  1. My mom wears a 32 C and it is nearly impossible for her to find bras. Sometimes at high end retail stores, but not very often. And when she does, they cost a fortune. When she finds a brand, she then goes online to look for it and will watch for it to go on sale. But even that is iffy. If the person who works in the department is knowledgeable, say a merchandizing manager, they can sometimes look up bras in their system and find which ones come in those sizes. If they are in a good mood, they might order some for you to try on.
  2. Really, for me the most reasonable place would be the used book sale room. I think I spend more time (and money) there than in any other area, except the children's section. It also has the most beautiful view in the library.
  3. My dh took a massive, unexpected, unannounced pay cut last November, just a year after we bought a new home. When his checks came and were as much as 75% less than before, his boss just kept giving lame excuses until he admitted the pay cut was permanent due to falling business income. I guess at least he still has a job. Since this happened, we have come close to divorcing twice. And I would have never thought that would happen to us. The stress of a sudden pay loss, an inability to meet obligations, a breakdown in communication, and more has shaken us to the core. Our relationship is still struggling. Our relationship with friends, family, and neighbors is just as effected. I am more isolated than ever. Now, nearly a year later, dh still has not found another full time position despite applying constantly. He has found, at the age of 49, 2 minimum wage jobs part time in addition to his original job. Working 80+ hours a week and we still can't make ends meet. His confidence is gone. I have had to get public assistance, borrow from parents, accept money from loving friends, sell important items, and more just to stay afloat. We have a special needs child, another one with learning difficulties, and he is determined I stay at home. I don't know how much longer we can last though.
  4. There are thickeners available thru your doctor. I also had to use them with my daughter. One is called Thick It, but I hated it. THe other was Simply Thick, and was a gel that was added to the formula. Much better. It has been awhile, so I don't remember ingredients and you may want to check those. You can buy it without a prescription, but it is kind of expensive that way. I would also consider asking for a swallow study. While gas from allergies is very possible, you could have some other issues happening. Projectile vomiting, gas, reflux like symptoms can all be linked to swallowing issues as well. My dd was treated for all sorts of things, including reflux, when she was actually suffering from silent aspiration. :grouphug::grouphug:It is so difficult when your baby is struggling :grouphug:
  5. My neighbor actually married in the library. She was the director of the library and met her husband when he visited the library as a book salesman. This was about 20 years ago when the return cards had notches punched out of them. Those parts were her confetti. They stood in front of the main library desk, with the judge behind it.
  6. Good idea. And while it is tough to do, he can work towards his degree while in the military. Once it is finished, he can change career fields.
  7. Mid to lake October, except for years like this one where leaves started dropping in July due to drought.
  8. :iagree:But, you will need to think about what that includes. My grandfather at 80 something never recovered after mild anesthesia given during a colonoscopy. Then, it was determined he had colon cancer and he agreed to some other minor proceedure and ended up in a coma for too many days, because my grandmother wouldn't turn off life support, somehow came out of that, but was never himself again. He only lived a few short months more and died of complications from that proceedure that is only minor for someone younger and in better health. Hopefully the doctor can determine the cause, or what actions to take that are less invasive.
  9. We have friends that live on the lake here. Until they put up a very tall iron fence, with spikes on top, men fishing would come by boat to the edge of their property, take lawn chairs off their deck (at least 75 ft from the water's edge), and proceed to fish. They had to put spikes on the fence after one guy decided to climb it and toss the deck furniture over the fence, so he could sit at water's edge in their shade and fish on the grass instead of his boat. I live in a tourist town. That is one of the milder stories. I don't even want to talk about when someone famous comes to town. Or when there is a bikers rally.
  10. Don't forget the odd backs to gold earrings will definately add to the weight and bring in more. I was surprised at how much they actually weighed. Silver is selling right now as well, but not for nearly as much. Our town also has local buy/sell/trade groups. Ask if anyone is selling eggs. When I have too many from our chickens, I will trade them 1-2 cartons per dozen. Or sell them really cheap. Also, sometimes powdered milk is cheaper by the ounce. I would compare prices and see which is best for you.
  11. Job Corp is what you make of it, and how good the instructors are that work there. Our town has one with a fantastic reputation and lots of local support. Some prominnt business owners went thru job corp. Granted, some started as drunks. My nephews went thru one in Oregon (I can't remember which one though), mostly because there was essentially no family support to encourage college or similar for them. One learned a trade and is doing great. Another learned a trade and has since been using it to work/pay his way thru college. The other, well, he was a slacker, went to job corp, didn't do much, and hasn't done much since. The other 2 were never troubled kids but had no skills for employment. Without job corp they wouldn't be the employed adults they are today.
  12. The official diagnosis is bronchitis and laryngitis. Antibiotic, cough expectorant, and inhaler were prescribed. Thanks so much everyone!
  13. No free clinic here. Well, there is but you have to apply to be seen, provide all kinds of proof that you can't pay otherwise, and then it is only open twice a week. There is a waiting list now because they have more in need than they can see. Thanks everyone. My dh told me to call the doctor. We will borrow the money if need be. I already owe the doctor from the last visit but I think she will keep working with me. My main concern is actually the price of the meds if she doesn't have any samples and the costs of things like x-rays if I have to be sent out for those. I have an appointment for 3:30 today.
  14. My son is an active competitor in another sport. Before his last competition, I told him I was proud of him, that I knew he could do his personal best - if he kept his focus- and to not pay attention to the scores and drama of the other competitors. Sometimes I do remind him of the correct body form that he needs, like over breakfast, but then not again unless he asks. While he is bowling I cheer like crazy, let him know when he makes a mistake that he can overcome it, and keep that crazy mom smile on.
  15. First, I don't have any insurance. I do have a doctor that will see me, but it will start at $100 out of pocket. I don't have that. About 2 weeks ago something like a cold started. By last Sunday, I was not head congested but coughed so much, and so loud, and so often that my back hurt (and it would 'pop'), and my diaphram area was even painful. I even bought Poise Pads because there was no way I could control my bladder when I coughed. I just have felt very, very tired all week, but kept plugging thru. I blamed the fatigue on coughing pretty much every hour all night. I don't know if I ran a temp or not because I have not checked. Maybe 2 times I vomited after coughing because it was so forceful. I was taking mucinex regularly, claritin (like I always do), and sometimes a pseudafed because I was still having some nasal drainage that seemed to excite the cough. Saturday the cough moved. It became deeper sounding but not as often. I also began losing my voice. By Sunday morning I had no voice. Not coughing as frequently, but now the tone has completely changed (sometimes almost a bark) and I am coughing up dark phlemy stuff. Almost everytime, I am light headed after I cough. The pain has moved to my chest area and I am not having the incontinence issues as I don't seem to be coughing as hard in the same way. My coughing is not so frequent. I can even go a couple of hours without coughing. I have thrown up once while coughing in the last 24 hours. I think I was running fever yesterday because after I took tylenol I later broke into a drenching sweat like when a fever breaks. I am tired, still can't talk, and my chest hurts mildly, and briefly, after coughing. Last night I slept nearly all night without coughing, but I am still tired this morning. I have had almost no appetite for the last week, but have been eating lightly and drinking lots. Can you get me thru this without going to the doctor?
  16. Our church has sometimes offered it on Sunday nights. Other years it has offered it at different times, in different amounts of regularity (every week, once a month, etc) for various age groups. It doesn't offer it now. Even if it did, I wouldn't send my kids to it. I want them in the main auditorium with me. In fact, the last time it was offered my dd was too young and my son was too old. I prefer them in the main worship though. So much they can learn there.
  17. I have been in a similar situation with a local friend - although her issue is a pack of kids that are poorly behaved, poor hygiene, a lack of respect for others (constantly late, unprepared, etc, etc), and an air of arrogance that still amazes me. Other homeschoolers just dread her and her family. THis is her 3rd state to homeschool in and she has tales from each one about how groups seem to dissipate after she joins. When approached about her behavior or her kids, she doesn't seem to believe it is her problem, but rather the problem of those she is with (you have heard about tolerance, right??). So, you can approach her if you want, but don't count on it making any difference. Well, other than her getting mad at you next.
  18. We were moving into our house when the meat guys showed up. My parents were here and my dad, a salesman, very patiently listened to their spiel. He never intended to buy but knows how it feels when no one wants to listen to you as a salesman. I guess it is his way of being polite LOL. Before it was over 2 of our new neighbors were buying meat from the truck, one couple buying it for their kids who were coming to visit because they claimed their kids always buy meat from the trucks and believe it to be the best meat available. We didn't buy. Later the neighbors seemed surprised that the meat truck never returned as they wanted to be repeat customers.
  19. Add water to the pan and then reheat it on the stove, or pour boiling water into the pan and let it sit. Use salt and baking soda as the abrasives. I have not tried it, but a friend swears by using oven cleaner for anything like this. She said it removed everything, and then with a good heavy, soapy cleaner she can wash off the oven cleaner so the pan is safe to cook in again.
  20. 20ish years ago a family would pay me $25 a night to do this for 1 child. This is when minimum wage was about $3.65 an hour. I was not paid for the hours she was in school. Food and gas for my car were considered to be part of the pay. I was welcome to any food/drink/etc in the house. I was also responsible for their cats. If the price seems high, ask around. Someone may be willing to do it for less. Your kids are older, if I remember right, and that may mean she doesn't have to do as much for them (like baths) that she would have to do for a younger child.
  21. Here a friend pays $10 an hour for every hour the kids are awake. She pays half that during sleeping hours because she allows the sitter to sleep as well. She leaves additional money for gas expenses, essentially one tank of gas or 2 tanks depending on time away, and if the sitter is using the family car or her own. She also has the house full of easy to prepare meals, like frozen lasagna, bagged salads, instant oatmeal, etc. Sometimes she will leave money to pay for the pizza buffet one night. During that time, the school and/or neighbors are notified in case of problems.
  22. Endure means that we keep doing it, even if today is difficult, because we believe in and want the end results. Homeschooling my children requires my endurance, for example, because some days are not easy at all. But I believe that if I continue, this is the best decision for my kids and the end results, whatever those may be, are going to be worth it. Sure, some days I want to quit, have doubts about my ability, have doubts about many things, tire of hearing all the negatives about homeschooling, tire of explaining why it is a good thing for us, but I keep going. I had dreams of happy children, doing fabulous activities daily, and some kind of heaven on earth. What happened is that they don't want to learn, they don't appreciate what I do, it isn't all fun, they have learning disabilities.... Christian faith is a lot like that. Some days we are tired of the struggle. Some days we doubt our talents/skills/faith/whatever. We lose sight of the big picture, we forget that there are rewards in the end that we want. Enduring means that even though it is tough right now, I keep moving forward.
  23. :iagree: And it would have to be a genuine turning away from God, rejecting him. God is going to reject those who reject him. I think we all have doubts. The apostle Thomas had doubts, but it doesn't say he lost salvation. Instead, working thru those doubts he became stronger.
  24. :iagree: A lot of scrubs have microban and such in them. Or at least they did when I was wearing them daily.
