  1. It's on Starz, if you have access to the Starz app or you can purchase a "subscription" to Starz through Amazon and watch that way. ETA: I mixed up Starz and Showtime 😳
  2. I grew up in Alaska and always left butter out. Once I moved to Texas, I couldn't do that anymore. Even if the house is cool, it seems to get weird quickly.
  3. The title says it. My kids having been playing the pocket app for a couple years now and love it. They don't know any different. Are they missing out by not playing on the computer? I don't let them connect with anyone but each other and don't plan to. thoughts?
  4. I ordered a platform bed with a head board and a huge rug from Wayfair. I love them both! The transactions went smoothly. I just read probably 100 reviews on each before I ordered. The reviews are a huge source of info. For instance, on the bed and headboard, the discription didn't say that it came in two boxes that ship on different days. Luckily I read a couple reviews that mentioned that and didn't freak out when I only got one box.
  5. Thank you! I am concerned with long-term antibiotic use. We, too, use antibiotics sparingly.
  6. I posted few days ago about my DD having urinary issues. I took her to the doctor yesterday, and they took a urine sample to run labs on and grow a culture. I don't have the results of that yet, but her dr is setting her up with a pediatric urologist to get a VCUG. She suspects vesicoureteral reflux maybe causing my DD's problems. In researching vesicoureteral reflux, much of it fits. Does anyone have an experience with this that they'd be willing to share? I'm trying not to worry to much.
  7. She does have a sacral dimple, but had an ultrasound at a few weeks old, which ruled out a tethered cord. She was born with a diastasis recti. The doctors were sure it would close when she started to crawl, sit up, walk, but it never did. Her ped wants her to have it fixed at age 5. She is also VERY thin, tall and has hyper-mobile joints.
  8. The first time she was seem about this was at urgent care. They didn't send off a culture. I will get her in to her ped ASAP and have that done. And follow up with a urologist if nothing show up there. Thanks for all the advice
  9. No meds or vitamins. I don't think she has an unusual diet.
  10. My DD is having some weird urinary issues and I need help! Background: She is 4 years old, 5 in July. She was a late potty trainer, probably for about a year now. She has yet to make it through the night dry. She had weird constipation issues as an exclusively breastfed infant that are mild now. She goes poop on her own so I don't know the exact frequency. She says she goes every other day or so. She eats and drinks normally. I don't feel that she is dehydrated. She drinks plenty of water throughout the day. The issues: The biggest issue in my opinion is that her urine smells incredibly strong and foul. A very fishy smell. She seems to have trouble staying dry. She never fully wets her pants but "dribbles" all the time. I have tried everything I can think of. Reminding her, talking to her, ect. She says she can't make it in time. But that doesn't make sense, she will go in the potty and then a few minutes later will pee in her pants. Sometimes she urinates very frequently. Like 5+ times in an hour. Not always though. She does this really weird thing where she will get really red in the face and sort of squat down holding herself. She will moan and sometimes cry. These episodes usually last 30 seconds or so. Then she will run to the potty and pee. When I ask her what is wrong while it is happening, she won't talk to me and gets mad and embarrassed. Afterward, she tells me that it tickles and she has to do that behavior to "keep her pee in" It is really, really weird. She swears up and down that it doesn't hurt when she pees. I ask constantly. And when I take her potty in public restrooms she doesn't act like she is in pain when she pees. This has been going on for probably six months, and getting steadily worse. A couple months ago, I took her to the doctor because it seemed to me she had a UTI. They looked at her urine and said she didn't. They also checked her blood sugar, which was fine. The doctor thought it looked like she might have a yeast infection from being wet so much. We treated that. I sometime feel like the wetting her pants is a stubbornness thing. She is very stubborn in general, but why in the world would she want to pee her pants? I'll have talks with her about trying to stay dry, and she will for a couple days, but never for more than that. I am totally stumped.
  11. Texas has figured it out. I was on WIC when my youngest was a baby and it is a card. And you didn't even have to sort out your order. Just ring it all up, insert WIC card, and then pay the difference. It was so much easier than the checks I had to use in Alaska.
