  1. Hello, I'm looking for a good rock collection that has a good variety of rocks in the three basic categories: Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic. Also, if it included minerals, that would be grand! I don't want to spend more than about $40-$50, but I'd like a good selection and something the kids can actually touch and feel. It would be great if they're not tiny. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  2. I'm thinking that perhaps I should buy it! Maybe I'm just second-guessing myself. How does it help? Do you feel it to be useful?

  4. Two of my kids did. They just slept better that way (so I did too). I never let them tummy sleep at night when they couldn't hold their heads up, but once they had more neck strength, if they were happier on their tummies, that's how they slept.
  5. I've had great success with homeschool classifieds once I got the hang of it. Check Ebay too.
  6. I can see really enjoying the 3 weeks on/ 1 off or 3 months/ 1 off. Does anyone do this? I think I'm a bit scared to "lose the summer" but also can see how it would prevent burnout during the rest of the year as well. I enjoy my summer, but it almost can seem a bit too unstructured at times. I need a balance. If you do it, how does it work? What are some pros/cons?
  7. I don't mind teacher-intensive but think I need a faster pace. Thanks for your replies!
  8. Hi, I'm a newbie with lots of questions. Last year I did Saxon K and moved on to Saxon 1 for my Kindergartener. It seems so slow and repetitive. I'm just not that into it and my son seemed rather bored at times. I'd like more information on Singapore. Do they use manipulatives at all? I am a big advocate of math manipulatives, but I suppose I could incorporate them on my own. I also didn't like all the writing/cutting/prep for teachers. Not that I'm a slacker, but I would like some pre-done cutouts or something. Help a mom out. Thank!
  9. This looks so neat!! I think I'm going to incorporate this into our days. Thanks!
  10. I'm new to this board, so hello! Has anyone tried Math U See? I am thinking about it as I"m not thrilled with Saxon Math, but not sure about making the switch. Help! Good or bad reviews welcomed. I have a Kindergarten child and one in Preschool. :) Janine
