  1. Haven't read the replies.....I think it's more an age thing. I notice moms in their mid-forties or above tend to embrace the HS stereotype. I don't know anyone I can think of around my age (early 30s) or younger that fits the HS stereotype. Although, I am a part of some conservative large-family groups online, and several of those ladies would. But no one I know IRL, because I wouldn't be close friends with those really conservative women IRL. Most people around here are pretty hip and fashionable, and we live in small-town USA. eta: we do have a 12-passenger van (that I totally love) but that's because our family size is too big to fit into minivans anymore.
  2. He doesn't get much sleep. Maybe 5 hours? He has been much more tired recently.
  3. Not sure...it's just something she's noticed in the past year or two. Not every time is it noticeable. Maybe it is just due to fatigue or stress? To be fair, it's something she notices in her hand as things are happening. It doesn't seem to make much difference in the feeling during the act, but it's definitely much more "malleable," as a PP put it, in the hand. :p Scary. What do you suggest he get tested for? She scheduled him for a physical and he will be getting labwork done. Since she won't be going and this is just something she's mentioned once to him offhand, she doubts it will even come up at all.
  4. wouldn't 33 be a little early for such severe heart issues as to cause problems down there!? No history of heart problems in his family...
  5. could she just ask him to get his cholesterol checked? Is that a good indicator of heart disease status?
  6. how would you suggest...my friend...bring this up to her husband to address with his doctor? She mentioned it once in an inquiring way and said husband was horrified and offended.
  7. TMI.............. just wondering if it's normal for things to get less hard in the male department. No problem with erection, but it's not as hard as it used to be. We're still in our early 30s. Is this the beginnings of impotence? asking for a friend of course.....
  8. Thank you all for the ideas. I wasn't aware of that re: ghee. I would guess our Fred Meyer would have ghee? That's the closest thing to a HFS we have around here. He wants him off dairy because of his behavioral symptoms. This is my SPD kid who tends toward being lethargic and out of it. We already have him off wheat, which helped a lot, but now he's showing a lot of the same behaviors from before we took him off wheat. I worry about the fat and protein. Dairy is one of the few things he enjoys. He will not eat veggies. I'm going to have to re-do our whole meal plan. Again. :/
  9. My 9yo is very picky. He has sensory issues and he's just a picky kid. He's not on wheat because he's allergic. His doctor also now wants me to take him off of dairy. The problem is, he's very skinny and has dropped 30% in weight since his last checkup. :( I'm worried about him and want him to gain weight, but I'm not sure what to do when he's so picky, and especially now that his Dr. wants him off dairy. Any ideas? He doesn't like vegetables. He also has a documented allergy to peanuts, but peanuts don't seem to bother him, so I do give him peanut butter on fruit. I have a severe allergy to eggs, so I try not to give him too many eggs. Ugggh.
  10. I'm not disagreeing with you. I know this sounds cliche and obnoxious (sorry), but just because you don't believe in God doesn't mean He's not still your creator and holding you in His hand.
  11. It's the heart's intent that counts. That is what Christians believe we will all be judged on. It doesn't sound like you did anything wrong.
  12. I'm trying to think of one. It would require a tic or a break in consciousness or something. What are plenty of bad actions that start with "no thought at all?"
  13. Just because you are an atheist does not mean you are not still a child of God. :) For someone to commit a murder they have to REALLY go off the rails. It has nothing to do with their beliefs (unless they are a part of some extremist group that expressly teaches one to murder).
  14. Archbishop Fulton Sheen referred to hearing confessions from nuns as being "stoned to death by popcorn." So yes, there are people who confess even those "little" sins.
  15. In Catholic-speak, the little sins are called "venial" and the big sins are called "mortal" and a Christian can most definitely commit a mortal sin...but as you are sensing, it kills the life of Grace within him. That doesn't mean he wasn't a Christian...it's just a pesky consequence of free will.
  16. But if those people had been taught that from childhood, and truly believed it, don't you think far fewer crimes would have gone past bad thoughts? All bad actions start with bad thoughts. All of them.
  17. Not sure if anyone's shared this little gem yet: http://dougwils.com/s7-engaging-the-culture/vice-victims-and-vision-forum.html
  18. My baby is almost 1, and navy stripes were all the rage. I think he looked absolutely adorable in them!
  19. So you can assign motives to them when they have specifically said otherwise (that they do the show to encourage others)? I think assigning motives and saying that as 100% fact is going too far.
  20. Their livelihood is not based on "being celebrities," when did they sign the deal for the regular, weekly show with TLC, 5 or 6 years ago? It hasn't been THAT long. And before that they were making it just fine, they saved up enough to build their own house debt free, Jim Bob has been wise with investments, he owns property that a cell phone tower sits on...they were doing just fine. They are not your typical reality TV star (obviously) who wants stardom.
  21. I think it's just plain silly to pick on the grown Duggar kids. They are obviously turning out beautifully. They are successful, well-adjusted kids who are contributing members of society. That is more than many parents can say. To pick on their hairstyle (the grown girls have beautiful hair IMO) or nitpick about any of their other choices comes across as petty. Maybe that would have flown 8 years ago when the show first came out, but they are obviously doing something right.
  22. Beg pardon? But okay, Joanne. Whatever you say.
  23. Really, Joanne? A "violation?" No names, you don't even know who I am let alone who my friend is or who this girl is. Please. But whatever, I deleted it, I think the ship has now sailed.
