  1. Agreed - that would be a lot of stops. And as I said, I don't have the information, nor do I have the background with racial issues to make a definitive statement on the subject. :)
  2. Oh, I read this backwards. I thought it was 7xs in 3 weeks. 3 times in 7 weeks isn't really that much. 7xs in 3 weeks...then I'd be really questioning it. However, like someone else stated - there's not enough information. Same car? Same state? Same city? Different city? Too many variables for me to immediately say it was race; but then again, I've also never had to deal with race being a negative issue for me, so I'm not really in the position to make a definitive statement.
  3. Why does he need to be stronger and more daring at 3? Does he refuse to try anything new or is this more of a "he's not as daring as dh and I were as kids" type thing? Some kids are just more cautious, my 3 year old included. We mistake their observational skills for timidity, rather than realizing that just like adults, they sometimes need to assess the situation before they are comfortable. It's not right or wrong. It's just their own unique rhythm. That being said, 3 is not necessarily too young for karate.
  4. My dentist told me I have a really strong tongue. More of a passing comment during a procedure and not a compliment, but still rather odd. I guess it's from all the lectures I have to give my students. :tongue_smilie:
  5. Apparently, my almost 3 year old saw some purple (school color) fire hydrants the other day and she kept talking about "purple fire water". I was so confused! We figured it out only because we happened to drive by another one. She calls them "firey hydrants" now.
  6. Creekland, it helps to break down fat. Often times, it is suggested for those who have had their gallbladder removed.
  7. I always thought it was the handbook for codependency! haha
  8. My school plays this game. Heat is on way past the time it should be on. When you have 25 bodies in a room with no open doors or windows, it doesn't take long to need the heat turned off and the air turned on. *about to break the rules and open the windows anyway
  9. Any update on this? Did you find out what happened to the phantom books?
  10. They're different. I went ahead and told her to check both of those out since I know that they are good curricula normally. Thanks!
  11. My friend is looking for an online curriculum for her kids ages 13, 10, 8, 6. I know that's not a lot of information, but that's about all that I have right now. haha I've heard Memoria Press online is decent. Any other good suggestions?
  12. My new (last year) Mac came with a CD drive. You just pay extra for it.
  13. When we were dating and my husband cooked me a gourmet dinner of Walmart brand chicken nuggets and tater tots, I knew it I would be the only one to cook! He is a great help in all other categories, but I fear my child will starve to death if anything ever happens to me.
  14. I don't mind visiting Branson, but I wouldn't want to live there! Traffic during tourist season is ridiculous.
  15. What kind of job are you looking for? There's probably some great opportunities in Northwest Arkansas (Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, Bentonville, Lowell) with some surrounding towns fitting the population numbers of the ones you listed above. :)
  16. Northwest Arkansas is better. ;) Unless you're looking for the big city. NW Arkansas has the college vibe, the hippie vide, the country club vibe, and everything in between along with excellent city parks, state parks within driving, a great museum, a children's museum opening up, yada yada yada. I grew up in Fayetteville (college town). I wish I could move back. :(
  17. Bloomington, IN Springfield, MO Tulsa, OK Chattanooga, TN Clarksville, TN **One of these is actually my current town. lol
  18. In addition to cooking and laundry, just knowing how to keep a decent house. I can't begin to describe the horrible apartments/houses of the guys I dated! (My husband even ended up hiring me to clean his house before we were married. He just couldn't do it! ) Know how to budget, balance a check book, pay bills
  19. Super excited - next year's principal looked these examples over and loved them. I have the go-ahead to utilize them next year!
  20. In regards to the highlighted (and all the mommy wars about formula/bre*st feeding, vax/antivax, etc), I typically just say "Everyone messes up their kids in some way. You do/did it your way. I'll do it mine." Then, I give my Southern "go to heck" smile and go on my merry way.
  21. Ok, I could be TOTALLY wrong, but I'm reading that pennies made after 1982 only have 2.6% copper. They are now made mostly of zinc. When you heat zinc, it can diffuse with the copper forming brass. (Or so says what I'm reading and trying to understand on my very quick lunch break. I may need to hide my head in shame for being incredibly inaccurate. haha) ETA: Was it supposed to be something like this? http://www.instructables.com/id/Turn-Copper-Pennies-into-Silver-and-Gold-Chemistr/
  22. I have a whole pin board for the Mighty Girl book lists. Here's a list of books with heroines for ages 6-10. (There is a list on my board for ages 11-14 as well.) https://www.pinterest.com/pin/191191946657197987/
