  2. That sounds like so much fun. Great for you helpping this to happen and your friends as well. Have fun, Allene
  3. I do activities with my family. We have family movie night 1 time a week. Family game night is before the movie. My daughter and I take horseback riding lessons together. We all do karate and kickboxing together at the dojo and we exercise together at home. I train the dogs and help my daughter work on training the puppy. I go to work on Sat. mornings and sometimes take my daughter with me. Allene
  4. What about some sort of easy to wear bag, ie. backpack, hip pack, spibelt, etc. for hiking or outdoor wear in. I know I never use a purse and wear my spibelt everywhere but sometimes I need something a little bigger and am always trying to find the right size backpack. The funky socks and hat are also a great idea. Binoculars. Compass. Swiss army knife. Those are all things that I had received as a teen. All were very appreciated. Allene
  5. We spent more than I wanted to but total came to $134.00 for 2 children(my own) and $12.00 for my 3 nephews. Allene
  6. My hubbie gets home from work between 4:30am and 5:30am. He goes to bed after checking my daughters blood(she is type 1 diabetic) normally be 6:00am. He gets woken up at 10:00am. He works 1 hour away so he has to leave the house by 2:00pm. It takes him until almost 11;00am for him to be doing things around the house. Then it is almost time for him to make lunch and get ready for work. We(the adults) do not sleep much in my house do to my daughters blood sugar checking and his working the hours he does. We deal with it. it helps that I exercise A LOT. I believe that is the only thing to keep me going and for my hubbie. He claims it is the coffee he drinks.:iagree: Allene
  7. I did as a child. It was a release of feelings and the only way I could get those feelings released. I developed depression around the age of 12 years and the cutting started around 13, lasted until 15 after I spoke with a physiciatrist for a few years who helped me learn to speak about my feelings. At the age of 14 my parents did allow me to start medications and that also helped me. One day I just did not have to cut anymore. Unfortunately i cannot give you any how to help tips, just experience from the act itself. Still to this day I can remember the euphoric feeling of release after cutting. Does she do any activites, sports, work, etc. I started working at a young age and any time that i was at work or sports I would/could not do cutting. Another thing that I "think" would have helped me at the time was martial arts or yoga. I find such release when my family is practicing martial arts now that I believe it would have been very helpful for me at that time. Good luck, Allene
  8. My mother found some at her local thrift store. Perfect shape. 2 suits(different colors), a cordoury jacket(with the elbow patches) 3 shirts. THe only thing missing were shoes but he likes his cowboy boots. Good luck, Allene
  9. We love the 4-H projects. They can be done on your own as well though and it then depends on what you put into it. My daughter does 3 projects a year. We keep trying to cut it down but have not been successful. She is 9 now. Last year she was in 2 different groups and was the secr. for one group and news reporter for the other group. Great oppurtunities can be learned from being in these sort of group settings BUT it really depends. If you do not like the one group try for another, or start your own. Our one group meets year round and it is a mix of homeschoolers and public schoolers. It is a general group so we have kids doing animal, sewing, cooking, photography, etc. Our other group is a dog group where we train and work with our chosen dogs. My 4 year old always accompanies us and "says" he is in 4-H as well but will not be a cloverbud for a bit yet. My daughter has earned3 Grand CHampion ribbons and certificates for her projects last year. She worked very hard for them and they covered quite of bit of her extra schooling as well. Again though, if you do not find a group that you like you can always start one of your own. We are actually dropping Girl Scouts next year(due to their new program choices) and sticking with just 4-H. Our yearly cost for 4-H is $10.00 for registration. Then if we want to do a socal activity like rollerskating with our group, the 4-H group will nomrally pay some and we pay the remaining fee. We did do a bake sale for fundraising for the group that helped but again, then we had supplies from parents for baking but I did not add that up. Good luck, Allene
