  2. My 10 year old is constantly being handful refuses to do work or fights with me about it. He distracts the younger kids and most days I feel like I am fighting with him to get work done then any work is actually getting done. I am frustrated and feel like throwing in the towel. I am considering putting him back in public school Any advice would be greatly appreciated
  3. They have this book at my library just put a hold on it. Looking at some of the other symptoms sounds like me. My family tease me that I have the nose of a blood hound, bright lights really bother me can't wait to read this book
  4. I wish he didn't take it so personal. We have been married 22 years and it has probably gotten worse as I've gotten older and have kids all over me all the time, plus I have been pregnant or nursing or both for the last 10 years.
  5. I have never been a touchy feely kind of person even when I was little. Hugging makes me uncomfortable. I don't have any issues with my kids hugging and touchy me, but can be overwhelmed by too much. I married into a very touchy feely family and have been made to feel like there is something wrong with me because if it. I am not sure how to deal with this since it bothers hubby when I push him away or avoid physical contact. I love him more than anything but, it makes him feel like I don't. I know it also bothers my mom that I don't hug her as much as dh does. Could this be a sensory disorder?
  6. I have a hold for it at the library, now I am scared :-)
  7. Thanks, all great ideas. I have been thinking of a year round schedule especially since living where its so hot in summer that the kids don't go outside much unless its to the pool. Thank you I am feeling much better today :-)

  9. I have had a migraine for the last two days I was unable to teach or get out of bed. How do you handle situations like this? I was thinking of having them do some work on Saturday.
  10. Thanks for all those ideas I think a lot if those will work with my kids
  11. I think am doing pretty good about not recreating ps. We do morning meetings around 9:30. Today I even took them to the park this morning hoping that would help them get there energy out and not be wiggle worms. I don't expect total silence just when I am reading I expect that the are quiet and I let them color during morning meeting
  12. How long of an adjustment period for kids who were pulled out of public school? I have really good days get lots accomplished and then days like today when the kids think everything is funny and let's see how far we can push mama. Today sadly I did give up. I was so frustrated abd could feel my blood boiling sent them to do quiet time reading in their rooms. I am planning trying again after quiet time and see how it goes. How do you handle off days?
  13. My dd hates the letter factory she refuses to watch it is bored with starfall yet she still doesn't know all letters or sounds. She is 5 and I am now just reading to her as much as I can, and do flashcards daily. I don't kniw what else to do just wait until she finally gets it I guess

  16. Makes perfect sense thank you so much for taking the time to write it down. I love the idea of weekly rotation of chores.
  17. Yes, please I would love more details about your chore system :)
  18. I was thinking Khan would be good to use. I love that they have videos I am a visual learner its how I taught my self to knit.
  19. Math by far is my weakest area I am horrible and I mean horrible. I have always juat told myself that my brain just doesn't understand numbers. I would love to be better at it's awful when I can't help my 4 and 8th grader with their math. I would aslo love to better better with grammar as I go through the grammar with my son I realize I was never taught or just never paid attention to it and have already learned something I didn't know. I of course don't have the time to actually take a class, so these are things I would have to be able to learn on my own. I have also decided to give up Netflix for awhile and replace that time with reading.
  20. I have been a stay at home mom my entire life I have had a couple of jobs, but for the majority of my life I have been home with children. There are days when i feel like my brain is mush. How can I exercise my brain? I have always loved to read and learn new things I just never seem to have the time to do those things. I struggle with my ability to teach my children
