  2. Dorothy Mills? We are using it along with Kingfisher Encyclopedia and literature, working great so far.
  3. Hi! I am new to this as well. My DD is 10 and she has completed MM Prealgebra and did few chapters from Aops pre-A. Now she is enrolled in Jacobs Algebra from Veritas press and is doing so well till now. I plan to start AOPS Algebra on weekends soon just to keep up the challenge. Have you tried Aops yet? My daughter loves it.
  4. Not pre algebra but my DD10 is doing Algebra through Veritas press online. She loves her teacher. Maybe you can try Prealgebra there? My Dd hates no face just voice as well. She says that's wierd.... lol
  5. So is MCT alone good for language arts? Because she doesn't like CE for some reason.
  6. I have cover story, CAP, WWS1 and Killgallon. She chose Cover story and I am throwing in Killgallon. Is that ok?
  7. Hi hive, Here I am going over the stuff again and again for my 5th grader ( atleast on paper). She is very advanced in all areas. My DD wants to do medicine. That might change with age. Let me know how this looks for this year. Math: Jacobs Algebra1 supplemented with Aops, Zacarro word problems Science: Ellen Mchenry chemistry, Itch novel, hunting for elements documentary Quark chronicles, Cells and the brain Language arts: Literature. 6 with Veristas press, MCT town level , Vocabulary from classical roots 6 and A Rod and staff spelling 6 History: book shark 6 Geography: mp geography 1 Language: French Music: piano and voice lesson Competitive figure skater Anything you would change?
  8. I am finding my groove with Ellen now and is more fun. Does Bookshark 6 history cover geography in depth as well? It doesn't seem that way for some reason😳 And how long does history take usually? With Bookshark it seems like a lot, like read aloud and as such. Or is it just me???
  9. My daughter started Hake 6 few days back and she hated it. She didn't like the too much repeatation. Now she is happily settled with MCT town. She loves it. She has a strong Grammar foundation with Mifflin Hartcourt and always worked a grade level ahead.
  10. Thank you so much for your reply! I should not be stuck on doing every single thing every day I guess! Need to loosen up a little bit!
  11. Thank you so much for the reply ladies! If possible I would do science and history every single day but she is a competitive figure skater and she stays in the rink from 1:00-4:30. So I am breaking my head over the schedule!!! Driving me nuts😢
  12. How many times a week do you do history and science? Science we do Ellen Mchenry chemistry with Itch novel and watching Nova hunt for the Elements for the first two months, then we transistion to Quark and RS4K for biology History we do Bookshark 6 and Geography MP geography 1 with DK geography Should we do this 5 days a week or .... I am so confused? Can someone do the scheduling for me😢
  13. Thank you ladies!!! And I should stop reading the board everyday coz my Amazon cart is full again😭 On more serious note, you ladies are wealth of information for newbies like meâ¤ï¸
  14. DD10 loves Percy Jackson series, Harry Potter and anything in that Genre. Right now she is reading "The Classy Crooks Club". She got it this afternoon and almost done with it. She says it is a fun book. And it is different from Sci-fi and Mythology! She is a book monster though! She loves books😊
  15. Summer solutions? From Simple solutions. Heard great things about it.
  16. Thanks ladies! We will stick with Jacobs. But I always have her do timed math for warmup. Hope that helps with her speedy calculations for higher level exams.
  17. DD10 has done logic ever since 5 simply because she loves workbooks and analogies and puzzles. I want to keep it fun and do once a week on Fridays.
  18. I am a Math Major! Teaching Aops is not an issue but I don't want her to lose her confidence eventually with tough problems in Aops! I am going to follow your advice and do Jacobs with Veristas ( they meet oblibe twice) and supplement with Aops if she wants it. Thank you so much for a detailed reply
  19. That sounds like a plan too. She can do it slowly. Do you think if she does Jacobs now ( most likely because I paid for it), does Jacobs Algebra needs supplementation or complete on its own?
  20. Today she flew by and hope she sticks with the pace. I thought Aops Algebra might be too much for her to handle as a stand alone. Didn't think she would love it. :( Thank you so much for the reply
  21. Dear Hive, I am in panic mode. My dd10 was on track till last night to finish MM 7B ( just geometry and statistics prob left). And start Jacobs algebra with Veristas press online ( all paid). Today she declared she cannot take MM anymore and it is so not fun and started working on Aops PreA square roots and almost done with the chapter and she is loving it. Do you think she can finish geometry and statistics/Probability in one month? I would like to review other basic math after finishing it. I am panicking now because MM is easy to schedule but not Aops.😭😭 Help please
  22. Oops and she lives and breathes books. So I don't schedule assigned reading much
