  1. We haven't done LFC, but we used MP Latina Christiana for awhile. We switched to Visual Latin this year and my kids have loved it!!! It was mostly for the benefit of my 6th and 3rd grader but by kindergartner had a blast watching it too and starting picking up a lot. Though my third gender is technically too young to be doing VL (says the VL people), she really did ok. But we have only done 11 weeks/lessons. It was perfect for my 6th grader. It really turned Latin from drudgery to fun and exciting!!!! I highly recommend it!
  2. Strawberry breakfast bread (made it today after picking the berries) Strawberry and blackberry cobbler Strawberry ice cream Jam Chocolate covered strawberries Can you tell we've been figuring this out all day??? 😊 Nothing beats freshly picked strawberries, except perhaps freshly picked peaches ðŸ‘
  3. I'm going to throw out a few pastors based on who you mentioned. Not sure if they have cd's still but worth a shot. -randy pope (perimeter church Atlanta) - rankin wilbourne (pacific crossroads, CA) - Steve brown (key life) - George grant (parish pres, franklin tn) -scotty smith (Christ community church franklin tn - he retired but they may still have his sermons)
  4. My husband just mentioned that he heard that a lot of the cruise ships show up in Bar Harbor in the summer and tons of people crowd in the area. Has this been your experience? If so, are there certain times to avoid? We definitely don't want to be in the middle of all of that.
  5. Thanks! I'll see if that opens things up a bit more. However, I may have just found a place in both Maine and Charlottetown. End of July through early August. Is it just as fun then?
  6. What would be your suggestion for best time to visit?
  7. Thanks. That was a location I had looked at briefly. Good to know more about it. It's so hard to find a house and know it's in the right spot. Hopefully we can book soon before they are all taken 😊
  8. Hi ladies I started a thread a few months ago about traveling to Prince Edward Island but the time of year we are going has changed and we are also adding more time in Maine, so I thought I'd ask again. Our tentative plan is to fly to Maine mid to end of July. We'd have about 5 days there and then plan to go to PEI after that for about 3-4 days. Here's what we would like: - spend a day or two in Acadia - good restaurants (plenty of them) - maybe rafting or kayaking - little town to walk around in - near a beach - cabin or house, not hotel or B&B In PEI - would love the same things, adding in the Anne of Green Gables stuff 😊 Anyone want to help me plan? I've almost ditched the idea because I don't know where to start, but I'm giving the planning a go one more time!! Thanks!!
  9. I've purchased the language arts for levels 7, 4, and 2 and they look fantastic. I'm still a bit concerned about it being too preachy or LDS teaching seeping through, but it certainly looks like a great change from what we've been doing. We'll see if we start it come August! ðŸ˜
  10. We have taken classes with her locally for years and agree that they are excellent! She's such a great author and teacher and has inspired my daughter to love writing! We will be taking her classes again next year!
  11. We switched from Horizons to CLE and have been very happy.
  12. That's a bummer. I'd be getting new ones. Hopefully that has changed.
  13. Do the different levels match up well? Meaning - if I am doing early modern for all kids and one child lines up with level 2 and the other kids need level 1, will we be able to do this together smoothly aside from assignments and such? Thanks!
  14. Hi everyone! I am trying to find an online supplement for SOCIAL STUDIES for my 9 year old daughter. I love Brainpop, but it's quite expensive. Any other suggestions? I looked at Time4Learning, but it looked super boring. (at least for Social Studies/History) Thanks!!
  15. Hi ladies, I hope it's ok to do this on this forum...... I can't ever seem to figure out the classifieds...... we have been using the memoria press first grade curriculum this year with our daughter and have been loving it, though we actually didn't use some of the workbooks. I would like to give what we have away if anyone needs these items and it would be helpful. I would just ask that you pay shipping. Here is what I have. - first grade core curriculum manual (it definitely had a lot of use so isn't in perfect condition but certainly usable) - new American cursive penmanship workbook 1 - composition and sketchbook book two - more story time treasures student study guide - core skills phonics grade 2 (she did 4 pages but in pencil so could be erased) - first grade enrichment manual - Classical phonics - story time and more story time treasures answer key - phonics guide for reading and spelling for first grade That's all! Let me know if anyone needs these. :)
  16. Here's what I'm thinking so far: Math - CLE Language arts - The Good and the Beautiful History - US history with her older sisters using America's Story and many living books Science - I selected lots of books from the Memoria Press 2nd grade read aloud set. Many are science related. I also am using some of the early Heart of Dakota science books. She may do some CLE light units simply because she likes them. Bible - CLE and the gospels in morning time with everyone. Lots of books Mindbenders
  17. Perhaps listen to some of these podcasts and learn from their example. https://www.circeinstitute.org/podcasts/close-reads Also - center for lit has some great resources. http://www.centerforlit.com This is assuming I am understanding what you are talking about :)
  18. Hi everyone! I am leaving tomorrow for the Great Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati. For those who went to the one in Texas or SC, what speakers/sessions did you enjoy the most? (I know some are different but many the same) Or for those going this weekend, what do you have lined up? Also - I have most of what I need academically worked out, though there are always surprise buys 😳 But I am hoping to just find something fun, different, inspiring or lovely to add to our agenda next year. No idea what. Anything new and fun you saw that I should look at? Last year, I found Raddish Crate and we've loved it. And I had never heard of it. Any suggestions?
  19. I just returned an entire Ruby set to RR, so maybe they'll have it for sale soon.....though it was just one.
  20. I think the Classical Historian uses games to teach history.
  21. Hi ladies Any suggestion on books on Queen Elizabeth I and Mary Tudor? Anything for ages 8-14. Thanks!
  22. I finally got in. Lots of activity on there. It's much like the HOD board where it is all 100% positive, so it's hard to see other sides of it, but I suppose that's why the people are on there.....because they love it.
