  1. Have you used it? Does the quality make up for the price? I've been hearing so much about it and I thought it was a unit study. I was just surprised by how many subjects it covers.
  2. I've been checking out ToG, looking through the samples and what not, and I have to ask. It seems really expensive for a program that's only going to be covering history, literature, and writing (I know the website includes other things like government, but I wasn't really planning on doing that with my first grader). Am I missing something here?
  3. Whaaaat?! Seriously? Where I live, the only place you go to in your pajamas is Walmart.
  4. I'm 27 and if "fashionable" means "homeschooling in your pajamas", I'm that too.
  5. Elizabethtown The Truman show A Walk to Remember August Rush (500) Days of Summer Mean Girls
  6. Please disregard all of my comments from last night. I knew I shouldn't have gotten into an internet discussion after being driven to the brink of insanity by my toddler. The truth is, it's a subject that I have to put much more thought and research into. Economically, I will always be for small government, which is why I can never be for government-run healthcare, but I haven't put much thought into the details. Much more for me to learn.
  7. Sure. That's what I meant. It has nothing to do with the fact that it's almost bankrupt and run inefficiently.
  8. You still pay into the health care system with your taxes. I have government health care too. That doesn't make it my ideal system. Far from it.
  9. It's not that simple. We all pay for healthcare now, we just doing it through a middleman. That's never made anything cheaper. And I never said anything about a denial of care. I've seen how the government runs things. When I want the healthcare system to end up like the post office, I'll be all about government-run healthcare.
  10. I used to keep my kids home whenever they were sick, no matter how sick they were. I've really lowered my standards now because we get sick so often, especially in the winter.
  11. We take 2 hours in the morning for reading, writing, and math (although that includes a few small breaks and much stopping to cater to my 2 year-old), a half-hour read aloud time after lunch, and we do Adventures in America in the afternoon and complete any unfinished work from the morning.
  12. Mine spend most of the their time putting dirt, grass, leaves and rocks into a pot and mixing it with a stick, despite the fact that we have balls, jumpropes, sidewalk chalk, etc. to play with.
  13. So if I were to combine BR and WWE in a similar way, would I need to buy the WWE 1 workbook AND The Complete Writer hardcover book?
  14. Great post! I've been trying to comprehend Bravewriter for weeks. My daughter's starting 1st grade work soon and I'm hesitant to buy WWE.
  15. Okay, so they're either bag worms, tent worms, or Fall Webworms. All equally gross.
  16. I googled Bag Worms and that's exactly what the webs look like. Do caterpillars make webs too?
  17. Hah! I know those are caterpillars but there were entire areas covered in webs full of caterpillars and black dots. Call this a stupid question, but I've never seen it before and I haven't taught science past kindergarten level.
  18. Can anyone tell me what this is? It was on the tree outside of our apartment.
  19. I love that book! Another vote for 12 being too young though.
  20. This thread is starting to depress me. My kids both suck on their fingers and I can never get them to stop doing it in public.
  21. Oh, I didn't say that I think she's guilty. I have no opinion on that. The whole trial has been a hot mess. I just don't think the book was the greatest idea. Debt or no debt.
  22. I haven't read her book, but there have been plenty of holes in her story from the beginning. I'm thinking it wasn't the best idea for her to write it all down. But like I said, I haven't read her book. I read an article on it about a month ago.
  23. I heard that the retrial is a result of Amanda's book, Waiting to be Heard. Rumor has it, it doesn't help her case.
