. Well, its snowy and icy out there. Public schools in our area cancelled. So we'll stay in today.

We are doing school though, since we've missed so much lately. I think maybe I'll let them choose the order of the subjects today. Sometimes there is less whining if they choose the order. I don't know why that makes a difference in their minds but, whatever, I'll take it!

Especially today because I have a long to do list that is not school related. Phone calls, paperwork, more deep cleaning, make banana bread before the bananas can no longer be called "bananas", 3 loads of laundry, and probably something else I'm forgetting.

    It is cabinet depth

    KitchenAid

has the panels to match your kitchen cabinets

made for high end kitchens. I have never considered an 8k fridge do I don’t know much.

Well, if I remember the kitchen floor plan of your new house correctly, it sounds like it will go quite nicely in it! What a steal!

I am selling it now because we have an acquaintance who has that 42 inch for sale. It is new, he was doing demo in a new house where the owners didnt  like it and they let him have it.

It is an $8000 refrigerator and we are getting it for &800. Paperwork still inside it.

Wow that is awesome! What makes it so expensive?

  8. Are you selling it right now or is this for when you build your new house?

Honestly, this is exactly what I'm looking for and cannot find anything remotely close in my area.

So yeah I'd price it a little high and you'll end up coming down on the price but I bet it will go quick.

  9. Regular school day at home. It feels like its been forever since we've had a "normal" day.

Memory work, Spelling, Writing, Math, Geography before lunch. Exercise, chores, piano practice, and reading after lunch.

I have one quick errand after school is done then we are hunkering down for another round of winter weather.

Deep cleaning the house this week too, since its been neglected while I was sick. Today is the school room and dd's room plus 2 loads of laundry.

    Off to get started!

So cool! I would love to meet boardies near me... but I'm shy. 🙈

I'm shy, too. 😊 But I do wanna meet a boardie someday!

I always wonder when I'm at the curriculum store if the other moms browsing the shelves are boardies.  🤔

So glad you had a nice lunch!

Cannot seem to make links work at this time.

It is static cling privacy film. You can probably find it with words .  Some is just to look like frosted glass — quite plain; some patterned like bamboo , or other designs ; some to catch light in prism like rainbows...

I just used the phrase from the link to look it up on Amazon. It looks pretty cool. I saved it to my list for the future. Thanks for the tip!

The house my mother had before that was catty corner to her church (a small neighborhood style church). So just a cautionary tale if you think living next to your church would be great. Any time she wanted to skip church, she had to hide inside and leave all the lights off on Sunday morning! I was in town once for it and it was actually pretty funny. She kept being like, don't go to the front of the house, stay in the back!

    Lol! 😂

Fortunately, ours is very supportive and non judgmental when we aren't able to make it but I may feel more guilty if I was right next door. 😊

A mega church might be pretty nice to be near if one’s own family went to it and could walk over.

Oh my goodness! If it was by the building where we worship, I'd buy it in a heartbeat! No need for this post! Lol! It is very small though. Nowhere near mega church scale. 😁

My mom's house is bordered by an auto garage. The garage is across the street from a small grocery and strip mall. It's fine. She has a good fence. She likes that she's a two minute walk to the grocery (and it'll be even better as she ages because she'll still be able to hobble over there even after we take her keys... lol). I'd say it's mildly annoying for her but definitely worth it. But she's in an area that has mixed use. That's something that I didn't see brought up so much. I feel like it's one thing to be next to commercial property when you're in an area that has lots of small commercial lots around an older neighborhood... and something else to be in a suburban enclave but be at the very edge where you abut a large commercial development - like a strip mall of big box stores.

I agree with others that the mega-church could be okay

Your mom's location sounds lovely. But yes, the bold is more along the lines of what we are dealing with. Everyone wants to be deep into the subdivision and the houses on the main road are seen as undesireable. But they are there and people live in them! Lol!

The house by the mega church (and strip mall and 2 carwashes) was our least favorite. We just found ourselves talking about the other two houses and not talking about that mega church house at all. It had a beautiful backyard but I didn't like the kitchen at all. It was very dark and cave-like. I couldn't imagine preparing and eating 3 meals every day in there with my family. 😲Who knows? We may revisit it if the other doesn't pan out.

  14. Medical appointment this morning. The big kids will have independent schoolwork to complete while we are out.

Our independent out of the house lessons are things like gratitude journal, spelling practice, vocabulary roots, math practice problems, geography workbook, and I'll toss in a library book about our current science/history topic and a chapter book they are working on.

They usually don't get to everything and they can do things in whatever order they want. Whatever doesn't get done while we are out, has to get finished in the afternoon after lunch/snack and a nice long relaxing break.

Medical stuff is exhausting and we all need some time to decompress. On a similar note, I don't teach any new concepts on those medical days. 😉

  15. Okay, well we sat in the driveway facing the street (the house across from Wal-Mart) and ate our fast food lunch today.

Sunday is a busy day for Wal-Mart and this the the first day in three days the roads were not icy from 2 rounds of winter weather. So it was very busy.

Honestly, it wasn't too bad. It looked like people naturally slowed as they drove by the row of houses of which this house is part of.

It was okay enough that we are scheduled for a 2nd showing tomorrow plus an after dark showing to see what the parking lot light situation is. I've been texting our agent this afternoon and she was super helpful. This is what she suggested. (I always worry I'm taking too much of their time. Silly, I know.)

If we are comfortable with it, we are going to offer pretty low and see what happens. I would love the house with the 1/2 acre yard but it did need a little work, whereas this Wal-Mart house (lol🙄) is totally move in ready (and gorgeous inside).

And, guys: I hate Wal-Mart!!! 😂 I only go in there when I absolutely have to!

About 20 various pictures that ds has drawn or painted over the last 8 or so years. These are mostly on plain copypaper and are taped to the wall with scotch tape. Ds has put them there as gifts to us. Ninja guys, Pokemon, superheroes, nature art, an illustrated list of foods he dislikes, a funny one "No Girls Aloud" with an unflattering drawing of dd.

    That's awesome!

I encouraged you to speak to the who ever handles zoning because I know of a small town that very little zoning. There was a commercial strip mall that had residential homes across the street. The restaurant in the strip mall applied for a "strip club license" and the town had to give them the licence because the town had no zoning rules for strip clubs.

Dh and and I are cracking up laughing because after reading this silently to myself, I looked up at dh and said, "all the strip clubs are outside city limits, right?" He gave me the craziest look and started cracking up!

"Uh, why do you want to know? Why do you think I'd know?!!" 😂
