  1. Anyone know of an existing correlation chart for History of the World 1 and Story of the World 1? Or maybe I don't need one? This is the first year I will have my 11th grader and my 5th grader together for history and want them to be able to study the same things at their different levels. i looked at Tapestry of Grace, but it just seems like too much. My oldest is very structured and wants a syllabus and tests along with rigorous study. I don't have History of the Ancient World yet. I may need to add a secondary source for him (secular). My youngest is loosy goosy. Story of the World is fine for her. Any recommendations?.

  3. I have a 9 year old just starting out on memorizing. I'm looking for some easy classic poems for her to memorize that emphasis character (patience, persistence, paying attention...). Does anyone have some ideas for me? Thanks.
  4. We have used Singapore 6a and b this year, with my son working on it mostly on his own with occasional help on the last couple lessons in each chapter. We also used several other supplements for a once a week major lesson from me, covering geometry and algebra. My son is very good in math, but doesn't really enjoy it. He gets very easily frustrated if he doesn't "get" something the first time. I think he has just been so used to it all coming easy for him. I would like to ease him into problem solving and understanding that sometimes problems will take him multiple tries, and that is OK. I've been thinking about using Singapore 7 next year for everyday math (mostly on his own) and AoPS Algebra for a once a week thing. Anyone have any insight? Does Singapore have problem solving type questions in the higher levels? If so, would that be enough? Any thoughts on AoPS? I've only seen the online samples of each program.
  5. Have you looked into Hands on Equations? I just started homeschooling my son this year (6th grade). I found he is pretty solid on basic math, but the steps and unknown in algebra type questions shut him down. We went all the way through HOE very quickly, 2 lessons in 30 minutes. I actually heard him say "algebra is fun". Now I think he is ready for an algebra program.
