  1. I think the only resource I ever used was kellymom. Except for baby #5 I did see an LC. Because even successfully breastfeeding 4 other babies doesn't mean you won't run into brand new bumps and hurdles that you can't figure out on your own. But I think the key there is finding a really awesome LC because not all are created equal. Ask for recommendations if possible. Also, I think for your average woman without any medical issues for mom or baby, a healthy dose of grit and determination is necessary. Because even when it's easy, it's still hard. "Easy" still means sore nipples, leaky boobs, wretched uterine cramps, worry over if you're baby is getting enough and sometimes thrush and mastitis for good measure. Good luck and congratulations!
  2. I will have four teenagers, and for several years. Number 5 will turn 13 just a few months after #1 turns 20 though.
  3. He asked for his PD at this new place and they said they don't do it. (It is listed on his 2 military prescriptions) I guess this practice expects whoever makes the glasses to do it. My boys got rxs there last year but we bought glasses at WM so they measured for it.
  4. Interestingly, on DH's first prescription his PD is 68. His 2nd prescription is 61. His 3rd prescription doesn't list it, so we measured at home in order to buy on Zenni and I measured 62. My measuring might be off, but 68? There's no way that was anywhere near accurate
  5. Something neurological affecting his eyesight? Considering he never even liked the 2nd prescription I don't think it was ever the right prescription. Maybe he isn't speaking up enough. Though he did complain that the 3rd doctor dismissed what he was saying about his eyes getting worse.
  6. Funny, he says he hates this part of the exam because he's never quite sure. I remember feeling that way during my exam and 2nd guessing myself.
  7. I suspect the 2nd prescription is way off. In 2016 I think he went in primarily to get better frames (his military issue didn't fit well) and decided to do a new eye exam at the same time. But that 2nd prescription he never liked at all, hence the reason he went in for another exam this year. Of the 3 prescriptions I think the 1st is still the best.
  8. The new glasses I just ordered, he questioned whether they even had a prescription because he couldn't tell a difference. (if you look at the 3 prescriptions below his latest prescription is zero for one eye, and very minimal for the other) I could tell his glasses made my eyes blurry, but he didn't think they helped. He did say he would wear them for a couple weeks and see. The first 2 doctors were military so I don't know. The 3rd is an Optometrist from a chain that has several locations in our state. (Not nationwide) I ordered 4 pair of glasses (2 were sunglasses) from Zenni and he didn't act like any of them helped. I think the prescription is bad, not the Zenni glasses. I have ordered a lot through them and always been impressed. So here are his 3 prescriptions. I don't know what all of the numbers mean. It's just weird that everything about all of them is different. Even the PD distance is different. His first was 68, then 61 and we measured 62 at home for the glasses I ordered from Zenni. FWIW, it's his right eye that he complains about mostly. 2014 OD - Sphere +1.50, Cyl -0.50, Axis 132 OS - Sphere -0.25, Cyl SPHERE 2016 OD - Sphere +2.50, Cyl -0.50, Axis 178 OS - Sphere +0.25, Cyl -0.50, Axis 2 2017 OD - Sphere +0.75, Cyl -1.50, Axis 120 OS - Sphere 0, Cyl 0, Axis 0
  9. This is just kind of a "thinking out loud" post, but musing why finding the right eye prescription for DH has been so hard. A few years ago he said he felt like he could benefit from glasses, so during a military training he went to one military eye doctor and got a prescription. He was reasonably happy with the results, but it wasn't perfect. Last year he got a new prescription with a different military doctor and it was different from the first prescription but he didn't feel like the glasses helped very much. So I made an appointment for him to go the eye doctor I take our kids to (I personally thought he was really good) and he got a 3rd totally different prescription and he says these new glasses don't do a darn thing for him. (Strangely, for each prescription the dioptre number goes down) I suggested he take his old prescriptions in to his last appointment, but I think he wanted this 3rd doctor to not be biased by the previous prescriptions. Well, that didn't work out because this new one is the worst of them all. Ugh. Finding the time to get in for a doctor's visit is hard enough, but I know he's frustrated that he seems to be even farther from finding glasses that work.
  10. These are the best thing ever! Years ago a friend made me a bunch of these. They lasted forever. I just threw them in the wash with my washcloths and towels. I bought some more on etsy, but they weren't as big as the ones my friend made. I don't have the time or energy to learn to make them, but I should.
