  1. Last weekend it became clear I can't PM anymore, and can't be PM-ed anylonger. How can I reactivate my PM options? Thanks for helping me.
  2. I am not sure how to 'translate' British textbooks to USA standards on an accelerated forum, but I am very happy with the IGCSE Chemistry text: http://m.bookdepository.com/Complete-Chemistry-for-Cambridge-IGCSE-with-CD-ROM-Ingram/9780199138784 It covers our grade 9/10 requirements for Chemistry. It is definetly not a 'last station' but it explains very logically to me. Not sure if it is what you are looking for, just want to share this book ;)
  3. Does anybodu knows a French equivalent of this: http://m.bookdepository.com/Real-Writing-1-Edition-with-answers-Audio-CD/9783125345256 It is about writing in day-to-day situations: thank you notes, to fill in a form, a request etc. I need it for our French 8th grade exam

  5. Italian seasoning Mix of cinnamon and Laurel
  6. When the 'new' law required 8th grade exams for homeschoolers, we were not happy (politely said). Dd was so immature, and I thought each exam would become a drama. It turned out to the opposite, dd attended the least liked subjects first, passed all the exams, and matured a lot. DH and I are very amazed, we had never expected such a grow in maturity. Even when Brussel striked, and we had problems to reach the examcentre she didn't panic and stayed calm. I'm so proud on her! Nevertheless we will be glad when we are done with this requirement :)
  7. Would this be helpfull? http://homeschoolersresources.blogspot.be/p/physical-science.html
  8. How can I turn it on? I don't see the messaging option anymore. Can you contact Tress privately? She can give my gmail adres.
  9. If dd pass three more 8th grade exams this schoolyear we can be considered highschool next year I suppose. Good news is that grade 9/10 have no required exams, so we can relax a little before heading to the grade 11/12 exams. Bad news is we have to chose tracks, and that is hard when you are young, but hopefully we can add some fun back in our homeschooling :) So far I've planned for grade 9/10 ( Belgium schoolsystem works in pairs of two years): AoPs Intro A, Flemish Statistics, and still in search for some Trig topics, not sure if we will continue with AoPs after this, probably not. Latin, Greek, Dutch (Flemish textbooks) BJU Physical Science + IGCSE Chemistry ( no exam, just a good text) TEE, WttW, Introduction to Poetry, after that: Omnibus Word Wealth BJU World Geography, BJU World Studies Still pondering about French and German. Electives: MP Logic, Dutch and Flemish civics/government Pondering about how to cover debate with one child. Attending academy for fine arts, still in search for a new piano teacher, folk dance. Not for next year but on the shelves: Philosophy, Medical Ethic, Psychology
  10. I finished 'Shirley' ( in Dutch) this week. I still love the book. I would like to have translations of Wives and Daughters (Gaskell) or Vilette (Bronte). Unfortuneteley they don't exist. I will pick another Bronte or Austen....)
  11. If dd passes 3 more exams this schoolyear we will start highschool in september. So yes, I'm planning. Our sequence is different from the USA one, and we don't have transcripts, just exit exams in grade 12 about grade 11 and 12. So grade 9 and 10 will have more freedom then grade 7 and 8 had. So I'm thinking about the the things I want to do, but couldn't do the last years. I want to do them before a new round of exams come.
  12. I love the idea!!!! Although I don't think it will be easy to attend from a Western-European timezone :(
  13. No, I never have. although somehow people expected I could. So I had to rewrite many papers, and had always feedback in the style: 'not good enough for this level'.
  14. I love my continuing reading in Shirley. As I became a little bit ill this week, I didn't read much in Le Petit Prince
  15. I don't think I have ever lived in a city that big... Not being able to see the moon.... Despite of all the lights of the gas station nearby, we can see lot, when it is not cloudy (and cloudy it can be) But I have Only fieldguides for western Europe, so in a lot of places they would be no help. My starguide was the most universal I could think about in the 'nature study' category i think I thought being sent to a desolate place... Mmm.
  16. I don't know if it would be the same to your family, but we love the lake district. It is in Northern England, jus below the scottish border in the west. As the Netherlands and Belgium are really flat ( at least where I live(d)) we are very impressed by its nature. the Lake District is als known as Cumbria www.visitcumbria.co.uk
  17. I had the same image ;)Somehow to be undercover for a while and live isolated in the middle of nowhere And to be undercover one can't take traceble divices with you
  18. Ah I read your additions now Hunter. Mm i don't think it would change much
  19. For this moment: AoPS Intro Algebra My study bible, a hymnbook Geografica ( a book with information about almost any country in the world) A double pack of playcards Our Dutch book of children poetry, we never have time for it, but with at least 1000 pages we will have enough to learn. paper, pencils etc. I hesitate to pack fieldguides, but probably a book about astronomy, stars can be seen anywhere. I'm hesitating about science but would probably opt for a semi professional book about the human body although we have almost finished lifescience. But it doesn't require experiments ;) SOTW 1-4 and one book about dutch history. If I would have a Large Suitcase I would also pack Watershipdown ( in English) , Heidi ( in German) , and a solid French book maybe the Three Musketiers or The Count of Monte Christo. A greek New Testament and a Latin-Dutch edition of the rule of Benedict. An inflatable ball and a skippingrope. I have one child, heading? To highschool This would work for about 2 years I suppose, with many rereadings of the books. But this should work to continue on her foreign Languages ...
  20. Sense and sensibility differs a lot from the Emma Thompson movie IMO, I prefer the movie  We are fond of the dialogues in Pride and Prejudice, Still I like Emma also... Sigh, I'm no help in suggesting Austens I suppose. I hope to improve my English that much I can read Austen and Bronte in English...
