  1. I got tired of the saggy crotch issue and switched to thin leggings. Turned out to be more durable too. :)
  2. Me too. The one that made me sick was the pink machine guns on a red background. Yuck. Disagreeing is one thing but threatening/glorifying violence is disgusting. :(
  3. Marriage is an ancient concept, but it has morphed over time. Slavery was probably just as old of a concept, but we've altered that too.
  4. I had HG with all three kids. it's so miserable! Will your OB prescribe Zofran? It helped me at the peak of my morning sickness with my last baby. It was insanely expensive when I was pg with my first two, but now it's not. B6 + Unisom helped a little. Mostly just try to keep nibbling. Protein helped me when I could keep it down. If lemon is working for you, maybe suck on lemon drops? I didn't like flavored beverages, so I drank Smart Water, and it had to be ICE COLD. Do you think you may have that awful stomach bug on top of morning sickness? Lots of great, up to date info on http://www.helpher.org/ I hope it passes soon!
  5. Rancho Gordo beans are delish! They may be cheaper elsewhere, but here is a link on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Rancho-Gordo-Heirloom-Bean-Sampler/dp/B005KDJEJK
  6. A friend of mine got tons of great info from here: http://www.infantreflux.org/ Hope you figure it out soon.
  7. We refuse to shop at Wal-mart, and I thought Aldi's was mostly canned food? I've only been in one a couple of times. Farmer's Market, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Costco, and the random item at Publix. I wish we had a Wegman's!
  8. Voluminous :) Eddie Bauer sometimes has nice tunic-y things. I don't know if they have a catalog, but check out the Eileen Fisher brand (on sale ;) ).
  9. Can't go wrong with Brooks Brothers. Costco's no-iron shirts are decent quality but not overly stylish. DH's favorite business casual no-iron shirts are from Eddie Bauer (there are usually a couple of updated patterns in the mix). Nordstrom has semi-annual sales, and you can make an appointment with a personal shopper for free who will pull things and have them waiting. The sale is a good time to pick up nice shoes for a good price. Nordstrom Rack can be hit or miss. For traveling, I'd definitely stick with the no-iron shirts. They're significantly more expensive, but you'll save so much in dry cleaning!
  10. Can the meat and dairy be on the side? -Vegetarian chili with toppings (hot sauce to add spice on the side), tortilla chips -Baked potato bar -Taco bar Salad Fruit salad Vegan, flourless chocolate cake with coconut "whipped cream"
  11. Cork? I love cork floors. Or the real, old fashioned linoleum.
  12. I would get the Brother PED software so that you can use online designs, unless the new basic machines have that capability already. Mine long ago did not, and the only way to get designs was to purchase the Brother disks that went straight into the machine. There's a basic version of the software that transfers the designs onto the special Brother memory card, and there's a PED-Design that allows you to do some basic designing. I got the PED-Design with my 6-needle machine. I don't believe it's the best design software out there, but I don't know what is because I haven't gone down that road. :) Check out sewforum.com for lots of information. There are yahoo groups with info, but most of these seem to be changing over to FB groups. Applique Forum, Planet Applique, Designs by Juju, Digistitches, hmmm, trying to think of where I usually buy designs... Machines can be particular about thread. I've read mixed reviews on Marathon. Some people love it and some people's machines eat it. I personally love Madeira thread. I think it's pretty universally liked by Brother machines. You can get a big, mixed color pack with a carrying case from several places online. Stick with polyester thread, not rayon. I haven't shopped for thread in a bit, so I'm not sure where the deals are right now. Allstitch.net has great customer service and pretty good prices on stabilizer, needles, etc. They carry the set of Madeira Polyneon too (but again, I have no idea if this is the best price): http://www.allstitch.net/product/madeira-polyester-40-48-spool-kit-3732.cfm It seems like a big outlay at once, but it's so much better quality than the Coats stuff at JoAnn's, and when you price it out, it's much cheaper and will keep you from running to the store for each project. I use my set for pretty much everything and just find something that's close enough unless it's something truly special.
  13. Bagallini messenger bag Kipling bags have several styles that might work. I got one a few months ago and love it. And I love the stuffed monkey dongle. :) Ameribags have a few sizes and colors, including leather.
  14. I agree. The stain (maybe? I still don't see how water did that!) came from something you were supposed to be doing. Anyone can spill water. If you were partying and spilled your Purple Jesus punch, then I'd be ticked.
  15. Are you sure you caused the stain? It may have been there before... I've never had water stain carpet. I would not expect you to have worked for 2.5 months for free!
  16. This is pretty much what I do except I use freezer safe glass mason jars: http://www.hellobee.com/2012/11/09/nourishing-traditions-chicken-stock/
  17. We've used Costco and negotiated via email. Costco's program is so easy! You could always finance it and pay it off immediately. It can boost your credit rating. :)
  18. I hate those patterns! The printable online ones are so much easier to use IMO. Check out youcanmakethis.com. Scientific Seamstress/CarlaC's patterns are always great. She has a helpful blog too.
  19. If you have any laced shoes, you can try lacing them so that the middle holes over your arches are skipped. Sore feet make everything hurt!
  20. Keen sandals Skechers GoWalks Saucony Bullet or Jazz (wear with low/no show socks)
  21. We had this issue with one of my cats, starting around the same age. Our vet put him on Buspar after checking out the kidneys, etc. We worked with a behaviorist at a large vet school who recommended putting him in a spare bathroom with only a litter box and bed for 2 weeks, as a sort of sensory reset. We did it again for 2 weeks when we moved a few years later. That worked better than the medicine it seemed. We also swear by Cat Attract litter. It's at Petsmart and a local shop orders it in vast quantities for us. http://www.preciouscat.com/product/cat-attract/ Other interesting things from the behaviorist: No citrus air fresheners or scents near litter box because cats dislike citrus and it discourages them from going near. If you have more than one animal, or the cat feels insecure, remove the lid from the litter box. The cat feels vulnerable in the litter box anyway, and if the other animal has ever blocked him in the box, he will avoid it. (We will remove the lid if there's a stressor, and our bad kitty is now 17! No problems for many, many years though.) Get a black light and look for leftover pee. Nature's Miracle the bejeebus out of everything. Good time to deep clean when kitty is in isolation.
  22. Your DH and SIL are way too uptight. The waitress offered! It's not as if you grabbed one off another table's abandoned plates.
  23. Caramelized onions Sour cream Whipped butter Ranch Faux bacon Green onions Veggie chili (canned) Salsa A couple of kinds of cheese Sautéed mushrooms Broccoli You could do white and sweet potatoes. I love potato bars. Such a fun, easy way to feed a crowd. :) Green salad, fruit, and brownies?
  24. Sounds like she has Issues. (Capitalization intentional!) I'm sure your pup is fine. We keep that quick stop stuff on hand because we seem to do it every time. So far our dogs have not packed their furry bags and tried to leave. ;) Can you stick to drop off play dates at your house (in case she ever decided to turn the crazy on your kid)?
  25. Europe also has universal health care coverage. It's an altogether different social model across the pond. :)
