I was up in the night and up early by huge wind gusts that blew open the gate right by my window- literally 2ft from my window. dh said- "oh you are up early" when he got up...And to avoid ripping his head off, I am downstairs drinking my coffee. How he can sleep through 50 mph wind gusts and a banging gate and a wife who gets up and shuts the gate with a dog barking at her heels I do.not. understand. It will be gusty all day- all the leaves will be off the trees- and they barely got a chance to change. I have a late check- this morning because ds3 had a final consolation match this morning against his doubles partner. ds3 won (playing really well) and it is always weird/uncomfortable watching your kid play his friend- especially when one is playing well and the other is struggling. Anyway- ds3 got 5th place overall and best- he won the sportsmanship award for the 16s tournament. That is so important to us as a family- I am really proud of him. So far: picked up bagels, planted a very small tree, and went to see if the kiosk at USPS was open today (it was not) To do: block a small project clean the kitchen/decide on dinner school with ds3 (he is already working) read a little more general cleanup/ garden things when the wind dies down work in sewing room make dinner at dinner time not sure what else Have a great day!

Dh wanted to be the tennis parent- so he left with ds3. He is going to pick up the chair (at a different store) during a break in the action. I am so excited to have a comfortable chair in the basement- to read, do handwork, etc. I am finally sitting down to breakfast and a second cup of coffee. Good morning! dh is camping with the dog- so it is awfully quiet around here. It's amazing how much a little corgi makes a house a home. ds3 hates when she's gone- he is mooning around asking about getting another dog. I was out in the garden this morning- laying down cardboard to make a new bed- moved some flagstones and sprayed some stubborn weeds. Good morning! We are all up early here- ds3 is doing school- finally starting to figure out how to best use his time. It is always amazing to me that around 16-17, boys start to get things together. We couldn't get the cabinet last night- have to wait until Saturday- but that is okay, because dh is going camping with the giant car and we have it until Sunday. Good morning! I am back from visiting dd2. She is doing well (tested negative for all things- covid, strep, and flu last Thursday) and she is really adapting to her hard life. Certainly the best of all the freshman- but I attribute that to her mental toughness over her hip (other girls have started struggling with some injury) and her willingness to learn from her older sister's experience. She had a nightmare trying to get accomodations (including a super rude conversation with a person who was fired the next day- not because dd2 said anything). She finally had to get her coaches involved and now things are better. But they warned her that right now her grades are "too good" and might affect her ability to get her accomodations. We dealt with this in high school- so she (and her advisor) are gearing up for battle. It is the stupidest thing in the world- that attitude toward LDs is practically medieval. It was fun- but definitely a long drive! I stopped at Ikea on the way home- pretty bare shelves- so that was disappointing. Today is a recovery and fix-up day. coffee/paper- still drinking coffee fence guy coming to do gates when it gets warmer- hose off off the deck. Dh got it super muddy when he planted the trees. move some things around in the basement to find a place for baby plants school with ds3. gym, club tennis, private library, pick up silpper at shoe repair read a little, make some lists for the week move some $ into ds1's account for his birthday! not sure what else- maybe bake a little in the new oven! Back from the errands. Texted with dd2- she has a stuffy nose and the trainer has required her to go to urgent care and take a covid, strep and flu test. Seriously? And student health is closed on Thursdays. What? She is exhausted (freshman get sick- I remember a time when it was not a level 3 emergency to have a stuffy nose). We are planning a weekend in the hotel room watching bad TV with me running out to get her good food. LIke a swim meet only with no swimming😂 Repotted 4 houseplants, now need to eat a late lunch.

I went with dd2. She had 3 changes of clothes for outdoor pictures. She took a couple wearing her letter jacket as well. She did some inside ones in her prom dress.and team suit. She also did action shots at the pool. It was a whole package- and the pictures really came out amazing. Instagram can give you some great ideas.

The swim team sent out a link to the inter-squad meet this afternoon. Watched that- no idea how she did and could honestly barely see at all- but I was still so glad for her and all the girls. Morale is very, very low right now on most teams- parents are starting to talk. Hopefully a little competition inspires and energizes them. Cleaned fans during the diving 😂 I can't move the stove myself, so that is for tomorrow. Fed the dog, next up crochet and watch a little TV. Dh and ds3 will be home late.
