  1. I have put my orders in and they are arriving. This year I have decided to throw a little Beast Academy at my 3rd grader this year (on top of MM3). She saw the cute, colorful comics and has now read through the 3A manual twice now! HAHA! In fact, my rising 1st grader (who will start with MM2) has also read thru the BA book too. Whoever thought that math books could be read for fun?! So our 2014-15 school year looks like this.... DD8- Math Mammoth 3, Beast Academy 3, English Lessons thru Literature 3, Elemental Science- Earth Science, Getting Started with Latin, Spelling Workout D, Mind Benders, Story of the World 2, Handwriting Without Tears- cursive, Art in Story DD6- Math Mammoth 2, Beast Academy 3, English Lessons thru Literature 3, Elemental Science- Earth Science, Ordinary Parents Guide, Spelling Workout B, Mind Benders, Story of the World 2, Handwriting Without Tears- print, Art in Story
  2. RN here, so I definitely needed that degree. And yes, I have worked for the last 23 years in the field. It was the only thing I ever wanted to do in life... :)
  3. I like her too! Other authors I liked were LaVyrle Spencer, Jude Devereaux (her earlier stuff), Amanda Quick, Julie Garwood, Debbie Macomber, Stephanie Laurens. Ummm, maybe I should read more classical lit?
  4. Haha! This is the typical look for my Walmart. I hate that place with a passion!!
  5. As far as I can tell, if you get the iPad app it is more customizable. I am better with a printout, I hang it next to the fridge and it keeps nudging me. I tried cleaning apps, but it is just TOO EASY to get sucked down surfing the web and NOT cleaning! Anything that doesn't apply I just draw a line thru at the start of the week.
  6. Another vote for anything Sandra Boynton. "Hippos Go Berserk" was my favorite, I have it memorized! :D
  7. I have the Motivated Moms chore printout and I just follow that. Some days go quicker than others. But that job printout really keeps me on task AND the house is usually drop-in guest ready!
  8. DH and I were both 31 when we got engaged. DH did not ask my dad's permission, we just told them to keep March 29, 2002 free on their social calendar. They were very happy for me! I had been living on my own for several years and was a homeowner, so I figured I am the boss of myself!
  9. I have an Otterbox for my iPhone 5. It is great! I have bounced that phone off the hospital floor at least 2-3 times a month. NO PROBLEMS!!! Great case, and feels substantial in your hand.

Being a nurse was the only thing I ever wanted to do in life. I read all sorts of medical related stuff growing up. When Barney Clark had his heart surgery in SLC, I followed it very closely and read all the articles. I was 12 at the time and living in SLC. I took Physiology in HS as an elective! Now for me, Nursing School was not hard, it was all the other crap they made you take. I had to take Chemistry 4 times and Stats twice. I did all my schooling BEFORE the internet and while working 40hrs/wk as a CNA. That taught me valuable prioritization lessons! I think nursing has gotten more difficult to do on a day to day basis. All charts are electronic now. People seem to be more demanding and wanting things done 5 minutes ago. I have missed out on many family functions due to shift work. I was on night shift for several years. If you think you and your DH can work through this together then go for it and best of luck to you!
  11. Good for your boy! That sounds a lot like my basic training. (US Army 1988-94)
  12. If you plan to stay in an RV resort for $1k/mo you WILL NOT need a generator. Your RV will have a big electrical cord that you plug into the campground hookup, same with water and sewer (for some models). Look into smallish RVs, such as... r-Pods vibes Starcraft You should start by going to RV dealers just to get a feel for what the options are. I also don't think you need to be Arnold Schwarzenegger to set these things up. Our rig is electrical set up, which runs on battery (we rarely camp with hook ups). Once you get a feel for the RV situation and your likes/dislikes many times you can find a nice used unit that is much cheaper. Also, don't forget you will need a place to store your rig when you aren't on the road.
  13. Sounds an awful lot like the diets outlined in the books "Grain Brain" and "Wheat Belly". Both of which I am reading now and hope to convince DH we need to do.
  14. until that dang Rainbow Resources catalog arrived in my mailbox!
  15. Best of luck to you and your surgical team!
  16. Two babies, no morning sickness. Never felt better in fact. If I wasn't so old when I had my babies (36, 38) I probably could have given Mrs Duggar a run for her money!
  17. I live in SLC. If there is anything you need, directions, info, whatever, let me know! I'm also an RN and have worked at University of Utah Hospital for the last 18 yrs. If he is at Intermountain Medical Center, that is just a few minutes down the road from me. I am happy to help. Best of luck figuring out what is going on!
  18. I won $3 for getting a Blue RIbbon too! WOOHOO! Matching sock size? or stripes? As far as stripe patterns, I don't give a rip about them matching up. Now- matching size? Once I figured out how to do them on double point needles and got the techniques down, I got a book by Antje Gillingham and I have made many a pair Two-at-a-Time-on-Two-Circulars. A bit fiddly but they come out identically sized and finished at the same time. Helps you avoid the Single Sock Syndrome... ps- if you are on Ravelry I am LHJ there you can check out what I have done. My Blue Ribbon socks are bright green. I have been on a knitting hiatus for a while as I got heavy into quilting....
  19. This was me when I first started to try and learn knitting. When I crocheted, I held the yarn in my left hand. Years ago the knitting book (pre-internet) wanted my to hold yarn in my right hand. I just could. not. do. it. So in 2008 while watching YouTube I realized that I can hold the yarn in my left like I do with crochet, makes much more sense to me!
  20. I taught myself in the days before internet! (early 90s). I used a book. Funny thing is, my whole growing up years we went to Granny's house every Sunday night to visit. I used to beg her to show me how and she NEVER would. Said that since it was Sunday if I made a mistake I would have to pick it out with my nose. Sigh. I never could get the hang on knitting until about 6 yrs ago. By this time a wonderful thing called The Internet had been invented and I scoured youtube for How to Knit videos. Three years later I entered some socks I knitted in the State Fair and won a Blue Ribbon! I love knitting socks....
  21. Great ideas! I would really like to get more proficient in OneNote!!
  22. Holly- Maybe we should ask for The Well Trained Mind Academy to have a OneNote 101 class for us!
  23. I just got an email for 20% off on my order and I was thinking of adding in some brain games this year anyway. What stuff do you like from TCTCo.? I was planning to do it as a group activity with my two girls, probably every Fri as I use that as a field trip/catch up day so it's scheduled lighter. The younger (while a rising 1st, is working in MM2A) should be able to keep up with her older sis. PS- They have a huge range of products and I am a bit overwhelmed, so I thought I would ask opinions....
  24. Just got the email that the updates for grammar stage Earth Science are ready to go! Will be placing my order soon!
