I just could NOT get these ideas to work with my young son. At the time, I didn't know that my son had Asperger syndrome. This book and many other parenting books really made me feel like a failure as a parent, when in reality my son was just "different" and "normal" methods of training a child just didn't work with him. I hate that books like this one and other parenting books don't make a disclaimer reminding YOUNG, NEW parents that there is NO "one size fit all" way of training a child. I would never recommend that book because of my negative experience.

Our local Curves kept *odd* hours that just didn't work for me. Call and check the hours.

My dh is a work horse who reaches one goal only to have the next goal defined and a plan of attack to reach it before he even achives the first goal. He's gotten better over the years about not leaving his family in the dust while trying to reach goals with his career, but the pain is still there from years past.

Especially since I can barely figure out what to do with my young teen and tween boys! I just had to comment that all this info about this Christian school is VERY eye opening to me! One of my boys wants to go UU and the other, just to spite older brother, has mentioned going to LU. I've always thought it would be WONDERFUL to have them both go to school locally *and* to Christian schools. I wonder if UU has all these lax "rules". There's just no safe place for our kids (young adults), is there? By the way, I had SUCH an enjoyable time chatting last Friday! *I* love 4-H for ME:)!

My son will be 14yo in a few weeks. We've never used a Logic or Thinking Skills program, but I want to next year. I would like some suggestions. Also, it might be helpful to know that he has Asperger syndrome and a math LD. Ideas? Thanks! Greta:)

I am SO thankful Bekah is OK! I shudder to think also about that storm coming in the front of that building! I'm trying to get through to my church, but it says, "all circuits busy". I did talk to my deacon and he said that we are organizing some "stuff" at the church. If I could just provide some jugs of water or something, I think I'd feel better, like I've done something to help. I'm gonna see if I need to drive any students anywhere to meet up with family or friends.

I just cannot imagine the horrors of seeing your house flattened and living through such horror. I said a prayer for them. We had major damage in my town, but thankfully we barely had rain or winds at my house just minutes down the road from the horrible damage at the University.

I was up til after midnight just waiting for another to hit. The last 2 have practically came right up my street (although we've never personally had serious damage, just roof damage in the past), so I just knew it would this time. Thankfully, the scariest thing we saw or heard were the sirens. Are all the UU students that go to your church OK? I'm going to make some calls in just a minute to find out if any of our church's students were any that were hurt more seriously and/or the ones who were trapped. I wish there was something I could do. I'm so thankful all no students died. It's just amazing, isn't? Greta

I'm gonna start my younger son next year when he's entering 5th grade. My son complained a lot at first when he couldn't play the games, but *I* like that about Sponge Bob typing. Being able to play the games was a goal to work towards.

My almost 14yo son seems to have one hormonal surge each month that is VERY compariable to a woman's once a month hormonal surge. He gets VERY moody, emotional and irrational. He also has a bad acne break-out during that one week. I really thought I'd miss out on this, since I don't have girls!LOL Nope, not gonna happen. All teens have hormonal surges. Greta Lea
