  1. I split it over two years, for 6th and 7th. 40 minutes 2 times a week.
  2. My ds really likes Scripture Sleuth.
  3. CD Pre-Alg moves quite fast. My dd used Singapore to 6B and then went into CD pre-algebra, it was a tough course. She is now 11-7th grade in CD Algebra and we will most likely take more than a year to get through it, but I'm okay with that. My ds used MUS and I would not even attempt going into a the CD Pre-Algebra text, he placed into the CD 6th, so I decided to use BJU 7th because it really has everthing he'll need to solidify those important concepts, and we will take our time, he's only 10.5 gojng into 5th. I don't think MUS is behind, but the depth of the problems would not prepare him for a text like CD Pre-Algebra, I think if I were to stay with MUS Prealg- thin I think to follow up with Pre-alg CD moving through it and testing out of chapters would have been my choice. Have you tried testing her into a few different math texts, it will help you to gage wether or not she is REALLY ready. I tend to do the Saxon and Singapore one. My dd coming out of 6B tested into Algebra for Saxon and NEM1 for Singapore. My ds using MUS through Zeta came out placing in Singapore 6A and Saxon 5/4. That's how we decided he really wasn't ready for CD pre-alg. I don't know anything much about Lials, other than its a remideial college text.
  4. Ohhhh, sorry bout that. I am using Virtual Field trips with the One Small Square readers for my 3rd grader this coming year. They are AWESOME!
  5. My mom would come in a minute, if it was myself or my husband, or even any of my children having surgery. My dh's mother would offer but I would decline (relationship reasons). Now my mother would only go to my sisters if it was her, not anyone else in the family as well to my two brothers. I think it is based more on the closeness of the relationship.
  6. I've never seen the old so I can't help. I think that question is answered in the FAQ questions on their site. It would have been nice to keep the KF but, I am assuming with all the revisions they kept doing for the KF, it was a pain to keep changing it. Which is why SWB changed from using that also.
  7. I assigned Story of the USA to my older two , and I bought 3 and 4 to assign with year four( I need to pencil them in) lol......I like them also.
  8. I think my dd is a pretty strong student, she's 11 in 7th. 7th Grade Math: Patty Paper Geometry/ Chalkdust Algebra I (Term 1&2) English: Shurley English 6 (Term 1&2) Writing: Writing Foundations/ The Basic Essay (Online IEW- 1st Term & ½ of 2nd Term) History/Geography: Biblioplan 4 (Term 1) Science: Apologia General Science/ Red Wagon Tutorials (Term 2) Foreign Language: Education Espanol (United Streaming) (Term 1) Poetry: Poetry and Humanity (2nd term) Bible: Walking in Faith (Term 1&2) Vocabulary: Word Within The Word- Volume I (Term 1&2) Literature: Lightening Literature (Online G3 Class) (1st term) Art: Picturing America (Term 1) Music Instruction: Piano for Life DVD ( Term 1 & 2) Music Masters w/ BP (Term 2)
  9. I think the SOTW does a fine job to aid in narration but, my dd really needed the transition to outlining and the KF was easy to look in the TOC and since it's usually only a page to outline, it had a bit more depth to it than the STOW. I just penciled in the correct KF page to outline on my dd's assignment sheet. They should have left the KF scheduled in it, they seem to be going with MOH instead but, that's not a good outlining resource! She ended up with a pretty cool portfolio. Hey, your helping me think out loud too!
  10. I agree, I did the SOTW for narrations and I used a corresponding page (from the same history topic) from the Kingfisher(white). The Hakim books are too hard to outline but the KF was a perfect fit.
  11. I used many of the SL 3 & 4 books. The nice thing about BP is it's really kind of the spine to History and I can add and still not feel overwhelmed. The STOW aloud with some of the SOTW activity pages, was PLENTY for my 7 year old, including with the readers suggested for her in BP. I added the SL regular readers with just the guide. I made that her comprehension course because, it had all the discussion questions. She will be using the SL intermediate guide and books alongside BP 4.
  12. I had a similar situation, with my ds. He just needed more time, now he does so well in math. There is no need to hurry, the most important part of math is the basics, she'll need that to carry her. I really loved and still use parts of Mastering Mathematics. It's not a grade leveled program but a program that moved them through the basics for mastery and retention. Try to stop looking at grade levels and look at competency I wouldn't bother with the CAT again, it's awfully soon to see any huge results. JMHO...good luck!
  13. We finished year 3 this year. The maps were perfect fo my 11 yod and 10 yod. They were over the head of my 7 yod and we opted to do the SOTW ones for her. The maps were more detailed and they needed an Atlas to figure them out. The Cool History pages were great and we really enjoyed them. My older two read History of the US on their own, and the recommended readers were spot on and even my ds loved the selections. I even found myself getting the Composer study done, I bought a Music Master CD for the Composers they had listed and we listened to them in the car, those were a favorite. We had used TOG for a few years, MFW Adventures and SL. I have liked BP the most so far. I just got my Year 4 stuff in, looking forward to perusing through it.
  14. Cam Janson Billy and Blaze Watch Out For Joel!
  15. Okay, it's done. She is not coming, steaming but, not coming. Thanks for reaffirming what I already felt. Now I can stop stressing and make potato salad. You gals are great! Thanks!!
  16. My husband dropped off a CDC booklet on MRSA..her response, " That doesn't apply to me, my case is mild".:001_huh:
  17. I would be sooooo MAD. Okay that's it. I'm making the call.......I'll be back.
  18. My own dd takes Asthma meds, my mom is on allergy and arthritic meds. She seems to think we are acting crazy, and told my husband that her health care provider said, it was not a big deal. Although after saying that, made an appointment for her to go see an Infectious Disease Dr. The other option is to say nothing, and deal with the aftermath.......bahwaahhh(insert evil laugh here) ...just kidding.
  19. I think this might be the best way to do it. I know she will still be angry she couldn't come when everyone else is here, but this will have to do. She is the first to come and the last to leave type.
  20. Normally I would agree. It will be 90º here tomorrow. We have an in-ground pool, so it's a pool party/BBQ. They would be boiling, plus do I owe it to the other people coming, babies included to tell her not to come?
  21. Crazy, I know. We don't have a great relationship, she'll just dislike me more.:001_huh: It's supposed to be 90º tomorrow, she would just love me to tell her to wear a long sleeved shirt to a cookout....lol
  22. Daisy, that's what I think. But if we ask her to, she will be mad as a hornet and have a HORRIBLE attitude at the party. It's like dealing with an unreasonable toddler. I feel so bad for my dh:glare:
