My little guy did this last year. Couldn't blend at all, came back from three week break at Christmas and immediately could read all three letter words I showed him.

My guy does that too. He's at a fun stage now where all the familiar shapes and colours on signs and labels are turning into WORDS for him and they MEAN things!
