  1. It has taken me a 3 months to cobble together the course description document, school statement, LORs, Common App, wrap up 5 SAT II tests and several ACT efforts with my beloved son. I got a lot of help here and I want to thank all of you. YOU MOMS RULE !!!! Still have counselor letter, arts supplement and helping DS with all those essays before sending everything off. After 13 years of homeschooling in this apartment I have 6 more months, then I'm retiring from being his teacher. Dad's going fishing.
  2. Thank you all for responding. I am now well on my way cobbling together everything. 13 years of homeschooling coming to an end soon. OMG :seeya:
  3. That's incredibly helpful and kind of you. I will PM you.
  4. Hi all, I am a homeschooling dad suffering through senior year. I'm hoping someone can give me the benefit of their experience about preparing the transcript/course description. My son is applying to some pretty competitive schools and I'm unsure how detailed this all needs to be. 20 - 30 pages of descriptions, grading rubric, books and materials list, etc ? Portfolio of written work including lab notes, essays, arts portfolio, etc ? He has done the ACT and 2 SAT II subject tests and will be taking at least 2 more . I have a excel spreadsheet with listing of grades and courses by subject and also by grade, but its the detailed document that has me stumped. Would love to hear what some of you all did... Thanks in advance.
  5. IN NYC the dept of homeschooling can issue a "letter of substantial equivalency" signed by the superintendent. This is good for CUNY, SUNY, etc. My son will be applying to both CUNY and SUNY colleges this fall. You have to meet all the requirements for NYS graduation, which does not include Regents Exams. We submitted Stanford Achievement tests every year as part of the NYC homeschooling requirements along with IEP and quarterly reports. Private colleges and universities don't need this document. They want Standardized test scores, letter of recommendation, transcripts, course descriptions, etc. Hope this is helpful.
  6. Late post, I stayed with my son for a week there during the summer - a famous music education event is held there during the summers. My son and I thought it was quite charming . The scenery is amazing as its in the mountains and the folks I did meet from there were very friendly and down to earth. Food in cafeteria was good and the facilities were nice (although no AC in some of the dorms) Looking forward to going back next summer.
