  1. And I thought this was going to be about Sheldon. We looked it up on youtube after we saw that episode. Kids are fascinated.
  2. Another for Elemental Science. We've been using it for a few years now and haven't had any issues with it.
  3. The library in our county is horrible. I just discovered that a few counties over is a library system that is wonderful and I can get a card for only $25/year. It is so worth the drive! There's a limit of 200 items per card with no limits on what kind of items. So I can check out 200 DVDs if I wanted. Except the first 6 weeks there's a limit of only 10 items and I'm really itching for my trial period to be over! I can't wait to up their check out numbers.
  4. Dh just bought a car a few weeks ago. We traded in his Envoy for it since gas is so high now. The notes plus gas on his new Abarth is less than what we were paying for the gas in the Envoy. I have a 2007 Prius that has been paid off for about 3 or 4 years.
  5. Myrtle Beach has a ton to do. If you stay at a resort then it will have its own beachfront access and it won't be so dirty.
  6. Also in S. Korea there are very few places for the elderly. There are almost no retirement homes or nursing homes because they are expected to live with their children. If they can't stay in their house and their children don't want them then they have nowhere else to go.
  7. We live about 25 minutes from any city. In fact, you can get to 3 of them in 25 - 30 minutes. It takes me 30 minutes to get to work and dh 45 in the opposite direction so really our location is ideal. He doesn't mind the drive but I do. But I do love our 7 acres with no neighbors for about a mile. I've really worked on getting all our errands done at once. It helps that there's a small gas station about 5 minutes from here that stocks bread, milk and dr. pepper for when I run out of my three main necessities.
  8. Right now we live paycheck-to-paycheck and we have about 3 months in savings. Once our house sells, we are golden. Paying two mortgages is NOT fun!
  9. We have about 2,000 sq ft. I would rather go down by about 500 sq ft. It seems like the more space we have, the more we buy to fill it up and I really don't like having a ton of stuff. We once lived in a house that was 3,000 sq ft. and it was just way too big.
  10. I know girls with it spelled that way and pronounced both #2 and #3.
  11. Do it! Just think, in 4 years you'll either be finished with the first step or still wanting to go.
  12. Twice. I put just about everything in there because I hate washing things by hand. But we don't have any nice stuff. All cookware is cheap stuff from wal-mart. Dh will wash pots and pans by hand because he says it takes up too much room.
  13. I wouldn't complain to the crew but I would to dh. I would feel bad for the crew because I'm sure they would be getting yelled at and blamed from other passengers. My nook's battery lasts weeks so I would be good. My kids are old enough to be able to deal and I'm the only one with medical problems so it wouldn't be too big a deal for us. I would be stressed about whatever situation we had for the dog, the house and all that. And I'm not nice when I'm stressed. But I would probably sue. Dh is on salary but I'm not and 5 days is a lot of income to miss. $500 wouldn't cover it. My boss is a bit of a jerk and I could see getting fired for no call/no show.
  14. Ugh I just checked. I won't be getting one package until Thursday! How could they do this to me?? The others are Rainbow Resource so I don't know when I'll get them. With my luck, I'll get one today since I won't be home all afternoon.
  15. I would say 5 but it depends on the area and what type of work the people there do. Dh has to be at work for 6 and so does everybody else around here. We used to sneak off a few mornings a week before the kids got up and have breakfast at this wonderful diner around the corner where we used to live before he went in. They were always busy even at that time.
  16. I work 3 12 hour shifts a week, homeschool my 9 year old and go to school full time. Dh just got back from being away for 5 months and in 2 weeks or so he's leaving for another year so I can't count on his help. I work 4 pm - 4 am on the weekends so it really doesn't affect homeschool. I'm still able to be there most of the days and ds does the same activities he did before I started working. I found compounding my work schedule into as few days as possible helped a lot. The house is usually a mess during the week but we do a big clean on Saturdays. Luckily dd11 loves cooking so she's a big help when it comes to that. Things just seem to fall in place.
  17. It took 17 posts for the first snicker?? Methinks there hasn't been enough fun on here lately.
  18. I hear ya! I ordered more this morning. So that makes 3 packages I'm waiting on. My poor mailman is going to start thinking I have a crush on him if I keep stalking him like this.
  19. Children's Place. They're even having a sale this weekend.
  20. We've definitely felt excluded. The first time we tried a group it was a secular all-inclusive group. We were asked to leave because ds told another kid we don't go to church. Apparently it is only all-inclusive for Christians. Then we tried the local military group. When we first got here we were welcomed and it was great. Then somebody asked me dh's rank and we were ignored after I told them. I gave up after that.
  21. Both mine have a TV in their room. They can only watch Nexflix and we've never had a problem with them watching anything inappropriate or keeping it on after we say to turn it off. They watch it for a little bit before they go to sleep on non-activity days and that's really it.