  12. We just had a custom house built, exactly what we want, so I adore most everything! 😠But I have a few favorites. 1. Storage! We have a huge pantry and closets. I finally have a dedicated place for everything. 2. My laundry room is ridiculously huge. I have more cabinets, drawers and counter space than my last kitchen. It has totally changed my laundry game. I used to be a "live out of the baskets" person and had clean laundry piles everywhere. Now I fold every load as it come out of the dryer because I have the space to do so. My last laundry area was also the back doorway and it was the only entrance we used. It was always dirty and shoes were everywhere. Now, my laundry room is a separate space, no more shoes and dirt and people trying to get through. It's heaven. 3. Porches! We have about 2,000 sqft of covered outdoor space, a large back porch, a small, separate master porch, a carport and front porch. I live in Texas, so the outdoor space gets used pretty much year round.
  13. I forgot to mention, no ginormous centipedes. 😉 And after living in Alaska, I like being able to drive to another state!
  14. I'm not sure my perfect place exists, but I would love it to be 80 during the day and 60 at night, year-round. Lots of sunshine and trees and lakes and some mountains. Actually, I really like where I live now, north-east Texas, most of the year. And I grew up in Alaska, I miss the summers up there like crazy (at least the ones when it doesn't rain the whole time). If I could afford it, I would probably spend the summer in AK and the rest of the year in TX.
  15. Are you in the south? I see a lot of little girls with the matching, super ruffled outfits and big bows in TX. I think most of it comes from clothing boutiques. They are everywhere. Hope that helps!
  16. Yep! I just did that very thing. In the area I live, (NE Texas) that is very common. One thing to keep in mind is that manufactured homes don't hold their value very well. We were okay with that, to us it was better than renting.
  17. Thanks for all the thoughts. I'm concerned that if I make him a catio, he will still want to go all the way out. I have a feeling that a catio won't be enough for him. Sigh, it just like raising kids, you say all the things you will or won't ever do, but once you have the actual child it all goes out the window.
  18. Hornblower, we do have another cat. Another male of similar age. They are the best of friends. The other cat has very little desire to be outside. We also has a four month old puppy who is eating up a lot of time. I am clicker training with the puppy, I can try to with the cat as well! As far as the neuter, he has his yearly vet check-up next month and I will inquire about having his testosterone checked. He was fully six months old when he was neutered.
  19. mom2bee, I understand where you are coming from. That is why I am even considering letting him out. He should be able to get fresh air and be outside but I do want to keep him safe. The dangers for a cat outside are greater than the dangers for people outside. No, I don't keep my kids locked up in the house, but they are not at nearly as high of a risk of danger as the cat. There is a difference.
  20. How would I know if his neuter didn't take? It looks like it did.
  21. I would love to make some sort of catio for him, though I'm not sure I can convince DH of it (he is not quite as fond of cats as I am.) I have tried taking him outside on a leash, and while he actually liked it, he got much worse as far as meowing at the door goes.
  22. I have a one-year old, neutered, male cat who desperately wants to go outside. I am very committed to him being an indoor only cat. I don't feel that the outdoor world is safe for cats. We live out in the country and there are coyotes and bobcats, not to mention roaming dogs and other cats. Plus the danger of being hit by a car or shot by someone who doesn't appreciate random cats on their property. And diseases. This cat is obsessed with outside. He bolts out the door at every opportunity. If he hears someone heading toward a door he races that way. He cries and howls at the door all day and sometimes at night. He sits in the window sills and cries. This has been going on for months now. I keep hoping he will eventually give up and figure we are not letting him out. When he escapes, we immediately bring him back in the house. Is there anything else I can do? Should I just let him out? Maybe some cats are just outdoor cats no matter what you do? Help!
  23. I am so very sorry for your loss. I lost my dog two weeks ago. It is incredibly hard 😥
  24. My dad has a sofa sleeper that is an air mattress! It is pretty darned comfortable. OP, sorry, I don't know who makes it, and I know he paid more like $2000 for it.
  25. Oh no! I hope it makes it to you!
