  2. I think an extra side-effect of this method is that any time someone says KonMari, I feel like I should go declutter something. Maybe there were subliminal messages in the audio book. lol
  3. :grouphug: I am so very sorry for your loss. :grouphug:
  4. I give you permission to ditch the table. If you need a table there you will find another solution that works better once you get rid of this one. Ds has plastic drawers for storing Lego, and they stay in his room. If you have several dc that share Lego then I would get one of those tarps where the sides fold up (or make one by adding Velcro to the corners) and have all Lego play happen on the tarp. When they are done you can tip the tarp into a bin and close the lid.
  5. Feel better soon! Yes, go to bed. Your body is telling you to rest.
  6. That's a main dish. Take it and enjoy!
  7. I'm about half done and it took eight months so far. She says specifically to finish in six or less, but I can only devote time to it one day per week for an hour or two. I loved the effect on my clothes and closet so much that I recently KonMari'd those items a second time. I was much better this time at really deciding if things brought me joy. My closet is so streamlined now. I have been able to keep up with the folding technique the whole time because first, it looks so good, and second, it makes it so easy to see everything you have at a glance. More clothes get worn because they aren't forgotten at the bottom of a pile. I am on vacation right now and I even have my clothes KonMari folded in the dresser here because it is now a habit. I had all sorts of random kitchen gadgets in drawers and I got rid of anything that didn't bring joy, which turned out to be half of the things. Dh started to think of all the money wasted on those items and how I should keep them, but I was ruthless with the kitchen. Almost all of the things I got rid of had been gifts, some from twenty years ago, that were not useful to me. I took the nicest things and gave them to a relative because he is just starting out on his own and loves to cook. Some things I gave to my Ds for his science lab, and the rest were donated. My kitchen drawers are a joy to open now. I can easily see everything as there is not a big mish-mash of stuff. I smile at least once a day opening those drawers, and they have stayed tidy for four or five months. I thought I wouldn't be able to Kon Mari books, but I did actually find a box of them to donate. I'll probably do that category again in a year and I will find more. I find that the more categories you KonMari, the more you want to do. The results have been spectacular for me, so it really inspires me to keep at it and to maintain what I have done. Like others mentioned, it has changed my mindset.
  8. I'm so very sorry for your loss. :grouphug: :grouphug:
  9. Ds woke up feeling pretty good today (the last couple of days were still rough). No one else got sick (yet, anyways) so we are very thankful.
  10. Oldest Ds is getting: degree and percent fraction rings sand timers anglegs Little Ds is getting a light table and accessories: transparent c-rods transparent tangrams transparent geometric shape tiles transparent letter construction set transparent geoboards We already have all the paper, pens, binders, art supplies. I have to be creative now to find new school supplies.
  11. I'm so sorry for your loss. :grouphug: :grouphug:
  12. Many hugs. I'm so very sorry for your loss. :grouphug: :grouphug:
  13. We made it on vacation! Ds woke up without a fever and has kept food/liquids down for more than 24 hours now. So far no one else is sick, so we threw everything in the car and went for it. Thanks everyone for the good thoughts. I'm so happy the vacation wasn't completely missed.
  14. What is in your morning basket time? Is it essential? If she doesn't enjoy it and it isn't essential, it could free up 90 minutes where she could do independent work. Maybe she could do morning basket once per week and have three days where that is independent work time or writing time.
  15. Something fun to include in your study: Chinese Fairy Tale Feasts https://www.amazon.com/Chinese-Fairy-Tale-Feasts-Literary/dp/1566569931/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1469282386&sr=8-3&keywords=fairy+tale+feasts It is a combination of Chinese fairy tales and a cookbook. The recipes are chosen to go with each fairy tale.
  16. Thank you everyone for your well-wishes. Ds was up in the night vomiting, and he is now running a fever. Little Ds woke up with an eye infection. We won't be going today for sure, probably not tomorrow either. We cannot postpone the trip as the accommodations are booked a year in advance and already paid. It is a one week stay. Hopefully we will get a few days still if no one else catches this.
  17. We used an iPad app called Word Wizard for the first three or four levels. Now Ds just writes everything in his notebook and doesn't need tiles.
  18. I just realized my siggy photo is from this same vacation spot from a few years ago. it is somewhere I went every summer with my parents as a child. Lots of memories.
  19. We were supposed to leave for vacation today, but Ds wasn't feeling very good this morning. He vomited just before lunch and we chalked it up to nerves (he is very excited about the vacation). We figured we would go tomorrow morning instead, but he just vomited again. Now he is in tears because he knows we won't be going tomorrow either. All our extended family is there. Now if anyone else gets it we may not get to go at all. I'm sad and I know our dc will be crushed if we don't go.
  20. Oh Aimee, I'm so sorry you can't go. I know how much he means to you and that you really want to be there. :grouphug:
  21. I only have the Homegrown Preschooler, but I understand that the plans for making the sensory/light table and outdoor easel are only in the Homegrown Preschooler, not in AYOPS. I checked the projects for AYOPS in the sample month and they are different than the ones in HGP. Both are full of good ideas. I have decided to just stay with HGP for now as I have a ton of other resources I am using, so between HGP, things I've purchased, and Pinterest I can fill our day. :)
