  1. I used MUS from Alpha to Zeta and always supplemented. Not because it was lacking, only because I knew due to the mastery approach the kids may not have learned a skill that would be on the state standardized testing, and I didn't want them to think they were behind. I went through Abeka, BJU, & Horizons as supplements before I found CLE, which I generally used one grade level lower, and for us they were the perfect combination.
  2. If I had read the MFW lesson plan book better, I wouldn't have needed to ask about the Teachers Manual - sorry 'bout that. But it helps to know that I really should get the activity guide teacher's manual as well. This will be the first time we've done a structured, planned program, and I regret trying to save $ by only purchasing the MFW books from them & getting the rest used or at the library. Thanks again for your help!
  3. If you've used MFW US History, can you tell me how necessary the BJU Teacher's Edition (& other books besides the Student Text) is? Also, if you have any comments on the differences between the 3rd & 4th editions of the BJU books, I'd love to hear them. Thanks! Tammy
  4. Our new to us dog, a 2 year old lab, has become lethargic today and started drooling quite a lot. Does anyone have any advice on what we should do? I can't afford a trip to the vet. He was in the house nearly all day, except to go out for a walk, so I don't think he ate anything outside. I did recently begin to change his dog food and have been giving him half of the new and half of the old at each feeding. He also had some table scraps that were mostly fat off of a roast. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
  5. No need to apologize! I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. I love hearing how others have "done it" and what they would have done differently. I hadn't heard of PPG - thanks for the links!
  6. I've always used two because I loved MUS, but felt like they needed something that followed a more standard scope & sequence for testing. Using CLE one grade level behind has worked well in that they don't have to spend too much time on math & it doesn't get frustrating. So right now my 7th grader is almost finished with MUS pre-algebra and CLE 6th grade and my 5th grader is using MUS Epsilon & CLE 4th grade (almost finished). HTH
  7. I like the idea of doing Algebra 1 twice. Which two do you use? My oldest is almost finished with Videotext which I may consider as the second round option for this daughter.
  8. Thank you for the input about not rushing into algebra and moving on from MUS (although we've loved it). I really need help with this decision!
  9. Does anyone have an opinion on whether a 7th grader who's just completed MUS pre-algebra would be able to jump into Lial's Introductory Algebra? She does well, but isn't particularly mathy. I am considering using "Mathematics: A Human Endeavor" to finish out the year if Lial's isn't recommended. Thanks!
