  1. Can you ship the pack and play by UPS ahead of time? And then ship it back?

Some airports, especially larger ones, have trollies or some sort of transportation to and from parking lots. If you get a nice driver, they might help you load and unload. Do you know anyone that flies out of your home airport that could tell you?

My next idea is to find a good friend that is willing to take you to the airport in the middle of the night and then to pick you up when ever you return. They could drop you off closer to the counters and help you get inside, at least to check in.

  2. We were able to get a form of state insurance (it is under medicaid but not called medicaid) that covered therapies our insurance did not cover. To qualify our son had to have a diagnosis showing disability from someone. For him it was OT showing he was 2 SD below and needing therapy. We pay a small premium each month based on income. They bill our private insurance first, then cover what private insurance doesn't cover.

  3. Ds has been invited to a paintball birthday party tonight for a friend. The family is providing a face mask, a gun, air, and 200 balls. The last message said he might want to bring extra padding if he wants. The temp tonight when they begin is expected to be 95, but with humidity and heat index, I have no doubt it will feel like more.

So, other than the camo I know he will want to wear, what else? Padding? Will he be too hot?

  4. And your doctor never even mentioned this to you?

Never, not once. And when I showed the results to two different doctors after finding the result, they just pushed it aside. One said, "Well, you live in Arkansas and pretty much anyone who lives here has it or has been exposed to it. It is no big deal really." I don't believe that after reading about it, but myhands are more or less tied at this point.

  5. While I was having a CT scan (or an MRI, I can't remember now) for my gall bladder, hystoplasmosis was found in my lungs. I didn't know about it until I requested the report from the radiologist to give to a different doctor for the potential gall bladder problems. Apparently I have significant scarring from that, but they could not determine if it was active or not. It is also thought I contracted it from being in damp places like caves, not from cats. I still can't get any answers beyond that, and I wonder if it is part of the reason why I got such a bad case of bronchitis this fall already.

So, that being said, you may want to spend the money to get copies of all reports for yourself. What has been found, but not shared with you or addressed by any doctors, can be quite eye opening to say the least.

  6. The thing that worries me about a catastrophic plan is not a hospital stay, but prescription coverage.

I no longer have insurance. After my dh's last pay cut we simply couldn't afford it. Interestingly, with the income drop everyone can qualify for government funded insurance - except me.

Not having insurance can be a royal pain. Most doctors in town refused to even consider having me as a patient. While I was on a drug trial study for psoraisis, blood work showed my glucose to be in dangerous levels. After days of calling clinics, only one would see me and that was because I knew someone working there and that could give a personal reference saying that I wasn't a freeloader.

Prescriptions are another issue. I am on 3 prescriptions and decisions are made each month simply based on price. When I had bronchitis, the doctor told me that there were meds that really worked better than what she was prescribing, but without insurance they would cost well over $250 for one round. She prescribed something possibly less effective so that I could afford the prescription. The last time I needed meds for my psoraisis, 3 prescriptions were giong to cost me $900.

So, if you actually have money to set aside to pay for whatever comes up, then I *might * go insurance free. First I would check with my current providers and ask if they would still allow me to visit them. I am not so concerned about hospital stays and all that as I am caring for the day to day.

  7. If you feel like you are doing a disservice, sometimes it is best to listen to your inner voice. Things are really tough right now, school for a year or two is not a bad choice, especially if it would help take some stress off of you while you work. If your living situation seems to be long term, you may want to consider school, or finding someone else to help school the kids. We did more than one year of bare bones schooling and it has come back to haunt me in a bad way. I really should have asked for more help or just sucked it up and put my son in school. Stopping homeschooling is not failure. Sometimes it may be the best thing.

  8. We have 3 Krogers in our town and each one carries different items for different target groups. If the one nearest to me doesn't have what I want, but the one across town does, my manager will order the item just for me. I have not had to buy a full case unless I wanted to. They also have a specialty order program online where I can order items that don't need refrigeration and have them delivered to my door.

If you know other people interested in the same items, have them start requesting as well. The more people want it, the more likely they will order it.

I have also found that the locally owned health food store is willing to order for me anything I want. It may cost a bit more, but they are willing to put what I don't want on the shelves. If it is popular enough they will carry it regularly.

  9. That is why dh wants to sell after 2 or so years. We would have to pay the tax if it was rented for 3 years. That is his understanding. Is it right? :001_huh:

Call an accountant and ask. My dad always wants to sell before the 2 years is upm if he is going to sell, because the 2 year mark is when the capital gains increases dramatically. You also need to talk to an accountant about how this will effect your taxes, how you will ned to file, what kind of records you will want to keep...

  10. I buy meats in bulk, make marinades for them, and dump into baggies in meal portions. On the day I want them, I then dump them into the crock pot and let cook all day. I also keep lots of frozen veggies on hand for a quick veggie to go with them. I have found this works better for me than most other freezer methods, although I do like to keep lasagna frozen as well.
