  1. I'm simply curious. My dd just turned 3, and forming letters is still mostly out of reach. We do gentle pre-writing activities like tracing, and she knows her letters. I honestly wasn't that worried about it until a friend, whose son is 3 months older than my dd, told me her son is writing his name. Granted, her son has always been a bit ahead of the game. So when did your kid start writing his/her name?

    Art!

Check out Art Lab for Little Kids. The ideas in the book are along those lines, if I'm remembering correctly.
  3. For your very littlest the Little Pim videos would be good. I have 3 videos for my 3 yr old and I like to watch them with her to help with my own vocabulary.
  4. Preschool dd, age 3. Lots of reading aloud, block building, letter tracing, art class at the local art museum, cooking, science projects, zoo season pass. We count everything! I put together a theme for each month, broken into 1-2 week mini subjects. We keep it fun and play centered. I use a variety of early childhood curriculum books and blogs for inspiration. I also plan on using Webbing into Literacy's rhyming activities.
  5. Notimeforflashcards.com - lots of good book lists and craft ideas Activityvillage.co.uk - tons of printables, craft ideas Everythingpreschool.com - themes, lesson plans, coloring pages There's a few to get you started! :-)
  6. Curious George. I can't stand that naughty monkey!! Even as a child I couldn't take him. The situations he gets himself into just make me cringe.
  7. Plus the cold winters keep the really nasty bugs and snakes out. No cockroaches or water moccasins here! (This is a huge plus for me.) :-)
  8. Welcome to ND! I'm certain you will find homeschooling support in Williston. Here in Minot there are many homeschoolers. There are even some programs just for homeschoolers now! Like art class at the art museum. I was shocked!
  9. I have also heard good things about The Case for a Creator. I have a friend who is a biologist who highly recommends it. I haven't read it myself, but if she's recommending it the science must be good!
  10. The Origins of Life-Five Questions Worth Asking http://download.jw.org/files/media_books/d0/lf_E.pdf and Was Life Created? http://download.jw.org/files/media_books/09/lc_E.pdf Those are the links to the PDF files. I recently read them and I thought the science was rock solid. Both are definitely not young earth. They quote alot of scientists who aren't creationists but are frank about the problems with theory of evolution. Hope that helps!
  11. Do you think you could share it in the yahoo group? In the file section? There are several ' plans' in that section. If Dr. Nebel allows it I would love to see it too!
  12. Mathematical Reasoning Beginning might be fun for her! It has good reviews on Amazon and will be buying it soon for my own dd. It's specifically for 3-4 yr olds. I would also suggest get ready for the code, which you mentioned. Have fun! :)
  13. Oops, just saw you mentioned you have already tried it. Carry on! :)
  14. Check out Little Pim. Being your dd is 2 it's especially age appropriate!
  15. My husband has ADHD. Ridolin wasn't the answer for him. They tried it and he was basically zombie child. So they dropped it. His main trigger is food dye. As long as his parents kept him away from Starburst , Skittles, etc he was manageable. I'm sure it's different for every child!
  16. My dd will be 3 this summer, so I'm planning on some preschool-y things for the next year. Everything I have planned is pretty much based on play (art, songs, finger plays). I may pick up a couple of workbooks-we will see how that goes. I'm hoping she likes them as I'm a workbook person myself. :) I am very tempted by many of the preschool things over at Timberdoodle- we will see how much my husband will let me spend! I also really want to pick up Art Lab for Little Kids, once it's released. I really want to get her enrolled in a preschool art class that one of our local museums sponsors. We will also be getting the pass to the zoo this year- our zoo has been closed for over a year due to flooding and is finally reopening this Spring! She asks me every day if we can go to the zoo yet. My goals for the next year are to continue working on letter and number recognition, and to continue to nurture her love of reading. Lots of library trips in our future. And I almost forgot Little Pim Spanish.
  17. Art Lab For Kids is coming out with a new version specifically for little kids!! I'm excited about that for preschool. I think it comes out sometime in the next few months. I think it's called Art lab for Little Kids.
  18. I'm in the foreign language camp. I would love Pimsleur for kids. Little Pim is Pimsleur for babies and toddlers, and the regular Pimsleur is teen-adult. Something for 2nd+ would be lovely. I agree about a scripted BFSU. Also, a decent music appreciation program that follows history, from the earliest known music, to the romantic composers, and the evolution of rock and roll. Something that lasts over a few years. Everything I've seen is so dry!
  19. Meet the Masters is a program that covers specific artists; you learn about them, and then you make something in their style. It's not in chronological order, though.
  20. Just wanted to say hey- we are in Minot!
  21. Been lurking for quite a while; it's really about time I joined! I won't be full on homeschooling for a couple years as my dd is still a toddler, but I'm already obsessed with researching everything about homeschooling. :drool5: Loving this forum!