  11. We have what I would consider a "traditional marriage" except that we make all major decisions together. That includes major purchases like homes or cars, as well as job and career choices. I would still consider my husband a "head of household" but he leads and guides with love and doesn't boss me or the kids around.
  12. I spent way too much time yesterday reading most of these links. Goodness, they were fascinating and sometimes horrifying.
  13. Every week or two it's one of the kid's jobs to go empty it out amd there's usually a bag of garbage and a basket of odds and ends that need to be broight inside. It doesn't get vacuumed that often though. My kids leave everything in there. Which sometimes means we get to a location and find out someone doesn't have shoes on because they thought they were in the car, but it had been cleaned out. Fun times.
  14. Oh goodness. That sounds awful. My bil once put on a pair of swim trunks with a scorpion inside. I heard that his kids were quite shocked when he ripped them off poolside. 😨😂
  15. Plain celery is mostly just a method of getting peanut butter in your mouth.
  16. Shredded coconut. But I think it's mostly a texture thing for me. The flavor is fine. And certain recipes are fine if I can't feel it in my mouth.
  17. Except that what she did wasn't like pushing him off. She continued to urge him to "jump" but she didn't push. I think the whole thing is just really sad and agree with others that she probably needs more mental health care than she does a prison sentence.
  18. I am feeling so much better, thank you! Now to keep from getting a yeast infection after these antibiotics. 😩
  19. Don't even get me started on our library. Ours has 2 floors and all of the adult non-fiction was upstairs. Years ago they took the kids' non-fiction books from the kids' area and put them upstairs, mixed in with the adult stuff. It made it impossible to browse for kids' non-fiction, and then I always got grumpy stares when I brought my kids upstairs into the quiet zone. I complained about it and was told they needed to make room for the "literacy center" for kids which consisted of a bunch of computers. *eyeroll* They recently put the non-fiction back downstairs, but I haven't seen what they've other rearranging they've done. They are making a teen zone right now which is somehow different from the teen area they already have. I have not been impressed with our library. I usually just request books to be put on hold for me.
  20. But why? Why would the government develop such an elaborate scheme to keep the knowledge of a flat earth hidden from the people? To keep us all from running (swimming?) to the edge and falling off? I have so many questions.
  21. I once took a round of abx for a uti (this was probably 13 years ago) and I didn't feel like my symptoms (burning during urination) were completely gone when my course was up. I went back to the doctor determined I needed more abx. Long story short, it turned out to be yeast infection, brought on by the antibiotics, but my only symptom was burning. With the wet pads underneath her, that would be an ideal environment for yeast to get a stronghold. So it might be a uti, but it could be yeast, or even both. Also, the d-mannose is slightly sweet, but almost completely tasteless. I would think it could easily be slipped into any fluid that she is willing to drink.
  22. I am such a believer in the d-mannose too. But whatever bacteria I am fighting must not be e. coli. I read online that the macrobid that the original dr prescribed was for e. coli and one other bacteria. I told the doctor I didn't think it was e. coli because the d-mannose wasn't working and because the test showed no nitrites. I probably should have been on a different antibiotic from the start. But I am reading that the cipro that I just started is the one that can cause tendon damage. 😨
  23. Oh Quill, I am so sorry. I went to bed last night with the chills, shaking and bundled up in blankets. I took some ibuprofen but every time I woke up during the night I was completely soaked in sweat. I am feeling a little better this morning. I have taken 2 doses now of this new antibiotic. I never would have thought a uti could get so bad so fast. Ugh.
  24. :hugs: I hope he feels better fast. Waiting at home would be agonizing. We rarely ever go together to the ER. We went together when DD was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. (We knew in the dr's office that would be the diagnosis) Otherwise I usually go. Though last year dh went with ds to get his head stapled (and then unstapled and stitched instead) after he fell back flat on his head and split it open.
  25. Update on me: I took 3 doses of macrobid and today I have been running a fever and I had a wicked awful headache. I laid in bed all day sick as a dog. I called the dr determined I was having a reaction to the macrobid, but he thought the abx weren't working and that my uti symptoms were getting worse. (Sounds plausible too) So he sent over a different prescription and I started that tonight. This has been absolutely awful.
