I was in Vegas a couple of years ago and stayed at Marriott's Grande Chateau. It is right off the strip and has suites with free laundry and kitchens. It may be a little more than you were planning to pay, but you could cook some of your own food and that would save you $$$$. Most restaurant meals in Vegas now run $15-20 per person and most buffets (even the ones downtown) are on the high end of that. The hotel is nice and has a pool. How is everyone doing on this? I am a Lifetime WW member that is currently *gulp* 30 pounds over goal. I feel gross. I want to wear my cute clothes. I am intrigued by this new Freestyle program. I eat a primarily plant based diet, but tend to overeat junk food (think tostitos) for pure enjoyment and to relieve stress. I also seem to have 0 control at social situations. Thankfully, I do not go out or to parties much, so that is not an immediate problem. I loosely started following the Freestyle program from what I could glean off the internet on Saturday and already feel much better. I am lucky because I LOVE the zero point foods (fruit veggies, beans) and they were already staples in my diet. I need the frame of this program to keep from overeating bread and to severely limit chips. I feel like this is the best WW program yet for the plant based crowd (vegetarian/fully plant based programs have always been one small booklet on the side in previous years.) Going to start with the full program information this weekend. Looking for some advice and encouragement.

But what is crazy is that it is not secular. I really wanted to use it, but the biology talks about intelligent design and I have read other reviews that there are a few non-secular things in random places scattered throughout the curriculum. After my fancy washer broke after 2 years (yes, I was mad. It was a Maytag Bravos), I went and bout the very basic model Whirlpool with an agitator. Have run it every day, doing multiple loads, with no issue for the last 4 years. Still going strong. Only downside is it is hard to wash my queen comforter in it.

There are several buy/sell curriculum groups on FB. Some are general, some are secular only, some are specific to a particular publisher (they exist for many of the big names). You post your product according to their rules (always found on the group page) and people comment that want to buy it. If you post the same stuff on more than one group, you should note that it is cross-posted. You can accept payment with paypal or FB pay method (forgot what it is called). Many of the groups have specific rules on how you handle the photos (all in an album, only 1 pic per item, etc), so pay attention when posting.

The photos on FB and Twitter of all the horrible broken desks that have not been replaced years and crumbling textbooks are shocking. Many teachers do not even have enough textbooks for all their students. My hometown has organized childcare at some schools and many faith organizations are providing it free of charge. Food to feed kids who need it is also available at certain neighborhood schools. I sent some random teacher on FB $15 after she posted pictures of her classroom on FB. (Her post was shared by a friend of mine in education and I trust that it is real.) Just awful. Heartbreaking.

First, so happy to be back! Had a glitch with my user name and just got access this morning. Feel relieved. I started reading Educated last night and am about 2/3 of the way through. I am a little freaked by all the violence and remember that there was a thread about it somewhere on here. Does anybody have the link to that thread? Hope everyone is enjoying the new forum.
