Anyone in Landry Academy: Have your students been told not to email the teachers? My kids are telling me this is a new policy this year, but I can't find it anywhere, and the class recordings aren't available.

Too much Harry Potter? A friend asked ds about his science for next year (chemistry) and he called it Potions!

Can I just say how much I love the boards? You guys can answer a question faster than I could ever research on my own, and I get the benefit of lots of different perspectives to give me things to think about that I would never have come up with on my own. Thanks Board!

My DD is arguing with me that pi is not an unending nonrepeating number. Because, you know, her 6th grade brain and reasoning skills are obviously superior to centuries of mathematical geniuses and thought.

That one stumped her for a bit! But then she came up with the idea that yes, in theory, after you have counted all the possible things in the universe - thoughts, people, items, etc. - you would come to the end of numbers, the biggest number. I asked her what if I have just 1 thought after that, like a "Ha, I just counted all the things" thought. But she said that wouldn't count because you would have theoretically already counted all the possible thoughts.
