  1. Thanks so much for the info. I have been thinking of doing this for awhile. My youngest has allergies to certain food items. The bread that she can eat just took a price jump again! I have some leftover holiday funds ---I think I am going to just jump in an get the bread machine. Beside something must be telling me too. I came here today and here was this thread---just saying do it!!! I would love to get into making my own flour and such. I think that I need to start small with just making the bread. lynda
  2. what model of the Zojirushi bread machine do you recomend? where is the best place to purchase? Do any of you grind or make your own wheat flour? Can you make the darker breads in the machine like squaw or pupernickle?
  3. I would take him in to the DR. and have them test for a Urinary Tract infection. My only experience is with girls but I would think that a boy could get one too. I would just do as a precaution to make sure nothing medically is going on. lynda
  4. Does anyone know anything about the 360 or 365 brand of milk that Whole Foods sells. We have just started to purchase this brand. We are slowly trying to switch over all our eating and foods to healthier choices, whole grains etc. I really don't want to pay the extra money if all it is going to get me is a pretty label. lynda
  5. I am using the BJU 3 edition right now with my dd. Let me say that I really just do not like to teach science. It is going very well. I we are doing fine without the DVD's the chapters are written well, so that it easy for the student to understand. I like that the teachers manual lays everything out for you. The one thing that I would recommend is to purchase a separate student workbook. It is located in the back of the textbook, sometimes when doing the labs we have wanted to look at the book and this can be a pain. Also if you want to use the books with more than one child, later on down the road. Also, I would get the kit from Home Science Tools. I wish that I had! I will be getting a kit for next year. It may be helpful to get the teachers manual and go through and decide on what experiments that you are going to do before you purchase all the supplies. There are multiple experiments for each chapter and all are not necessary to do. The insect collection was fun for my "bug hating Princess"!!!! if you have any specific questions let me know. I'll try to answer them. lynda
  6. My dd asked for it! She is obsessed with Ancient History! She realized by her own studies that most modern day languages were based on Latin. She begged me for a year to learn. I did not quite understand it or why. I followed her desires and she made me see the light. Once we started working with Latin, I saw the benifits for vocabulary, grammar, and basic language skills in general. I wanted her to continue for these reasons, she just wants to read Latin. I will introduce Latin and teach it to my other children. If for nothing else than the vocabulary skills, grammar, the critical thinking, and basic language skills. It will be up to each child as to how far we take Latin. :p lynda
  7. thanks for the information on La Clase Divertida! It looks like so much fun, I think that we are going to give it a try. lynda
  8. How do you like La Clase Divertida? I just looked at the samples online and it looks like so much fun! how long does it take per day, how often per week etc. Would love to hear the good and bad. lynda
  9. you could always take her through the Saxon Algebra 1/2 book. Let her work through the tests--she how she does and stop where she has issues then move into Alg. 1. This is my plan for dd whom is in the new Saxon 87 book right now --I am doing it more because she is young and I want to hold her back a little to mature, she is 10 right now and will be 11 next year. I talked with Saxon and they told me to look at the scores of the last 40 or so lessons in the 87 book. If the child is getting at least an 80-85% then you can easily move onto Alg 1. lynda:)
