  1. I loved curly top. Was just singing the song a couple of days ago. I loved her movies and try to get my girls into watching every now and then. So sad about her death.
  2. I think some animal shelters will, it all just varies from place to place. My kids were involved in a ministry a couple of years ago that they go in and help sort things every so often. They now have a food pantry but only allow adults to help. You can look in your area and see if there is an organization like pebbles in atlanta that has service projects especially for kids. If you can afford it, you may also try and do a monthly donation to a food pantry every month. You can designate a certain amount of money, buy the food and donate it with your son. I think doing something consistently helps better than random acts for kids of that age. If he plays musical instruments, you may also look into playing for a senior center once a month. It is so great that you are addressing it now and looking for things to do. All the best
  3. Yes. I found that I really need to be proactive about getting my kids out and involved for them to make friends. I have had to start some groups and also put them in a coop mostly for then social interaction. As they are getting older, it is becoming easier as they tend to have a couple of friends that they want to stick with.
  4. If you already use MEP with the younger ones, I will say look into the yrs7-9 for her. They are done separately from the yrs 1-6. They are not spiral so you ca pick and choose with ones she needs to work on and the examples are not little kids things that older kids will not like to work with. All the best
  5. It looks like it will be fun but we will not be doing it this year. My dd does not like speed in math.
  6. We love the shows here. The kids like the kings and queens of England song and the Tudor ones.
  7. You can look into his doing a 5k or something to start. Around us there are lots of groups that do running as a fundraising event especially the high schools and they usually have something for the kids. That will get him started and then he can go on from there.
  8. I watched some of it. It will be archived at debatelive.org for some time for those who are interested.
  9. I would second or third scratch and then Alice. Both are quite accessible to kids. My dd took the free intro to programming class merrlvm offered last month and really enjoyed it.
  10. Latin. Things got so busy and we just haven't been able to squeeze in the time for it.
  11. We celebrate 100 days of school. The kids like it. I ask them to bring 100 items to school, they have brought 100 grains of rice, beans, 100 bands, 100 pieces of paper- just something crazy like that. We have a tea party and celebrate with 100 m &m's.
  12. :grouphug: :grouphug: and prayers
