  1. INFP- I had to look up the LOTR and Star Wars charts after reading this thread. Apparently I am Frodo and Luke Skywalker. I feel like I should be going on a quest or something...
  2. We have used Ambleside and added in a chapter from a Seton workbook for a time. I used the notes from Mater Amabilis with the AO books, but I think I remember the notes for OIS,at least, not going through enough of the book. We also used SOTW with some Catholic notes that a believe I got off of someone on this forum a few years ago. We tried RCHistory twice and didn't stick with it... I think Sonlight looks really nice, but I've never used it. Right now we are doing unit studies and a timeline and then I have more orderly history that I'm using for high school (History of the Ancient World, Light to the Nation's I and II, and Land of Hope and Promise), so hopefully it will all work out in the end :) I did hear Professor Phillip Campbell from Homeschool Connections is coming out with a sort of Catholic SOTW ( I'm sure that's not what he would call it), but there's only one so far and I think it's middle school...
  3. I would suggest that you divide the subjects into two groups: the ones you have a passion for teaching and the ones that give you a feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach when you think of teaching them every day for years. The ones you don't like teaching, you should find the best way to make those take the least amount of time for you as possible. The ones you like to teach, let yourself feel free to really enjoy them with your kids! We have started doing unit studies lately and I love it! I hope you find something that works for you. We are loving Konos (without lesson plans) and Guesthollow right now; you might want to look at those. Also we do lessons only 3 days a week all year long. The days that we do lessons we don't do other classes, so we can be relaxed and not feel like we have to be rushed. Good luck :)
  4. Hello! I hope you feel welcome here. I have bad nerves myself and an aunt who is agoraphobic. Although she is much better than when she was younger.
  5. Yes. I love my mother, but she divorced my dad about 7 years ago and spends most of the time putting him down and saying how he ruined her life, on and on and on... If it gets too much and I speak up, then she will start crying and I will get a headache.
  6. I get migraines with auras where the aura is the part I dread the most. I do drive my kids around our town or the next one, but I start feeling nervous beyond that. I've also called my mom upset because I've had more than one aura a day and she just told me, "Sis, you got three kids its a wonder you don't have three everyday!" I don't know if this will be of any help to you, but I noticed deoderants seemed to be a trigger for mine. That's something I would never have thought of. I just use lemon juice instead and it works just as good and less headaches. Yay!
  7. The Velveteen Rabbit Where the Red Fern Grows The Little Match Girl

  10. Well that sucks, but at least if its the last day then you don't have worry about it anymore... until next year ;) And I would not pay for the extra boxes that were ordered.
  11. The ones my kids have gotten excited over are Konos and CAP Writing and Rheteric.
  12. I hated it, too. Luckily my daughter's troop wasn't pushy. You could buy some of the cookies yourself and think of that as your donation?
  13. When I first get up I usually eat a piece or two of dark chocolate that I keep in my nightstand or make some homemade hot chocolate. Then usually wait to actually eat a meal at around 10:30 or 11. I love typical breakfast food, but for dinner :) I can't stomach the sight of all those dirty dishes that early in the morning.
  14. Catholicism for Dummies is a great resource.
  15. I don't mind being breathed on if its through the mouth, but if it comes through the nose it is nasty. I haven't really been able to cook with raw meat since I was pregnant with my 3rd child 10 years ago. I have a thing about loose teeth, too. I've had a lot of nightmares where I'm staring in a mirror and my teeth get loose and start falling out.. My dad can do the alarm clock thing. Even if he has been driving night and day and is only going to sleep for a few hours. I always thought that was impressive. Oh and I don't really like my feet touched either, but once I managed to get the remote control anetana from my son's toy car stuck inside my foot and had to go to the doctor. It was SO hard to hold my foot still while he came at it with a needle to numb it. Not fun!
  16. Shirts with rude sayings on them.
  17. Just tried it: Tardis-blue Rainbow- lots of colors :) Venus- brown(thought would be green)
  18. My dad was on the road one year and had a bolonga sandwich for Thanksgiving. We are going to my in-laws and it will be a tradional dinner.
  19. We do riddles to find candy and a paper with a project ( make gingerbread cookies, drive around and look at Christmas lights, watch The Grinch [old version], etc.) If you wanted to do something with money, we got a bag of real foreign coins from the Little Passports site for around $20, I think.
  20. I ordered a Persona off of Amazon and have used it for 1 month. I did come across an article the other day where they were sued in the UK by women that had become pregnant... Anyways I wish I had bought the Clearblue and used the Marquette Method instead. I may still do that when I have the money. I know they are both made by the same company and are very similar, just marketed for different purposes.
  21. This morning I was reading the scene from Old Yeller to my kids where the mama bear is running towards 5yo Arliss to attack and Travis and his mom are both running to help but there is no way they can get there in time. Suddenly Old Yeller comes out of nowhere and defends them from the bear. No matter how hard the bear hits him he runs back to their defence. It was all I could do to keep from tearing up while I read, thinking of the bravery of this dog. I thought my kids were just as interested as me, but when I finish it all they say is, "Wow, that was really long." -Things like that are so disheartening :(
  22. I don't know how to copy a link with my Kindle, but I read somewhere else this morning that if you are already a member you could gift it to yourself and when your membership runs out you could cash in your gift certificate. I only read that somewhere this morning, so I don't know if it works. We became new members today, so I didn't have to try it.
  23. Good Morning :) Hope you don't mind if I jump in here... Morning Readings Dentist Appointment 1/2 day of lessons that 15yo is going to help with (they get Pizza Hut when I get back from dentist if they have this done without me today) Clean kitchen Hopefully go out to dinner, since today is my anniversary
  24. I loved DT and vowed not to like Matt Smith, but he had me with his first episode :) and especially after the Christmas special with the flying fish! That is one of my top 3 favorite episodes (after Blink and Girl in the Fireplace)
