Gross. If that's true, I've now changed my opinion.

Going to the dentist or ortho in the time of Covid?
Andani replied to mommyoffive's topic in The Chat Board
Both our dentist and ortho were closed for a few months, so we rescheduled our checkups. When they opened, we went. -

No, you're not the only one. -
What little thing are you looking forward to or happy about?

I'm setting up a Zoom bedtime story with my nieces and nephews. -
If it helps, we wouldn't do that either. Welcome to the bad guy parents club. 💙

I treat covid as every other virus. I breathe fresh air. I go to work, church, and school. I invite people over for dinner and games. I only support businesses that don't infringe on their customers' medical freedom. When I get home, I wash my hands.

I think you have a great idea. If it was me, I would plan minimal activities, and just enjoy whatever got done that week. Maybe think of simple meals and only do basic chores like laundry and light cleaning. I hope you and your family have a wonderful time!

Is anyone planning outdoor picnics for Thanksgiving?
Andani replied to Alicia64's topic in The Chat Board
This reminded me that a few years ago we went out after our Thanksgiving meal and built a bonfire, then used up some fireworks we had leftover from the Fourth. That was fun. And cold. 😊 -
About the grapes- I let them soak in a glass container of water in the fridge. I do the same with celery stalks. They last several days.

You are a fountain of wisdom and information! I appreciated your posts here when I started homeschooling in, hmmm, 2007. I still love it when I see you list a bunch of great books for somebody, and I think, there's Lori D!

Your kids have just as much right to use the spots as anyone else does! If you and they can tolerate masks and wash your hands, just go enjoy the library. I wish ours would open.

Your menu for 4th of July backyard family BBQ?
Andani replied to Ali in OR's topic in The Chat Board
We're having burgers, hot dogs, and s'mores. Also Greek salad, which is chopped cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, black olives, and feta cheese with Gazebo Greek dressing. We usually have all the siblings and nieces and nephews over, but not this year. I'm sad about that. -
If none of the neighbors know each other, it makes sense that he wants to meet and discuss a plan before (or in case) you need one. Why presuppose he's of a certain mindset? Wouldn't neighbors and strangers usually give each other the benefit of the doubt? Why does it need to be reported to some authority when there are no known details of anything in the letter? If you don't want to meet, then just don't.

We've used t-shirt sleeves, around the neck like an infinity scarf, then just pulled up over the nose when we want the mask.

Oh, wait, baby and toddler! Just model and practice. 😄

Not sure how old your children are. Ours still need reminding, but there's definitely been improvement since they were younger. So far, the person working from home uses earplugs to help block out noise. No one's allowed in his work room. Over the years, I've modeled quiet voice and stopped the loud one to make him or her practice speaking more quietly. One major problem we've had is someone walking into the room talking, even though there is a conversation in progress already. We call it "making announcements" and I call it out, then make the announcer wait till a break in the conversation. I use a signal that means "lower the volume". It's just my hand held up, then lowered. If I have to, I separate people who are too rowdy. If they can't go outside, they can read, play quietly, draw, or exercise. I believe kids need playtime, and free time, and time to be silly, but there are times when that's not appropriate. Part of their training is to recognize those times and adjust accordingly. If they can't do that independently yet, they take their lead from me.

Oh sorry! I just realized you gave answers already!

Questions! 🤗 Can you overlap these? Do they each follow and give credit for all purchases, or do they accept certain categories? Do you report particular purchases through particular apps? Thank you!

I think it would be like that for me too. Thank you!

Thank you, everyone! I knew you would know all about it. I didn't even realize they worked on a desktop, which will be much better for me than using my phone.
