  1. We used it for my son at age 6. At the beginning of the year we completed the shorter copywork sentences but by mid year were able to choose a longer one.
  2. You mentioned you don't want to use one curriculum. So here is an idea - we loved Story of the USA books that Sonlight uses and the readers/read alouds that go along with it. Why not use Story of the USA as your guide so that you will have a sequential order and then pick and choose the readers/read alouds that look of interest to you and your daughter. Just an idea. You could probably even find a used Sonlight 3+4 guide to use for scheduling ideas. -Stephanie
  3. We switched from Sonlight science to NOEO this past year and plan to continue with NOEO. My kids and I have really enjoyed NOEO - there is a variety of books for each science level and I love that notebooking is incorporated into each day's reading. We also like the NOEO sticks with one theme/area of study at a time and does not skip around like Sonlight does. I would definitely recommend NOEO.
  4. We used both FLL and Abeka Language 2 and I liked both for different reasons. First Language Lessons incorporates narration, copywork and poem memorization skills, as well as focusing on memorizing the definitions and uses of the parts of speech. The exercises are predominantly oral and sometimes (at least for one of my kids who benefits from auditory and written learning) I felt she benefited from the workbook style of Abeka which gave more written practice. This may not help you because we did not choose one over another, but we also did not find it too intensive to do a combination of both.
