  1. Facebook might be good but I prefer myself and my child especially, to have anonymity. From my Facebook profile, which uses my real name, one could easily find out who they are. I don't think it's fair to kids to have it all put out there without their knowledge or permission. Some things are personal and private, even LDs.
  2. To the OP, I totally agree with the level of discomfort you are experiencing. With all the talk of pedophiles and abusers of children in the news lately, I would restrict my child to being covered (pants) in the presence of people outside of the family. This isn't any reflection on the OP, but sometimes the abusers are even extended family members or close friends. They can be quite sly. Didn't they say JD was actually doing inappropriate touching in the presence of others? Why would parents expose their children to those possibilities? Just my opinion but I think I would use boundaries for behaviors like this.
  3. Thank you for answering. I got to see the two red bite marks on the upper arm and the tick, which was really tiny. It was probably there since yesterday and found late this morning. Not sure if it was a nymph or adult but definitely a deer tick. Thanks again!
  4. I have lyme disease but still consider myself a newbie. A friend was bit by a deer tick within the past day and has saved the tick. Just a small bite mark at this point, was found attached to arm, no rash yet. What should they do? They are asking me what to do as far as needing to see a doctor and possibly needing treatment. This is very different from my own experience as I had actual symptoms, so I am not sure what to tell them to do as far as seeing their doctor and getting on doxy. Not sure how responsive their clinic will be but heard they are starting to take it more seriously as they are finding it in many patients. Thanks for any advice!
  5. It's a great feeling isn't it? Congratulations on your success with your son! :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:
  6. Deep cleaning that I find hard to get around to and physically handle anymore.
  7. I have a kindle and also shelves and shelves of books. I like the kindle for the fact that I don't have much space left for more books. But I like to look back and ahead in various types of books, look at indexes, etc., and I find it difficult to go back and forth like that. For reading a novel or if the price is much lower, I will go with e-books. But if it is informational in nature, I like the hard copy. It would drive me crazy to follow a recipe on an e-book. But that's just me!
  8. I remember my older sisters being crazy about him in Dr. Zhivago but I remember him best in Funny Girl. And he even sang in that one. :001_smile:
  9. I answered other-never really did much trick or treating as we didn't live in a typical neighborhood (nobody ever came to the houses on our street). Usually attended a church sponsored event on that day. They dressed up for that until about 7th grade.
  10. Hope she feels better soon and you can find a good alternative. Reaction to that one here was very different than what you experienced with your dd. Also had to change and we waited a while. Interesting how it affects everyone so differently. Good luck!
  11. So very sorry to hear of the loss of your dear son. I will remember your family in my prayers! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  12. There is also a free app called Caller Name ID in case you want more specific caller id info on a cell phone. This way we get the name and number. It even tells you if it's probably a scam.
  13. Prayers for you and your family! I hope everything turns out for the best. That is a lot to deal with. :grouphug: :grouphug:
  14. I also think people don't realize that sometimes there are waiting lists to get into facilities for the elderly. When a crisis arises, one cannot always get a place and that can be very difficult to deal with. And having someone in a nursing home doesn't mean everything is taken care of. There are still doctor's appointments at other locations and that can take quite a bit of coordination. It would also be nice if we would have these discussions with our children before we get to a certain point in our lives and see what would be realistic for the future, for both parents and children. I have talked to my children about what I would be okay with in the future and we understand where each one is coming from.
  15. Congrats! So fun to see the results of all of the hard work!
  16. Praying for your son and your family! :grouphug:
  17. My ds 16 will be in 10th grade this fall. Still waiting for the written copy of his new NP eval so I can process it all in written form. He did have some gains in scores from three years ago and the psych did give me credit for whatever I was doing as far as working with him. (Didn't expect that;) I will join in later when I have looked things over a bit more.
  18. My LLMD recommended the Jarrow brand saccharomyces boulardii+MOS at iherb.com but I just found it cheaper on amazon. I paid $16.25 for a bottle of 90. I know prices can go up and down on amazon so it may be cheaper on iherb at times.
  19. Yes, I have had two kids on this med, one still taking it. It is usually a very small dose so it doesn't really affect their BP. Mine had their BP monitored at each med check appointment and it was always fine. It took a bit of adjusting for one of my dc before it was okay. The other, with more serious adhd symptoms, had problems with it making him tired. It did seem to work for a while and then it kind of stopped having a positive affect. If you have more questions feel free to PM.
  20. So glad you have some answers. Too bad the previous meds and diagnosis made things so difficult but you have a new beginning to be thankful for now! Good luck to you and your sons.
  21. Okay, thanks, but would like to find a more neutral source. I googled as well but mostly found this quoted on sites they would not consider as credible. CBS news said they denied the statements of support and tweets were misinterpreted at the time. Just want to be sure before I pass it on. I will keep looking but appreciate the lead.
  22. I am in NO way defending JD, but what hate organization are you referring to? Do you mean FRC? Where is there proof of this as I know people who are members and they might like to know (not me).
  23. Needles Highway is really cool! We also loved Crazy Horse. We have gone there over the years and it has really grown.See the movie when you enter to get the most from the experience.
  24. I agree about looking at Memoria Press. I used a few of their things this year and I did like their materials. You don't necessarily need to use the special needs bundles. My dc were too old for those but you can nicely adjust some of the materials to where your child is at academically. We mostly used the literature guides and will continue to do so next fall.
