  1. I bought my brother a membership as a Christmas gift. He loves it. He says everyone there is really kind, but there definitely is a "cycle community". There are people who go several times a day.
  2. I hope you get the the thorough care you need Melissa
  3. I’m sorry you aren’t feeling well Melissa. Medical stuff is so hard. There can be so much going on and we don’t always know the questions to ask or even remember to ask them when we do have them…often because we are stressed, in pain, or ill
  4. But why? If they had just abducted her without the 9-1-1 call, her family would have to go through the rigmarole of waiting for a certain time period for her to be considered missing and then “prove” to the police that she’s not the type of woman who would up and leave. This calls all sorts of attention to the issue. Even if they wanted a misdirect, the case is gaining enough traction to have her story being spread all around the US
  5. This. She already has a degree in psychology and is going for a nursing degree. If she wanted to slip away quietly, this wouldn’t be the way to do it.
  6. This is what I read as well. There are so many questions and unknowns here.
  7. You could do episodic television like Reading Rainbow or The Magic School bus
  8. Anyone more local know more about this? It’s so unnerving. I keep looking for updates to see if Carlee has been located. The kid too. https://www.cnn.com/2023/07/14/us/carlee-russell-missing-alabama/index.html
  9. That is good news. Hope you will be able to get a bit of rest today.
  10. So sorry Melissa. I’m glad he’s at the hospital and that he will have the focused attention of the doctors and nurses. Healing thoughts to him and a warm, tight hug for you.
  11. Best of luck to him. Congratulations on all your hard work in preparing and nurturing them
  12. I hired someone to resurface my tub and they offered to do the tile. It looked great when it was done. It’s not a forever solution but it definitely could last several years.
  13. Offer-Up is great to get rid of free stuff. Put it in front of the house. Take a picture of the whole pile of stuff. Run the ad. This worked better for me then listing item-by-item. Good luck! My house just closed last week.
  14. Maybe send BGM hard copy of an annual school photo, or pic with Santa, or whatever took over Sears photos. She gets one or two photos she can put on the fridge and look at. She could take a photo of the photo to send to A’s mom but it’s an extra step that she might not follow through with.
  15. Didn’t see your other question: I have had a mix of homeschoolers and privates/public schools students for my entire duration. I found that once I had students in one group or community, word of mouth would grant me new clients. The bulk of my students currently are from private or public school.
  16. I would also recommend making sure your prices aren’t too low. For some reason people respect your value more if you charge what you’re actually worth I would also say you should charge upfront because you will have people that either forget or intentionally stiff you.
  17. When I started doing group lessons, $20 per kid. Now, $25. I live around the Seattle area so higher COL. I usually didn’t have more than 3 kids at a time. When I started I had lower rates and did sibling discounts as well as discounts for multiple lessons. That was until I had a strong base. I don’t do any discounts any more and don’t need to as I have a waitlist. It has helped to become known around certain communities as well as had some recommendations from neuropsychs or things like International Dyslexia Association.
  18. I have tutored as my sole income for over a decade. My first few years I tutored all week because I was single and had gaps ( I did some homeschooled kids and public/private schooled kids. I have done individual and group tutoring. One thing I have done was since I do a slightly reduced rate for group tutoring, I had the group pay upfront and monthly installments and did not do refunds for missed group lessons. Because one person or the other might always miss a lesson or two, and then that would reduce my overall take home pay. once I had kids, I tightened my schedule. I work from 3 to 8 on four weekdays, and I choose to work on one weekend all day.
  19. I worked with Learning Rx. The owner of mine was passionate about it although they are not running the business anymore. Mine used the Woodcock- Johnson for before and after tests. If I remember correctly there needed to be a standard deviation of increase in a couple areas or there would be some return of investment ( not positive on this though). My boss employed a lot of teachers, who were the trainers, but I don’t think that is necessarily what everyone does. The training itself isn’t super complex, and the trainers aren’t paid huge amount of money. My students did often increase processing speed and memory. I don’t know if the results held 6 months , a year or longer after the program. we did learn a cool way to memorize the presidents, but I don’t remember all of it now 😊
  20. Oh Yael, so sorry for your loss. Hugs.
  21. Warm thoughts and a virtual hug. Your mom sounds like an amazing woman.
  22. Hugs to you and your daughter.
