  1. Thank you all for helping. I don't see it listed. Maybe I am simply losing my mind LOL
  2. Thank you. I am considering Essentials. I used SWR with my dyslexic 1 year old and it didn't work for him, which is why we went with Barton's. I love Barton's, I am just thinking a switch might be nice.
  3. I asked this question a while back and received some answers, but I am curious now that time has past if others have used this program with their dyslexic child? If so, how is it working for you and your child?

  5. We are just about finished level 7 with my 14 year old and I am thinking of getting through level 8 and dropping Barton's. Maybe even for jus a break...I am in level 3 with my 9 year old and have considered switching to LOE. I love Barton's but I am burnt out.
  6. It's an online interactive science curriculum, but not it's PLATO, Supercharged, Aha! or Time4earning. I believe it is for middle school? Sound familiar? I can't remember the name and it's driving me nuts LOL
  7. We are in BP year 2 right now .Could you please explain how you use the companion as an encyclopedia? We will finish this year with BP, so we will be in year 3 next fall.
  8. I am considering using SOTW with my youngest two this coming year, but would then like to also use it with my upcoming 8h grader. He has dyslexia and some memory issues, so adding a lot of other books won't work. I can use audio, but for him, one or two a week in addition to SOTW would be the limit. I could do KF as an older spine, but what else should we do? Outlining won't work either so I am unsure about output. He does OK in oral discussions, but still needs work on writing down his thoughts. I am also looking at History Revealed and Biblioplan, which is what we are using this year. He wants to work independently but there is no way he could read the BP companion himself. When I am reading aloud to him this year he ends up tuning out. I think the companion is just too much info. I also don't see him diving into history Revealed independently, which seems to be the point. He doesn't like history so that makes things even more difficult.
  9. I am looking into this curriculum for next year. I would love to hear those who are using this or who have used it in the past. Could you please share why you either love or hate this program? :D Would this program work for an unmotivated student that still needs a lot of direction and teacher involvement? Thanks!

  11. Saxon Math Science in the Beginning History Revealed WWW LLTL 2 Barton's Reading & Spelling
  12. For literature, my son is doing a lot of immersion reading this year, but I also read a loud to him. We just discuss right now or I have him narrate it back because that is where he is at. I am considering adding Movies as Literature next year:http://www.christianbook.com/movies-as-literature-kathryn-stout/9781891975097/pd/975099
  13. we have been loving Kindle Books with whisper sync! A lot of the books we buy are free or under $1 and then the Whisper Sync book is only a few dollars. My son's comprehension has really improved with immersion reading.
  14. Ds 17 and 15: Beowulf Ds 14: reading ( and listening) to Journey to the Centre of the Earth Ds 14, 10 and 9: The Wizard of Oz and Robin Hood.
  15. I am in the same boat as you, except my son is 14 and we are in level 7 of Barton's. He can read, but he isn't fluent at grade level. He tends to skip or guess at the longer words, even though he knows how to sound them out...but anyways, this year we are using Gen Sci with the audio MP3. It's working ok if review with him. I would love to stick to Apologia but I am thinking a digital, interactive textbook might be a better fit for him. BJU has ebooks available now, but all the associated materials really adds up $$$. Abeka is coming out with them soon too and I am curious as to their pricing. If we do stick with Apologia, I plan to do the MP3 again with the DIVE DVDs. He has online courses too:http://www.diveintomath.com/elearning-course-for-dive-biology/ There are aps and programs that will read the online text for him. One thing I plan to add next year is a hand held pen scanner to copy text for notes. It sends the copied text to the computer, which can read it for him so he can study. Now if I could just find something similar for history. :-D
  16. I bought one of these for my ADHD 9 year old and he loves it. He actually likes the feel of the bumps LOL. I got it of amazon for @ $20.
  17. Thank you. It appears Pearson interactive is only available for schools at this time. Homeschool is textbook only. Hopefully they will have digital available soon though.
  18. I need to buy him either an ipad or a new LT so I am not picky on what device the material is available on at this point. I will buy whatever has the most options available. Right now I am leaning towards an ipad for this reason. I am specifically looking for history and science in digital format. Interactive similar to VP SP courses would be ideal. From the looks of it, the Abeka digital books will be interactive. If they are, that will probably be the route we go. He uses TT for math and is doing well at this point. I will check out iTunes.
