  1. My son is the same way. We use MUS for math and he does well with that. For science we have used Apologia but library books work just as good because he will read any kind of animal books. He likes small worksheets for English, so I used sheets ran off from the computer. Next year I plan on using LLATL. My son works while listening to classical music so that he can concentrate longer. He learned to do that during occupational therapy. I hope some of this helps.
  2. My four year old will sit still for 10-15 min. at a time, depending on the activity. She likes to be read to, but will sit longer for crafts of course. She is in to making up stories lately for me to write down for her, so she will sit for longer for that also.
  3. Thanks for sharing, I was looking for something for my son for next year.
  4. That is so neat! A place where I can finally search without going through tons of other stuff. I used it to find something that I was searching for and I found it in no time. Thank you for sharing.
  5. We do school 5 days a week, unless something comes up like a cool field trip.
  6. My son did TT7 this year and made an A in the course with no complaining all year about doing math. He struggled with Saxon. I voted number 2 because we decided to go with Math relief for Algebra 1 this year. It was too hard on us to get his math done when we had to be gone to grandparents house to help them, so we chose something not done on computer. By the way my son did very well in testing this year in math, so I do not feel that it held him back any.
  7. I plan on using English I with my 8th grader this year as soon as Janice gets it finished. She has a pinched nerve in her shoulder right now and she told me in an email last week that she was almost finished with it. I have not used it before, but it looks promising so I thought I would give it a try.
  8. We got our NLD diagnosis several months ago and my son sounds alot like yours. I have spent many hours researching it on the web and what I have concluded is that my son is the way he is no matter what they say. I took the information they gave me and applied it to my sons needs. It is important to realize that everyone is different and that they are not going to fit into the box exactly the same as the others. The report can be confusing I know. My sister helped explain mine to me. My neuro-psychologist did tell me that my son would not be doing as well academically if it was not for me homeschooling him, so I am doing something right. He also said that NLD children learn best be hearing, if that helps any. I have started reading all instructions to my son and have him repeat them back and that has helped.
  9. My son was diagnosed with this about 7 months ago. We are still learning what works as far as curriculum and such goes. I can tell you that we work in small sessions and most of our work is done orally. He does do some worksheets for English, but I keep them short. We use Math-u-see for math and it is working great. He will be attending OT as soon as we can get in to see one. For reading time, I have found that if I read some and then he reads some we can get through it without a meltdown or tired eyes. He is going into the 5th grade this year, but we will still not do no more than 3 hours of school a day. My neuro-psych told me since he learns mostly by hearing then to use that to my advantage and so I try to make sure he hears all directions clearly. I never give him any work that he does not hear the directions and then repeats them back to me to make sure he understands them. There is a ton of information on the web. If you need more help, you can pm me.
