  1. *evil grin* 50 shades of grey and its sequels :)
  2. I'm trying a new approach, augmenting my kids' usual curriculum with learning games- sort of sneak the learning in when they least expect it :P So, what sort of games would you guys recommend for my 8 yr old ds? He's got math and reading down quite well, I'm more thinking history and geography. Thanks!
  3. Honestly, diet changes are much easier to stick to and, for me, are much more effective. I found that when i really upped the exercise, my appetite went through the roof and i just ate more to compensate. One rather primitive but, for me, effective trick was to keep an empty beer bottle by the sink. I'd fill it with water and chug it twice, then go eat a very small meal.
  4. Sounds like you'd love the dialogue of portal :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SCnZqsJVZ8
  5. Didn't realize google was doing this! This is incredibly good news. Thing with a book is, usually your book has to be much more thoroughly researched to be published. I'd say the largest portion of the world's valid information is in books.
  6. That's a rather violent escalation. I'd just approach your brother and talk to him. Firstly, ask him if there is indeed anything inappropriate going on. If there is, encourage him to end it. Tell him to repair his relationship with his wife and to avoid this kind of thing again. I don't think you should wreck your relationship with him and ruin a marriage.
  7. Axis and Allies is a great strategy game, or dungeons and dragons if you want something a little more fastpaced and imaginative.
  8. http://theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=11211.0#.Us_KoZ5dXWM How does one even combat this kind of delusion?? :confused1:
  9. http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-adware-popup-ads/ This has a great step-by-step tutorial, i used it last time Chrome got infected.
  10. /me turns off adblocker and goes to check... No, i am not seeing it. Do you sometimes see normal text turned into a clickable link? Like, you will see a forum post, and it will say: "I used a baking service today!" And if you click the link, it will redirect you to a site to buy something. If you have that going on, you have gotten adware on your computer.
  11. D: My cupcakes! Yeah, I was joking. Apart from 1 of them, I've never given the threads much reading time.
  12. Don't get windows 8 :P That's about all the computer advice i can give.
  13. I figured it was about time someone posted a really unpopular opinion :D
  14. UO: I intensely dislike the "Who's tackling _____day with me?" posts.
  15. UO: I hate pink floyd's music.
  16. Australia or the UK, sadie? (And you came back quick :P)
  17. For those who are still reading: LOL. Yeah, surely all criminals will just turn their guns in. While we are fantasizing, can I have world peace and unlimited green energy?
  18. The two are not mutually exclusive. The percentage of children killed by firearms is minute compared to other sources of danger. Throwing away fundamental US rights in an attempt to "save the children" is misguided.
  19. If all you are pushing is "expanded background checks"- the kid was perfectly capable of passing a background check. I assumed you actually MEANT your words, that you wanted to "deny him a gun". Obviously, if the background check would not stop him from getting a gun, you'd have to do something else-ban the guns.. I LIKE guns, I like shooting, I like to hunt, and I want to be able to pass all of that on to my children. I don't give a flip about whether the gun manufacturers make money or not. Calling an argument "tired and defeatist" is a convenient way to avoid responding to it, isn't it?
  20. This is the most spitefully petty comment i have ever seen. Do you even have an inkling of how we love our children?
  21. Congratulations! Getting a book published is a great feat, especially at her age.
  22. The best method to eliminate crime would be to eliminate all free will, all ambition, all emotion. Until that happens, banning guns is an ineffective approach to the problem. I ask you- how would you deny all would-be mass shooters a gun? Firearms are a relatively simplistic technology. You cannot un-invent them, nor will you ever succeed in finding and destroying any significant portion of the world's current unregistered firearms. Thus, the classic argument: What is accomplished by creating laws requiring the disarming of the populace in the hope criminals will obey them? On another note.. Iff you can somehow eliminate firearms- Do you think people who are willing to put days, weeks, even months, into planning an assault will be balked by having difficulty getting firearms? Ever heard of timothy mcveigh?
