  1. Here is something I just found in a random part of the forum, hope it helps! http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/groups/119-free-curriculum-for-the-price-of-printing/ resources (I haven't used them, but they look fine)
  2. Our family didn't like Saxon math, because it was too much like going to school (learn it for the test and then regurgitate it) We used a lot of different things growing up, one thing that I will recommend is Math-U-See. It is a fantastic program that is well equips the parent and the student. It helps you teach your kid (there are videos and lesson plans, workbooks and different tools to use) I wish we would have used it sooner! The other great thing is, you can get most of the books used in good condition for a great price. I hope my 2 cents helped, it is not that we are opposed to the people that used Saxon (because I know that it is the King of math in the homeschool world) It is just not the type of learning we wanted. Figure out what you want for your child, our goal was to cultivate life long learning and this math helped. Hope this helped!
  3. Welcome to the forums! So glad you made the leap to homeschooling. I was homeschooled all the way up through the ranks and that is something I will never be able to thank my parents enough for. Keep on teaching on! Have a fantastic week. God Bless!
  4. I am sorry you are having problems :( You just need to keep on posting and then you will be changed from "just visiting" to "Hive Mind Larvae" Etc. They just want you to be a consistent member. Have fun post in random forums, explore and look around. Join in on the conversations over in this part of the forum >>> http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/groups/
  5. I have decided to start my own small blog, I don't have a lot of content yet but what I do have I am very passionate about. It is for Christian encouragement and challenges. Please come check me out, give me feedback and let me know what you think! http://theroadlt.blogspot.com/
  6. I agree and I can NEVER find those cute sort of skirts, unless they are already on someone else. Does anyone know where to get cute, flare at the bottom relatively cheap skirts?
  7. Yes, all of our couches and sofas are either from the goodwill or off of craigslist and we have not had ANY issues with them. Go and look at it, and then use your gut instinct. When you get it home CLEAN it, it will be fine.
  8. Very nice blog, great content and I enjoy the pictures as well because it makes things more personal. I would recommend making your blog "bigger" I mean under layout you can widen the actually content so that there is more of an area to work with and have all of your writing it, it also makes things easy to read/bigger.
  9. My name gets spelled/said wrong all the time, although I try to go with the flow I don't want people to find out years later that they have been calling me the wrong name, so I usually gently correct them.
  10. Has anyone tried the "Banana Pancake" recipe? It is 2 banana's and 2 eggs, It looks like pancakes, cooks like pancakes...but I am guessing the taste is different.
  11. Although I haven't been "labeled" chronic. I am fighting Dysautonomia, which is a dysfunction in your nervous system. It can attack all areas of your health, for me I have had Mono, Tachycardia, Fatigue, Pneumonia, Migraines, You get the point...Not fun :glare: I am not a Mom yet, I am a stay at home daughter so it is a bit different for me, but I have been finding it hard to continue with normal day to day tasks. I think a support group for long term illness would be a great idea.
  12. It is just a fancy way of labeling if you are new or how much experience you have. That way if someone, who is new, has a question, they can go up to a "builder bee" and ask for help. It is just for fun. Get out there and post under different topics and you will see your "title" change naturally.
  13. I am living proof that a child can graduate from being homeschool her whole life and 1. Have a social life 2. Love Learning! 3. Love her parents 4. Make it "In the real world" 5. Know how to have a conversation 6. Be a well-rounded being I know a LOT of stereotypical "titles" get shoved onto homeschoolers, and this simply isn't true. We can be the most well rounded people you will ever meet. I have had the most amazing opportunities as a homeschooler, that I never would have even thought of had I been in school. So if you are a parent, thinking of homeschooling, or going all the way though I say DO IT! I has changed my life for the better and I love every second of it. What are your opinions on homeschooling all the way through? What is the most outlandish "title" you have been given as a homeschooler?
