  3. controversial, I know ;) but Cathy Duffy's 101 Top Pick for his Calculus program caught my eye. I've got youngins. What do you love/hate about it? Im not a fan of saxon. We already tried it and it was a bust. Im with CLE right now, but looking ahead and may consider a change sooner than later. :)Angela
  4. You can buy the CC cards at Mardel...FWITW
  5. Hi! 3rd grade. Is CLE as thorough as RS for LA? I'm new to homeschooling. I have 6 kids, homeschooling our oldest- 3rd grade, others are in school. (2 kinder, 1 pre-k). I hope to bring them home once I figure this all out. Just a bit overwhelmed with teaching so many subjects to so many littles. I need something tried, true, thorough, and semi-indepent. In which it will allow older kiddos to get started if I need to work with a younger one) I would like to spend more time just reading than anything, but I know we have to work through learning the details of english & writing. Where to start? My dc can read, yet I noticed that she is intimidated by longer words, I picked up AAR and will work through it to fill any gaps. With that said, should I start at 2nd grade or 3rd? I hear that 3rd grade is where kids transition from learning to read, to reading to learn. (for science & history- we'll read books, not looking for a curriculum here. At least for this age) Thank you in advance!
  6. I know BJU has a $99 sale in December. Is that the only time or do they offer it again in the summer? Thanks!
  7. I used the search box and didn't find any results, so Ill post here :) Are there any long term Robinson Curriculum users on here? What advice can you offer for a mom making the transition from PS to home school (8th grade). We are currently enrolled in CC ChB- this is our first year home. I'm looking to add RC to our curriculum next year. Is there anything you would add or take away from RC? I am considering using it with my younger children also. Thanks in Advance!

  11. 2 nd grade... I have read that it is important to complete the extras in the teachers manual. Considering the additional time it takes for the video, are the extras that are described in the TM demonstrated in the video? If not, after watching the videos is it still necessary to complete the extras outlined in the TM?
  12. Newbie here... We have 7 little ones, I'm considering BJU online- for a season... Is it still Teacher Intensive with the online option? Or do the videos demonstrate what is recommended in the TM's? Thanks in advance for your advice!
  13. On page 343 of WTM, 3rd edition. There is a note "7th or 8th grade students just beginning in Rod & Staff should start with the fifth grade book, Progressing with Courage." This is a type-o. Should we start with the 5th grade book, Following the Plan? Or did they intend to write the 6th grade book, Progressing with Courage? Thank you! We are new to hs'ing, adjusting from the transition from public school :)
