  1. I used Notgrass World History. The "text" book isn't very expensive, but the books you need are around 89. You could get them from the library
  2. I think it does depend a lot your child's personality. If she is okay with things, than I would just let what happens happen.
  3. Great ? I have been wondering the same thing! Would love feed back from those that have made it through.
  4. Primary Language Lesson and the 2nd one. They are probably fine for someone else, but not us. There are lots of things that I have not worked for our family, but others love.
  5. cool! someone else told me you could watch on youtube. I am going to have to do this with my kids
  6. you could try taking a break and getting some time period, interesting novels and just reading to the kids? They would probably enjoy it and not be so stressful for you. Just a thought.
  7. If the child is reading and enjoying it-go with it. SL is great list for book titles, but reading and enjoying it is the key. I am with the Captain Underpants comments, but even some silliness at this age doesn't hurt.
  8. Depending on your child's age and ability-the MFW (My Father's Word) K is a great curriculum, they have a forum. It focuses on a letter a week with a bible truth associated with it. The writing is minimal. You can find it at MFWbooks.com
  9. We have used MFW through all levels, except Adventures-but I am going to use it with my last. I have friends that loved the program and we used several of the books as a supplement to the older American History program. I like MFW-the lesson plans are all in one page and not as overwhelming as Sonlight-my oldest is in SL 200 right now. I am not crazy about all the science books in some of the programs, but am supplementing with God's Design. If your child is good reader-you don't need a reading program. Just keep doing Lang and then let her pick books to read to you and continue to read to her. You can use SL readers as a recommended list if you are uncomfortable picking. Book basket is a basket of books that you keep on hand and tell the child to pick one and read (I think it is 15 min) the list is in the back of the teachers manual and they explain each book and age. This worked great for my oldest who loves to read, but my second I have to assign books as part of school. Hope that helps.
  10. I would have to agree that he is not ready. I have 2 boys and 1 girl. They were all different. My second son, cloth diapered-showed signs at just over 2, was successful for a couple weeks or so, but then started having accidents. I was getting tired of the clean up and it was getting cold outside, I decided to try again after winter and he was completely ready and trained very quickly, but he was almost 3. But since he isn't yours, then you can not really know what is happening when he isn't in your home. Does he use diapers at home or does his mom clean up his messes? Can she afford some cloth diapers? He may like them less and be more interested in the potty over time.
  11. We have tested for 2 years now and my kids did fine by just doing our "normal" stuff. If you are happy with what you are using and your kids enjoy learning. I would stick with what you are doing. If there are low areas you can make adjustments.
