You are doing a good job with him. He is so young and already realizes that. I am old and am still a procrastinator.

  4. One of my son's mentors is obnoxiously attractive. I feel ridiculous, but it is very hard to focus during our meetings sometimes.

Our pediatric dentist. Very attractive, great teeth, in the reserves or gaurd or something like that. Seriously, a lab coat AND military uniform?! Uggh. Thank goodness I only have to see him every 6 months.

It should be a chapter in that all inclusive homeschooling book that one if us writes someday!

  5. "We should read some more Rudyard Kipling, Mom." I think this Classical education thing might be working

Kim was our favorite around here.

  6. Dh and Ds are being sweet and have decided to make me tea. It is about the cutest thing in the world listening to them try to figure out how to make tea, which flavor, how hot, sugar or not, how much sugar....most complex tea I have ever consumed, but made with lots of love!

  7. A right of passage is occurring in our house tonight. Ds is putting together his first item from IKEA. Checking off that lifeskill!

It is filled with books and the whole family really likes it. Dad had to jump in at one point after allowing a shelf to go in backward. If Dh didn't say something there would have been no going back! All in all, it was a great success and Ds is quite proud of himself.

  8. I got a job! So very exciting. 24 hours a week at a local coffee shop. Even better, Dh agreed to allow outside classes for Ds. Piano, Omnibus, and Lukeion will start in a year. There are no words for how thankful I am.

I cannot believe how excited I am to have an adult world all to myself - even if it is a "job"

  9. Second Interview at the local coffee shop this week! I'm so excited. $$$ for outsourcing advanced classes would be so ideal.

  10. My mother just called to say that she wants to take Ds to DisneyLand over spring break! He is going ton beSO excited, but I can't tell him. It is supposed to be a surprise. Ugh! We never do secrets cause I am terrible at them. I have tree weeks of 24/7 with this kid and I cannot say a thing!

this guy takes research to a whole new level! It would be fun to do for some favorite shows, though.

  15. I conspire with my son so that he can stay up obnoxiously late and read books.

  16. After a long week I'm finally freshly showered, in my jammies, and watching drivel on Netflix...total bliss!

Feels so good to vege out after a hard few days. Have a good rest!

  17. Our new version of Word allows me to type in fractions and other complex equations! I figured someone here would recognise the awesomeness of this.

  18. I am so frustrated with being "socially acceptable." Socially acceptable when we are out and about, socially acceptable with the neighbors, socially acceptable with my husband, socially acceptable in homeschool, teach Ds to be socially acceptable. Good gracious is there anywhere that Ds and I can just be quirky weird people that have fun!?

I'm with Kiana. We are weird and allow that to show, socially acceptable or not. We draw the line at anything gross that might affect someone eating out in public. ;-)

Thanks guys. My husband is a bit more involved with status than DS and I. Sometimes it is good to know that "un-normal" or whatever is still alive and well!

  19. Today the conservative, logger neighbor my 9 year old hangs out with just came down to our house to tell me that two days ago my son flipped him off. Well, that's fun...

I can relate. My kiddo has flipped off a couple of our neighbors in the past.

  20. I'm having so much fun going back through classic Sesame Street for Spanish lessons for my son. Total flashback to the 80's!
