  1. I know 3 kids from 2 different families who recently returned back to public school. One of the kids had been homeschooled from the begining and he was ranked #1 in his 9th grade class last year. The other two from the same family were only homeschooled for a year and both of them were commended on their test scores. The older one was #1 in his 8th grade class. My son returned to high school this year and I'm hoping that he does as well. He is back because he wanted to play sports and the school district here doesn't allow homeschoolers to play. My other children will most likely return in High School as well. We've known other families who have sent their children back and they were right on spot. I dont know of any who were behind. Angela
  2. Is there anywhere else besides MUS that sells the blocks. I know they are base 10 and I can get those at mardel but I want similar colors to MUS. Anyone know of a place that sells them? Thanks Angela

  6. :iagree: What a GREAT book!! Thank you SO much for the link. I'm going to use this over the summer for my soon to be 2nd grader. She will LOVE it. Thanks again.
  7. That's a GREAT idea! I didn't like reading when I was in school either. Actually, I don't think I EVER read anything that was assigned:eek: I'll find something that interests him and see if I can find a download for his ipod.
  8. I would like to have ds14 take a literature course. BUT he really hates reading and it's like pulling teeth to get him to do it. Any suggestions on a way to get literature done without the moaning and groaning I've come to expect?
  9. We are ending our 4th year. The main thing I wish like crazy I could change is the fact that my 3 older went to public school. I wish I would've homeschooled them from the beginning. Another thing I would change is the fact that the first two years were basically wasted because I was VERY relaxed. We did school when I felt like doing school. Or if they didn't want to do school work we would ditch it. THAT IS NOT WHAT GOING AT THEIR OWN PACE MEANS!!! Now it's a fight to get them to do work because they don't think they have to if they don't want to. I also would've spent more time teaching spelling. I have two that have horrible spelling. To the point that one spells nurse as nrs. And she is almost 11. So now I'm going to have to break old habits. All about spelling will come into play there. Also, I wish that I would've focused more on writing for my oldest.
  10. My 7 year old is having issues with her b's and d's. She spells using the wrong letter but the correct sound and sometimes will read with the wrong sound.. Even when she puts things in alphabetical order the b and d are in the wrong place.. What do I do?? Any help would be great. Thanks Angela
  11. Math u see is WONDERFUL. We haven't got to the algebra yet but all the other levels have been great. They teach in an easy to understand way.. My kids do well with it. Angela
  12. I've ordered from them a few times. The last time part of the order was "lost" in the mail. I had to wait, I think, 20 days and call back before they would actually issue another one. But they did and it came quickly. That's the only problem I've ever had and I wouldn't even consider that their fault... I hope they get this resolved soon. I'm anxious to know how they handled it. Angela
  13. I was wondering how people used the public domain books as well. I'm not one to sit at the computer to do a read aloud.. I'd rather cuddle with my kids on the couch. That way we are all comfy. It's more enjoyable that way.. There are a few that I will be printing out, Simply for the reason that I can't find them cheaply enough and also because I refuse to sit at the computer desk to read it. I really wish there was a way to get the illustrations and not just the text.. Angela
  14. My kids have already been in public school. Elementary school, but public just the same. I'm "planning" on homeschooling all the way through. But Things do happen,so we'll see. My kids are going into 7th,6th,4th, and k/1st. so we still have a ways to go before we get there. I definately won't be letting them go to junior high.
  15. My daughter will be 6 in October and is able to sound out CVC words most of the time, and knows some sight words. Angela
